Bismillah and Salams

When I joined SC, there was so much more of a vibe to it. We had such great discussions, debates and plenty of room to learn. Now it's an semi-professional guest lounge where we argue over whether or not this scholar did this or that. We NEED to bring the SC spirit back!

I suggest a few options, you guys do the same:

●Get a new chat software up and going. The best conversations on SC took place on the chat. We should at least have an SC Discord where we can use voice or regular chat

●We have group Skype lessons by experts in specific subjects so we can all learn cool new things

●We get scholars to have blogs on here so we can get some expert opinion on big Shia issues

●We should have a directory on SC for certain issues. For example, when you look up "shiachat umar" you'll get a bunch of SC threads showing up. We have an in-website directory to threads about subjects like Muharram, the three "caliphs", etc

What do you guys think

I personally think these options are the best.

The dictionary thing might work but needs to be streamlined.

New chat software. Check.

As for the other things, they rely heavily on specific human capital, which is in short supply. Bringing in scholars or experts to the site is frequently proposed, yet nobody can provide any names or contacts of people they know. They're not going to magically show up here.

More intimate settings such as Skype, audio, and video are outside the boundries of SC, for the sake of privacy and security. These are usually arranged privately and off-site.

More productive ideas to improve SC should involve the people we have right now, with the tools we have right now. Not theoretical people or things we may or may not get later.

Also, we need to emphasize this is a discussion forum -- not a university, library, or e-hawza. It's only as good as the content members are willing to provide.
