7. What is the name of the horse the Prophet was purchasing when, after a dispute over the validity of the purchase, he named a sahabi 'Dhu'sh-Shahadatain' (the possessor/equivalent of two witnesses)?

8. What was the name of this companion, and how did he die?

@shiaman14 @Sindbad05

7. The name of the al-Murtajiz, better known as Zuljanah, which the Prophet eventually passed down to Imam al-Husayn. The Imam famously rode the horse into battle at Karbala, and it returned to camp without its rider.

8. The name of the companion is Khuzaima ibn Thabit "Dhu'sh-Shahadatain" al-Ansari, and he died fighting for Imam Ali at Siffin. Also one of the earliest sahaba to refuse allegiance to Abu Bakr.

I knew about al-Murtajiz being Imam Hussain's horse given to him by the Prophet (saw) but did not know where it came from. Thank you.

Some more Qur'anic quiz questions:

1. Which Prophet's name is mentioned the most times in the Qur'an?

2. Which agreement did the Qur'an call fathun mubeen (a clear victory), without a battle being fought?

3. How long did the Prophet receive the revelation of the Qur'an in Makkah?

4. How long did the Prophet receive the revelation of the Qur'an in Madinah?

Do you guys think we should do a more competitive round, with answers PM'd to a Mod (instead of posted here in public) and a winner declared at the end?

I think current of way quiz system is fine. It should be used to enhance our understanding rather for getting any reward/award.

We can keep this going also, but it'd be fun to have a bit of a competition too.

Try a question and increase your knowledge- it's a win-win situation!

1. Who was the first martyr of Islam?

2. What is the name of the horse-like animal which the Prophet rode on the miraj?

3. What is the literal meaning of "Masjid al-Aqsa"?

4. What is the literal meaning of the word “Qur’an”?

5. The name of which companion of Prophet Muhammad is mentioned in the Qur’an?

@Sindbad05 was right. The people fasting and praying are being paid to do so in place of the 'deceased'.

It's the question Hadhrat Bahlool-e Aaqel (Bahlool Dana) had asked in the court of the accursed Haroon Rasheed in one of his combats with some (less qualified show off)  fuqaha of that time.

Ummul Qara is in this verse

·        [Shakir 6:92] And this is a Book We have revealed, blessed, verifying that which is before it, and that you may warn the metropolis and those around her; and those who believe in the hereafter believe in it, and they attend to their prayers constantly.

UMMUL QARA'A here refers to one of the names of the Holy Qur'aan itself...

Otherwise, I will summarize here, then you'll reply with something I already considered in the article, and it will take a very long and frustrating thread to get the point across. If you have the time to post several comments on this thread, then you have the time to read it. It takes less than a fifth of the time to read than it does to write.

As for science, part 3 deals with that.
