A stark example of why the present is not a guide-to-the-future:  in 1960, being in the meat cutters union meant a very well paying job. By the 90s, meat cutting was a non-union, poorly paid, job.

Having the TV going in the background, l overheard an opinion about computers, artificial intelligence and conscientiousness:

When we consider our phones and desk tops as needing "thinking time" and "dream time" then they will be 'conscious' because we say they are.
