Difference between Sahabi and Ahl albayt?

The purpose of the thread is to analyze the differences between Sahabi / companions of the prophet saww and the members of the Ahl albayat in academic manner. Few are outlined below:

1-       The members of the Ahl albayat of the prophet saww are covered by the prophet under the cloak / kissa. while no companion / sahabi can come under it

2.       The members of Ahl albayat are taken alone by the prophet saww in Mubahila against the Christians and no companion / sahabi can come with the prophet for such representation

3.       The members of Ahl albayat are never separated from quran but the companions / sahabi  do not have such affiliation with the quran

4.       The members of Ahl albayt alone can come at the back of the prophet in his prayer and companion  / sahabi remain in their prayer behind the prophet saww as their Imam.

......Many more.

Salam,

You forgot one thing my brother ..

The prayer is not valid without the Salawat. To give Salawat is a form of Ibada.

And in the Salawat the aale Muhammad a.s. are connected to Muhammad s.a.w.a.s.

The messenger of Allah (saw) said: “O People, I leave amongst you two things which if you follow, you will never go astray. They are the Book of Allah and my Ahl al-Bayt (family).

 He also said: The messenger of my God is about to come to me and I shall answer. I am leaving with you the two WEIGHTY things: The first is the Book of Allah, in which you find guidance and enlightenment, and the people of my HOUSEHOLD I remind you, by Allah, of the people of my HOUSEHOLD...I remind you by Allah of the people of my HOUSEHOLD.

The Messenger of Allah said: "I am the City of Knowledge, and ‘Ali is its Gate. So whoever intends to enter the City and the Wisdom, he should enter from its Gate."

"And when We said: ‘Enter this Town and eat of the plenty therein as you wish; but enter the Gate (of the City) with humility in posture and in words so that We forgive you your sins and increase (the portion of) those who do good.’“(Qur’an 2:58).

The Wahabie scholar Shah Ismail Shaheed expands on this point to an even greater depth

Imam Ali(as) did when he declared 'I am the Sidiq al Akbar (The Great Truthful One) and whoever declares this after me is a liar and I am the talking Quran". Munsub e Imamate by Shah Ismail Shaheed page 69

 

Abu Bakr said, "May Allah never put me in a predicament that Abu al-Hasan cannot solve. " And Umar said, "If it was not for Ali, Umar would have perished

Surah Ash-Shura, Verse 23:

ذَٰلِكَ الَّذِي يُبَشِّرُ اللَّهُ عِبَادَهُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ قُل لَّا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ أَجْرًا إِلَّا الْمَوَدَّةَ فِي الْقُرْبَىٰ وَمَن يَقْتَرِفْ حَسَنَةً نَّزِدْ لَهُ فِيهَا حُسْنًا إِنَّ اللَّهَ غَفُورٌ شَكُورٌ

 

That is of which Allah gives the good news to His servants, (to) those who believe and do good deeds. Say: I do not ask of you any reward for it but love for my near relatives; and whoever earns good, We give him more of good therein; surely Allah is Forgiving, Grateful.

Then whoever argues with you about it after [this] knowledge has come to you - say, "Come, let us call our sons and your sons, our women and your women, ourselves and yourselves, then supplicate earnestly [together] and invoke the curse of Allah upon the liars [among us]. (Quran 3:61)

There was a debate between Prophet Muhammad and the christians of Najran. They saw the Holy Prophet (S) coming out carrying al-Husayn (as) in his arms and holding al-Hasan's (as) hand in his hand. Behind the Holy Prophet (S) was his daughter, Fatimah (as), and behind her was 'Ali (as). 

The chief of Najran delegation told his colleagues; "By Allah, I see these faces who will annihilate all the Christians of the world if they turn towards Allah."

The importance of ahlulbayt (as) is clear from sahaba, like what was the reason of bringing ahlulbayt (as) and not the sahaba??

 I don't think it is necessary to curse sahaba etc but don't take them as infallibles.

More deeper look of ayah-e-mawaddat:

Surah Ash-Shura, Verse 23:

That is of which Allah gives the good news to His servants, (to) those who believe and do good deeds. Say: I do not ask of you any reward for it but love for my near relatives; and whoever earns good, We give him more of good therein; surely Allah is Forgiving, Grateful.

Having given good news to His servants, Allah further describes their attributes as "those who believe & do good deeds". They word "qul (say)" here in this verse indicates that the addresee of next sentence are only those who were given glad tidings earlier i.e., those who believes and do good deeds.

Then came the command "I do not ask of you any reward for it but love for my near relatives". The reward for giving glad tidings or good news is the love of Ahlul bait (a.s) and this love is mentioned as "hasanah (good deed)" for which Allah (s.w.t) increases more of good therein.

No one can estimate how much good there is, in keeping the love of Ahlul bait (a.s) in their hearts and no one can estimate how much the "Al-Ghani" Allah increases the reward of that goodness!

All praises are for the Almighty Lord, Who has given us this toufeeq, Who has kept the love of Aal-e-Muhammad (a.s) in our hearts which is one of the weighty things.

Allahumma Sallay Ala Muhammad, Wa Aalay Muhammad, Wa Ajjil Farajahum.

Assalam-O-Allaiykum to all brothers and sisters,

The Hadith at Ghadeer-e-Khum which is common and accepted by both Shia and Sunni Muslims when the Holy Prophet(SAW) said

"I am leaving in between you two things to hold onto after me so that you never get misguided,One is The Quran,second my Ahle Bait(AS).

The fact that this Hadith was also addressed to the Companions/Sahaba(RA) of the Prophet(SAW) is a clear proof of how high the Ahle Bait(AS) are regarded in the eyes of Allah and is a clear distinction of the Ahle Bait(AS) over the Sahaba(RA).

There are about 15 differences mentioned in this thread to describe the status of Ahl albayat AS far above that of companions for Muslims and believers.

It proves that the words of the members of Ahl albayat of the prophet saww can never of denied or refused in comparison to the words of the companions of the prophet saww. All the matters including saqeefa, fadak, ghadeer, caliphate and Immamah etc the words of the purified and chosen Ahl albaayt (including 12 Imams) are the beacons of light for Muslims and believers.

The prophet is  covered in this verse of purification as a purified individual . No one else has this purified status except the prophet and his pure progeny ie Ahl albayat.

The other house members of the prophet saww may be included in the family of the prophet saww in general meaning without being covered in the purification verse.

You are well aware of all these meanings being a Veteran Member. of SC

But the other sons of Abdul muttalib didn't get zakat either did they?

My answer has already been given in my last post mentioning that "No one else has this purified status except the prophet and his pure progeny ie Ahl albayat."

For example (as per your assumption) if we consider  Abdullah Ibne Abbas RA and  Imam Ali AS then, it seems you consider both of same status of Purified ones but it is not correct in the light of the verse of purification. (33:33) and the hadiths of the prophet saww for its revelation and the actions of the prophet saww reciting this verse at the door of the house of Fatima SA for 6 months (after its revelation).

This thread has provided many clear differences between a companion / sahabi and the purified Ahl albayt AS of the prophet saww. These are sufficient evidences to reject your this  assumption.

Purified status is something altogether different

 

But what I'm asking is that in colloquial terms didn't Ahlebayt include the cousins and the uncles of Imam Ali?

I repeat again the answer is NO.

The only  possibility of being included in the family of the prophet saww in GENERAL meaning is mentioned earlier and given below:

"The other house members of the prophet saww (eg wives)  may be included in the family of the prophet saww in GENERAL meaning (without being covered in the purification verse)."

What was the term that was used to describe the extended family that is the uncles and cousins of the prophet

Wives is a different issue I'm not talking about them
