The Nostalgia Thread

Salaam aleikum jami'an

I thought we should have a thread, similar to the thoughts thread, devoted strictly to nostalgia.

This could be nostalgia specific to your country/culture, or something general, or something specific to yourself or your family/friends.

But I think we should lay down some rules:

1) No haraam stuff. I don't care how fun it was when you crashed your car while blasting "100 Miles and Runnin" on the stereo, don't bring it up here.

2) Don't insult other people's nostalgia. That's none of your beeswax.

Let's begin.

For the Iranians in the house:

Prepare yourself for this one:

There is more to come, of course. And not just Eye-ranian stuff. Just getting the ball rolling.

Good oneee

Almost anything from my childhood makes me nostalgic......

But I found this picture the other day and made me nostalgic.

This is the central court of the tennis club I played all my childhood and early teenage years... I won and lost many matches there, I had family and friends sit there to watch me, I played there with a friend that passed away...

Too many memories there :(

Bismehe Ta3ala,

Wa Alikum Assalam wa rahamah brother

Watch "Mr. Rogers "It's a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood".mp4" on YouTube

Reminds me to share with my boys. God's mercy on this man, he had a huge heart. Great thread idea brother Jackson.

YouTube comments are heartbreaking for once. Look how children entertainment used to be. Now it's all junk. Thank God my boys are not exposed to that Disney filth or Cartoon Network cr.p.

Watch "Mister Rogers Explained To Modern Kids" on YouTube

Did you watch it between 1996 and 98? In Arabic it's known as "Captain Majid".

Yeah bruv I originally learned that in Arabic it's called Captain Majed because my cousin had the Captain Majed video game for Micro Genius (or "micro" as we called it... a FamiClone as the Nintendo-dominated world calls it). The text of the game was all in Arabic. God knows how much Arabic we "learned" through playing that game. I forgot most of it though.

In Iran all the Japanese character and team names were preserved except for the name of Tsubasa's (Majed's) team. It was called "Team Shahin" for some reason. I always found that odd.

FYI I tried watching this show as an adult but it kind of sucks. I still love it for all the wonderful memories.

As usual, Ammar wins the internet with his post. Bravo to you, my good sir.

Mister Rogers was a great man mashAllah and his program should be held up as a model for akhlaqi children's entertainment/education.

My favorite part was when he would invite kids onto his show and ask them about their skills. He was always very respectful and showed interest in what the kids were doing.

I love me some Mister Rogers.

Fantastic thread.

I used to watch tons of old Jackie Movies when i was younger.

Police story 1,2,3

Project A 1&2

Drunken Master 1&2

Shanghai noon

Mr. NIce Guy

Who Am I .

Any many more titles I dont even think I know the titles of .  The stories were very basics but  seeing his movies somehow makes me instantly happy even today.

Captain Majid is universal or something, its the most neutral Anime you can export.

Saturday morning cartoons were very important to me when I was a kid. Even my parents would know not to bug me during my Saturday morning cartoons. I watched a whole lot of cool shows, here's just some of them:

Woody Woodpecker

Inspector Gadget

Road Runner and Wile E Coyote

And of course, can't forget about Tom and Jerry, Pokemon, Digimon, Dragon Ball Z, and so many more.
