Todays words:

1) Tapioca

2) 'yaffle' used as a synonym for 'prattle', which i'd never heard before and may be peculiar to the person who used it.

Thanks! i like zephyr too, ive never seen it spelt like that before.

A few days from now the only satisfying word will be 'food'.

Never liked the word 'food', it reminds me of school canteens for some reason. I prefer 'edibles'.

Bismehe Ta3ala,

Assalam Alikum

Wow, these words remind me of Sayyida Zaynab 3laha Salam and her father amir al mo2minean Imam Ali 3la salam.

equanimity - steadiness of mind under stress; "he accepted their problems with composure and she with equanimity"

ataraxia - peace of mind

Ya Allah show me and help me be in this state of condition.

M3 Salamah, FE AMIN Allah

Good Idea for a Thread. ^thumbs^

#2 El Cid "rendezvous" was popular with us in school.

#5 Ruq:  Tapioca -when we were little, my father called this "fish eyes" so we kids wouldn't eat it. Thereby, he had it about all to himself.

I am about done with a book on Indonesia.

"retrospective study" is a standout, and so is: dalang [puppet master]

Now, this maybe a little contrived, but how about "barak dalang obomba" ? :shifty:

Transcendence - I like how this word slips on my tongue.

Juggernaut - [MW def. "something (such as a force, campaign, or movement) that is extremely large and powerful and cannot be stopped". Interesting etymology]

Queer - a word I'm fixated with because I can never pronounce it properly even after listening to its pronunciation multiple times on Merriam-Webster. Kew-er or kew-eer or kuweer or kuwee-er?

Enchant - I use it for women, who are enchanting, hence for me the word has pseudo-romantic connotations.

More later.

@Laylaa, I also like 'equanimity' very much.

@Ruq, good idea, well done, we can perhaps teach one another new and exciting words.

I really like this one but I was a little disappointed with the way it is pronounced.. it sounded better in my head.

Cadence [ keyd-ns ]

1. rhythmic flow of a sequence of sounds or words: the cadence of language.

2. (in free verse) a rhythmic pattern that is nonmetrically structured.

3. the beat, rate, or measure of any rhythmic movement: The chorus line danced in rapid cadence.

In accordance with #1, I have made-up/contrived/coined a new word to encapsulate both US machinations, criminality and the NSA-media:

The national capital of the usa is: BrainWashingTown, Dalang City

dalang #8 means puppetmaster
