Shia Mosques In Montreal, Quebec

22 posts in this topic

(salam)

Does anyone know where the Shia mosques are in Montreal? I have never attended a Shia mosque nor have I talked with any Shia extensively so I am looking for a good Shia (12er/Jafari) Mosque I can go to and talk/increase my knowledge about Shia Islam. This website is very helpful but I am looking to talk in person with a Shia Person of Knowledge. Thanks in advance.

(salam)

I'm a Montrealer and I visit the mosques frequently .

The mosques that we have here are not open every day , so I will tell you which one is open at which day and you can visit us.

There is also a brother on this site, his username is ''HassoonBazoon'' and he comes to the mosque quit often. You can discuss Islam with him , he is knowledgeable .

If you have facebook, i can link you to the other Shia Brothers that I have on my friend list, that regularly go to the masjid in Montreal

Al- Haura Zaynab : Open on Friday nights ONLY (it is the one I go to)

Addresse : 2536 rue lapierre, lasalle H8N2W9

Phone ( dont call, just show up. If you call, chances are that no one will answer) : 514-363-6868

If you wish to come, come on friday nights from 9:30 PM. We finish at 1:00 AM , so make sure you have someone to give you a ride back home, as the métro and bus don't give service at night

Iranian Islamic Centre : Open on thursday nights ONLY (This masjid is known for old people. You won't find many youngsters. Usually there are about 10 people there and they start very very early. Also, there's no food) it is convenient since there is a bus right in front of this masjid .

Imam Hussein Foundation

4887 Coronation Avenue, Montreal, H4V 2E1

This is the most convenient masjid . They start at a regular hour on thursdays for Dua Komail. ( I think they start at 7:30 PM) Also, Dr.Khalil Tabatabai is the chief of that masjid. He is very knowledgeable about Islam and he speaks English too and the metro is right next to the masjid . They also have their son who is doing a great job in marketing the masjid, he posts every information on his facebook page , all the events..etc. They also have a big youtube channel (search for Imam Hussain foundation)

Shiane Haideri Islamic Association

2174 Belgrave Street, Montreal H4A 2L8

This masjid has programs on friday mornings. They offer Jumaa prayers, though not a lot of people show up. Just 20-25. They also have a program at night , after Maghreb. There is not a lot of Arabs. The people are mostly Khoja's . They speak English and they bring good English speakers. (they're also known for their organization)

If you ever come across a Masjid were Desi (Pakistani/Indian) people go in majority, you shall know that the only actively beside worshiping Allah is lots and lots of free food.

Imam Hussain Foundation is really good. I personally go there, I like how their program is divided into 2 speeches, one in english and the other in arabic.

I think they are all Sunni. The two Lebanese mosque that I know which are run by shia are Ccmmontreal.com and cilmontreal.org/en/

Good luck.

Az-Zahra Mosque

3642 Fleury Est.

It's mostly Lebanese, but I don't know their schedule.

CCMM and CIL are not exactly mosques, but they are Islamic centers.

There is one called Masjid Ahlillbait, located in Cote Des Neiges borough, which is not that far. I live in VSL myself, and it's a 5-10 minute drive. 3575 de Courtrai, something like that.

I dont know of any centres with english programs as it's a mostly francophone city, but Shiane Haidery Mosque holds english programs from time to time, and during Ramadhan the language of the program is usually in Arabic, Farsi or Urdu
