No justice for woman tasered to brain death

A Florida police officer who tasered a 20-year-old US woman until she was brain dead has been cleared of wrongdoing.

The Florida Highway Police says the officer was trying to prevent the woman from fleeing and cleared the officer of any wrongdoing this week.

Danielle Maudsley went into a coma in September after Florida Highway Police Trooper Daniel Cole tasered her in the back as she tried to escape from the police while handcuffed.

Maudsley had been detained and taken to a Florida Highway Patrol Station after being suspected of involvement in a hit-and-run accident.

Footage from a police cruiser dashboard camera shows the officer firing Taser electric waves into her back. She then spun, fell backwards, and smacked her head on the ground.

Doctors have expressed concern that the victim will most likely never wake up from the coma.

The Florida Highway Police says the officer was trying to prevent the woman from fleeing and cleared the officer of any wrongdoing this week.

"Tell me that's not excessive force. I'm not saying she was an angel, but she didn't deserve that," Cheryl Maudsley, the victim’s mother, said, adding that she was suing the police.

"He couldn't reach out and grab her? He was an arm's length away. My daughter is dead because of this. She won't come back,” she stated.

Experts have excoriated the policeman for his inappropriate use of the Taser, noting that he could have easily apprehended her.

The UK-based human rights group Amnesty International has called on US police and law enforcement agencies to limit the use of Tasers, which have killed at least 500 people in the United States since 2001.

“At least 500 people in the US have died since 2001 after being shocked with Tasers, either during their arrest or while in jail,” Amnesty International said in a report issued this month.

Researchers, citing documents obtained under the Freedom of Information Act, have pointed to dozens of cases of police use of Tasers that suggest deviations from government guidelines.

US police taser shock kills Florida man

A man allegedly acting disorderly outside an amusement park in the US state of Florida has died after being shocked with a taser gun by an off-duty police officer.

Adam Spencer Johnson, 33, was pronounced dead in a local hospital, after he was shocked with a taser gun by an officer for allegedly causing disturbances outside Universal Studios in Florida, the state funded BBC reported.

Johnson, who was struck before being arrested, apparently became unresponsive on the ground following the shock. Orlando City officers say they immediately tried to revive him.

The five off-duty officers say they had responded to a call from a security guard at the park, reporting of a man behaving "irrationally" outside the Cinemax theaters.

"He was kind of pacing around, grabbing his beard, grabbing his head and hair, and they were trying to get a hold of him. He was being disorderly," Orlando Police Department's Sgt Jones said.

All five officers involved in the case are to be placed on administrative leave until investigation is completed.

US police taser teenager to death

A Michigan police officer has killed a 15-year-old boy with a Taser stun gun in order to control the victim's 'reactions' in a brawl.

Brett Elder died on Sunday after Bay City police in Michigan used an electroshock weapon known as a Taser stun gun in order to restrain the teenage boy who was fighting another male in an apartment.

"After several attempts to diffuse the situation with the subjects, one of the male subjects attempted to go after other occupants of the apartment and attempted to fight the officers," AFP quoted the local police as saying.

Elder's aunt, Cindy Hender told reporters that her nephew "was flopping around and looked like a fish out of water ... His whole body was bent over."

Police said on Monday that "the male subject was tasered and taken into custody due to the subject's reactions."

The policeman, who used the gun on the late teenager, has been temporarily suspended awaiting further investigations into the boy's death.

Taser guns are designed to send electric high-voltage shockwaves through the target's body at close range, which leads to the disruption of the victim's muscles.

Amnesty International, a renowned human rights watchdog, has expressed grave concerns over the future use of such lethal weapons.

At least 315 people have been killed so far in similar events since the introduction of the Taser guns in 2001.

US police officer kills Marine in front of his children in California

Police in the US state of California have shot dead an unarmed Marine in a high school parking-lot in front of his two children.

Sergeant Manuel Loggins was shot inside his vehicle in the parking lot of San Clemente high school as he was returning home with his 9- and 14-year-old daughters last Tuesday morning.

Orange County police officials said Friday that an officer tried to pull over Loggins at about 4:30 a.m. as he sped through the parking lot’s gate. The officials say Loggins ignored the deputy officer's orders and yelled at him that prompted the officer to grow concerned about the safety of the children in the car.

"They were irrational statements that made the deputy be concerned for the safety of the children," Jim Amormino, a spokesman for the Orange County sheriff's department said.

However, authorities had previously claimed that the deputy feared for his life when he shot Loggins.

The incident comes a week after police shot to death an unarmed teenager in his grandmother's apartment in New York. Police say the 18-year-old was attempting to flush a bag of marijuana down the toilet. The boy was unarmed and the police did not have a warrant to enter the home.

New York Police killing of unarmed teen sparks outrage

The shooting of an unarmed teenager by the US law enforcement officers in New York has set off protests against the police for their use of deadly force, Press TV reports.

Ramarley Graham, 18, died last Thursday after Richard Haste, a New York police officer, chased him to his grandmother’s apartment, kicking the door open and shooting him in the chest.

Graham was shot in the upstairs bathroom after one officer screamed ‘gun, gun’ No weapon or drugs were found in the home or on the victim, a Press TV correspondent reported on Saturday.

Outraged protestors are demanding that the police officers involved in the incident to be criminally charged with murder.

The NYPD says Graham was running from the scene of a drug buy. But security video from his home shows the teen walking to open the door then being pursued by police who break in without a warrant.

Experts say the shooting can be linked to the NYPD’s aggressive street policing program called ‘Stop-and-Frisk.’ Critics say the program predominately targets low-income minority neighborhoods.

Graham lived in Wakefield, a low-income neighborhood with a large African-American and Caribbean immigrant population, raising renewed concerns about the prospect of the New York Police Department (NYPD)’s application of aggressive tactics.

Hahaha...

A Florida prisoner whom we will identify only as P.R. was beaten, suffered a serious eye injury, and assaulted by an inmate armed with a knife, all due to his refusal to submit to anal sex.

After six months of repeated threats and attacks by other inmates, at the end of his emotional endurance, he tried to commit suicide by slashing his wrists with a razor. In a letter to Human Rights Watch, he chronicled his unsuccessful efforts to induce prison authorities to protect him from abuse. Summing up these experiences, he wrote: "The opposite of compassion is not hatred, it's indifference."

Human Rights Watch undertook three years of research to expose the problem of male rape in U.S. prisons. The resulting 378-page report is based on information from over 200 prisoners spread among thirty-four states, some of whom were interviewed personally, as well as an exhaustive survey of state prison authorities.

http://www.hrw.org/r...ts/2001/prison/

In 2001, Human Rights Watch estimated that at least 140,000 inmates had been raped while incarcerated. [1] and there is a significant variation in the rates of prison rape by race. Just Detention International (formerly known as Stop Prisoner Rape, Inc.) estimate that young men are five times more likely to be attacked, and that the prison rape victims are ten times more likely to contract a deadly disease. A meta-analysis published in 2004 found a prevalence rate of 1.91% with a 95% confidence interval between 1.37–2.46%.[2] In a survey of 1,788 male inmates in Midwestern prisons by Prison Journal, about 21% claimed they had been coerced or pressured into sexual activity during their incarceration, and 7% claimed that they had been raped in their current facility.[3]

According to the study conducted by the United States Department of Justice for the year 2006, there were 2,205 allegations of inmate-on-inmate nonconsensual sexual acts reported, total, in the U.S. prison system. 262 of the allegations were substantiated.[4]

Prison rape has become a staple of comedy or drama in films and television. Films such as Office Space, Half Baked, and Let's Go to Prison have used it for comedic purposes, while prison drama Oz contained multiple scenes of rape. Kurt Vonnegut's novel Breakfast of Champions features a character, Wayne Hoobler, whose prison experience consisted of sexual encounters with other inmates.

Typical disgusting uncivilized fascist Americans. No doubt they find it funny because the majority of victims are African-Americans.

By the way, the US also leads the world in prison population and prison rape percentages. No Thank you, I'd rather stay in Iran.

Rodney Hulin, Jr. (March 2, 1978 - May 9, 1996) hanged himself in the Clemens Unit in unincorporated Brazoria County, Texas on January 26, 1996 after being raped in prison; Hulin died months after he fatally injured himself. Hulin became a symbol of a movement that advocated not placing juvenile offenders in adult institutions.

http://en.wikipedia....of_Rodney_Hulin

You are right this happens in America on a regular basis but we don't rape them first to keep them out of heaven.

Also I may point out that your allegation is a Jewish slander against Iran.

I love America, warts and all.

You love Iran, warts and all.

Lets leave it at that.

I know this is a response to another inflammatory thread of a similiar theme, but threads like these are only flamebait and do nothing to promote brotherhood that should exist amongst believers. Maybe I'm just weird though.

Anti muslim film being shown to all police recruits in NY

http://www.reuters.c...012 PRN20120124

The New York Times reports today that, despite NYPD denials last year, the propaganda film "was shown to more than a thousand officers as part of training in the New York Police Department." According to the film's narrator, the "true agenda of much of Islam in America" is to "infiltrate and dominate America. . .This is the war you don't know about."

As today's Times article states: "In January 2011, when news broke that the department had used the film in training, a top police official denied it, then said it had been mistakenly screened 'a couple of times' for a few officers. A year later, police documents obtained under the state's Freedom of Information Law reveal a different reality: 'The Third Jihad,'. . .was shown, according to internal police reports, 'on a continuous loop' for between three months and one year of training. During that time, at least 1,489 police officers, from lieutenants to detectives to patrol officers, saw the film."

Hello Izrail,

It is interesting how it does seem to be a form of copying the thread I started. However, what I think many people are failing to understand is that the blog by David Gerwartz, "Why I am lucky to live in America, not Iran" at the link
http://www.zdnet.com...ot-iran/11176
is of a deeper issue than just comparing the freedoms in two very different countries. David Gerwartz, in his article, is trying to help the Iranians who are being oppressed. Did you not understand this in the article? Though some may label it inflammatory, if one looks deeper, one can see that David Gerwartz is trying to use his talents and position to give voice to people in Iran who are being unjustly arrested. I am curious why more people cannot see this? If this is "flameball" to you, please explain how a blogger can help these people?

May God rescue the Iranians in Iran who are being unjustly arrested and may God help their families.

Peace and God bless you

People live in Iran,
People live in United States,

People live in their respective countries for thousands of years,

Mothers and Motherlands are not the product at the counters to pick like british business petroleum,
Where you visit, test, watch the display and shout: “This One!”

The relation between mother and son is not a business partnership,
The relation between mother and son is not a trade of diamonds,
The relation between mother and son is not a business partnership,

Yes, people travel countries to gain knowledge and experience and may be money according to the standards of their understandings,

The choice of apple does not illegitimate the choice of grapes.

American regime relies on ignorance, apathy and passiveness of its people to survive. It keeps them in this condition through a wide variety of media (print, television, radio, websites) that bombards their people and have a monopoly on media through tight media laws, the owners of these media, are old grey men, and Jews, who established themselves after being accused of murdering the Tsar, who are close to the established elite, and are induced to follow their lead in a game of mutual exchange (we give you the exclusive stories, data and facts, you give us the coverage we expect from you).

It is also very much a diploma-based society. In the sense that "we the guys who studied for politics will discuss it" while the rest is busied with pornography, diabetics foods and other useless gadgets so their regime can have its way with the world, without criticism.

It is a terrible society, especially because it is archetypal for what we would normally regard a brainwashed society, giving people the illusion they have freedom of speech, human rights, and other French ideals that they in fact do not. Their deficiency is not only freedom of speech or human rights, but the ability to create an 'informed opinion' based on analytical capacity and comparative culture, social context etc. is entirely absent.

Hello Philip,

Whether you are being sarcastic or sincere, I agree with you. I pray for my country that God will help my country be better in terms of how American leaders and authority figures relate to people (both in the USA and in other countries), and how people live.

Peace and God bless you

neoConZionistlady,

Hello Shiasoldier,

Jesus said that his followers would be insulted and hated, so I am not surprised by your insults of me and your false accusations.
However, I am learning that it is better to be insulted, and to pray for and bless those who insult me, then to insult back, because it does not take intelligence, maturity, integrity, or a heart of love for God, in order to insult someone and throw out false accusations.

how is that different to this topic about how Americans are being oppressed. Innocent Americans being unjustly arrested at occupy movements, having brute forces used on them, policemen being shown movies in which muslims are portrayed as terrorists, etc...

If you wish to help Americans who are being oppressed, please feel free to jump on the bandwagon to do so. Many Americans who love their country are working hard to help the oppressed, and If in your heart, you love Americans who are being oppressed and wish to help, that would be awesome. Please do so.

Peace and God bless you

Oh please, stop giving us your holier than thou attitude. Ever since you have came on the forum, you've had an obsession with posting articles about how backward and oppressive Iran is. Look at the mess the US has created all over the world, and try to fix your own country before posting ridiculous stuff about Iran from dubious sources.

Hello Christian Lady,

May God's peace and blessings be with you as well.

i was not being sarcastic. You are currently being run by a nazi-like government that has little or no association with basic monotheistic principles of

don't kill

don't steal

don't lie

don't rape

etc.

of course this counts for both domestic and foreign ways (especially the muslim people of the world these days)

muslims are being discriminated everywhere by your government, and tax payers money is being spent in bloody ways that Jesus (as) would never approve of. Actually, Iran is much more in line with Jesus's (as) message and way of life. They are a peaceful and honorable nation, longing to go back to their creator. Also, they are patiently waiting for Jesus's (as) return, without waging wars with other countries.

the iranian intention is clear. they want to abide by their God-loving ways .. which is of course controversial issue, but still i would rather be living in a country that has God on its side.

you have orthodox jews highly respected in iran

i wish the muslims in the US could say the same. Fact is that muslims in the US are being discriminated against, and the media made the word terrorist synonymous with islam.

So, if i had the choice between iran and us, i'd chose iran any day .. even though they might be fewer in number and weapons .. just like david (as) and goliath.

then you also have unconstitutional NDAA, NSA, and similar issues oppressing american people in general now .. not just muslim / arab people.

May Allah help the truth-seeking and God-fearing Americans against the evil in their political system.

Peace and blessings of God upon you Christianlady

Hello Philip,

Thanks :) and thanks for your courtesy. I appreciate it, and sometimes when writing to Muslims, I am just getting used to some of them being sarcastic and insulting and falsely accusing me of things. So, I do truly appreciate your concern for my country, and I understand it. I am concerned for my country as well, and for the earth, which is impacted a lot by what my country does.

You are currently being run by a nazi-like government that has little or no association with basic monotheistic principles of

Nazi is a very strong (in a bad way) word, and I don't personally believe that the US government is Nazi-like yet, though definitely the CIA torture and invading other countries is Nazi-like, that is true, so I understand your point there. Yes you are right that the basic monotheistic principles, which include the Ten Commandments, are not being respected and obeyed by the US government, both in the USA and in their dealings with other countries.

don't kill

don't steal

don't lie

don't rape

etc.

Understood, and it very much saddens me that my government (and other governments too) are guilty of these things by allowing/even ordering soldiers to do such things. Also, police and FBI do need to make sure not to break these commands too, but sad to say, more and more people in the USA are not believing in God and do not desire to obey who they don't believe. This is not just happening in the USA alone... this is happening around the world. Jesus prophesied that this would happen.

Matthew 24 (NIV) - I boldened some.

"4 Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many. 6 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of birth pains.
9 “Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. 10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold,13 but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come."

of course this counts for both domestic and foreign ways (especially the muslim people of the world these days)

Understood

muslims are being discriminated everywhere by your government, and tax payers money is being spent in bloody ways that Jesus (as) would never approve of.

True :(

Actually, Iran is much more in line with Jesus's (as) message and way of life. They are a peaceful and honorable nation, longing to go back to their creator. Also, they are patiently waiting for Jesus's (as) return, without waging wars with other countries.

There are many people who not believe the above, especially in regards to Israel. If Iran's government did love Jesus, who is Jewish and who taught in the temple in Jerusalem (before the Romans destroyed it), why do they not work with the Israeli government to strive to bring the Jewish people and the Palestinian people to peace without bloodshed?

Also, according to Robert Fisk, in his book The Great War for Civilisation, the Iranian government has done terrible things to their own citizens (including murder, lies, and rape) which are not at all obeying the commands of Jesus. (Please read his book on Savak, pages 99, 103, 105, 111-112, and 128) Savak is not obedient to Jesus' teachings at all, because Jesus taught to love one's enemies, forgive, bless and do good.

Luke 6 (NIV)

"27But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. 29 If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them. 30 Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. 31 Do to others as you would have them do to you.
32 “If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. 33 And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that. 34 And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full. 35 But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. 36 Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful."

Sadly, the USA has a horrible record in obeying Jesus' teachings, including with how the US government long ago treated the Native Americans and African Americans.

the iranian intention is clear. they want to abide by their God-loving ways .. which is of course controversial issue, but still i would rather be living in a country that has God on its side.

Every nation thinks that God is on its side. During the Crusades, the soldiers who massacred thousands of Muslims, Christians, and Jewish people thought that God was on its side. The battle cry of the Crusaders is "God wills it." However, just thinking that a nation or a group has God on its side does not mean that it is true. I personally do not believe God willed ignorant soldiers to kill people of other beliefs. So, merely stating that a nation has God on its side is not seeing the whole picture. Do you honestly believe that the Iranian government is 100% perfect and has never ordered the death of an innocent person? Do you believe Savak does not exist?

you have orthodox jews highly respected in iran

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7f-aMgfGs_A&feature=player_embedded

Are they allowed to live there if they do not agree with the Iranian government? Or must they agree with the Iranian government in order to live there?

i wish the muslims in the US could say the same. Fact is that muslims in the US are being discriminated against, and the media made the word terrorist synonymous with islam.

There are many Muslims in the USA: Muslim Americans. I don't know quite how many, but I do know there are many. Sad to say, there are people who discriminate against people of other beliefs living in many countries. There are many Muslims in the UK too, and there are also people who discriminate against them there. However, there are also many Non Muslim Americans in the USA who do not disciminate against Muslms, and there are many UK Non Muslim people who do not discriminate against Muslims in the UK. Hopefully in Iran, Christians, who are the minority, are blessed with Muslims who do not discriminate against them. Do you know any Christians in Iran? It would be interesting to hear what they say concerning how Muslims treat them. Are there any Christians on this forum who live in Iran? If not, why?

So, if i had the choice between iran and us, i'd chose iran any day .. even though they might be fewer in number and weapons .. just like david (as) and goliath.

That is fine. I choose the USA, because I was born here, my family live here, and I know God can help the USA repent of her sins and change, if more and more people understand that and decide to live for God. God has blessed the USA in many ways, and I pray that the USA in general acknowledges that, and does what God says to King Solomon, after Solomon finished building the temple in Jerusalem:

2 Chronicles 7 (NIV) - I boldened some.
" 11 When Solomon had finished the temple of the LORD and the royal palace, and had succeeded in carrying out all he had in mind to do in the temple of the LORD and in his own palace, 12 the LORD appeared to him at night and said:
“I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for myself as a temple for sacrifices.
13 “When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, 14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."

Although obviously the USA is not Israel, the USA has sinned in many ways, and the people in the USA need to humble ourselves, pray, seek the face of God, turn from our wicked ways, and live for God!

then you also have unconstitutional NDAA, NSA, and similar issues oppressing american people in general now .. not just muslim / arab people

.
There is much that needs change in the USA, and it starts with the inviduals deciding to live for God.

May Allah help the truth-seeking and God-fearing Americans against the evil in their political system.

May God help Americans and Iranians and all people of the earth to not allow evil in our political systems, but to live right for God.

Peace and blessings of God upon you Christianlady

Thanks. Peace and God's blessings on you too. By the way, I very much like your screenname. Philip was one of the chosen apostles of Jesus (Matthew 10:1-4, John 1:44-46, Acts 8:26-40)

in regards to Israel. If Iran's government did love Jesus, who is Jewish and who taught in the temple in Jerusalem (before the Romans destroyed it), why do they not work with the Israeli government to strive to bring the Jewish people and the Palestinian people to peace without bloodshed?

The israelis are the ones who have blood on their hands, not the Iranians. The israelis have stolen the palestinian lands, occupied it, killed its people, and taken control of western media to spread lies. the point is that the life of a jew is not worth more than the life of a non-jew. they don't want peace. and now for years israel has been threatening to attack iran. how can iran make peace with somebody openly saying to the world they want to bomb you?

The israeli zionists have gone against their prophetic teachings and there is hardly any palestinian land left for the palestinians. it's is not 2-sided story. what they have almost achieved now is in line with what the americans did with their own native population.

Thanks. Peace and God's blessings on you too. By the way, I very much like your screenname. Philip was one of the chosen apostles of Jesus

well thank you very much, i love the name Philip very much as well. it means lover of horses and of course it's one of the chosen apostles of Jesus, which means he was a great servant of God.

Do you honestly believe that the Iranian government is 100% perfect

definitely not. Only God is "100% perfect", but compared to American/ Israeli history they are quite close to perfection.

May God help Americans and Iranians and all people of the earth to not allow evil in our political systems, but to live right for God.

may God hear this prayer

you sound as if you are justifying that fat cop KILLING her ! and then getting away with it legally as well . in a society like the US i don't blame drug addicts who are obviously trying to escape from something. shame on you

I am not justifying anything done by that cop.

I have sympathy for her victims as they were innocent. Too bad you don't.

Sounds like you are justifying her right to victimize others with grand theft and hit and runs.

Shame on you.

We are talking about the LIFE if a person .. which can not be compared to material objects .. Something you don't seem to understand revealing a shameful spiritual state of yours.

Sympathizing with people who lose their material things while NOT sympathizing with a girl that's killed by a far ugly police man. Shame on you!

Let me guess .. Your spiritual ignorance is hinting to me you're an atheist who thinks we are all machines .. is that true?

Let's hope the cars that get stolen and driven by those high on drugs are not yours and the people injured in the hit and runs are not your loved ones. Save your sympathy for those who deserve it and if you are going to question someones intentions and level of ignorance, let it be your own.

Christianlady i hope you are aware that in 2003 iran offered to recognize israel based on the 1967 borders and normalize relations but israel refused so please stop putting jews on some pedastal. Even in the quran jews were promised a special covenant with God but this does not make them superior to others on the basis of lineage. This notion that God is a racist real estate agent is the pinnacle of hypocrisy for a religion that claims to preach love and equaliy

If Iranians live in America they are named Iranian-American,
If British live in America they are named Anglo-American,

But,

If ‘BP’ lives in America it is named subsidiary,
If ‘BP’ lives in Iran it is named subsidiary,

People may live in any country as owners,
But, ‘BP’ lives as a subsidiary while owners live in London!!!
Why is this???

If Iranians live in America they never try to topple American government making its president a prisoner,
But if ‘BP’ lives in Iran it topples Mossadiq’s government making him a prisoner,
Why is this???

Why ‘BP’ does not live like Iranians live???
Why is this???

Who gives ‘British Petroleum’ such a power???
Why is this???

‘BP’ and its illiterate backward greedy masters should learn things from Iranians.
