Walaykum salam, I am an American revert and I live in Dayton Ohio which is not that far from Richmond Indiana. Is there a lot of sisters in your area there is not very many Shia here in Dayton. I can be contacted at lisaalsaedi@hotmail.com if you are interested in communicating.
Lisa

Congratulations on your reversion! Mashallah I'm so glad to hear that you have found the right path. I'm also a revert - I reverted May 2008, just a little over a year ago. I'm in the US unfortunately though, not the UK, but I thought I would say hi anyway. :)

And Ramadhan kareem by the way! Are you fasting? If so, how is it going for you? This is my second one and alhamdilulah it is going very well.

I live in Canada, Ontario to be a little more accurate. I know a few sisters in my area who are converts as well, but they have children and get busy with there lives. My husband and I often go to dearborn to the mosque there, but for some reason i find it a little hard to be "friendly" with sisters there....

Wa Alaikum asSalam wa Rahmatullah

I am living in Ontario, Canada now too, in Kitchener/Waterloo to be exact, but I'm looking to visit and maybe move to Windsor to attend the hawza there. That is what brought me to shia chat, but I would love to make friends of revert sisters too inshAllah. Let me know if you are near to me please :)

Ruqaya,

I think that you have to post about 50 posts to be able to send private messages.
I already sent you an e-mail.

when did u convert ?

I started praying salat september time last year, so i guess thats when i consider my reversion to of occured, although ive pretty much always believed in one God, prophethood (though from a non-religious family) and had no problem accepting Mohammed (saw) as the final prophet, or Imam Ali(as) as his sucessor, that seemed obvious and natural. Im now in the process of trying to educate myself about the necessaries and more. I know this is a process every person is in and one that never stops, but i think im going to feel incredibly ignorant for a very long time :squeez: so much to learn! :) alhamdullillah.

Salamu alykum, not sure if you noticed my previous post, but I am a revert sister living Birmingham and I have been Muslim for around 10 years now, would love to make friends with you inshallah, it seems you live in a similar area of the UK too alhamdulillah. As for feeling intimidated, relish it, that means you are humble alhamdulillah, but also don't worry, because confidence in your Islamic identity and knowledge will definitly come in time inshallah. I felt exactly the same at first, especially as I jumped in head first (I advise you take things at your own speed inshallah) I hope that your knowledge, faith and Irfan(closeness to Allah-swt) grow tromendously inshallah. Any questions you have about me, Islam in general, or if you want to talk about your experiences, please let me know inshallah, I can't private message yet, I am trying to increase my number of posts inshallah, so that I will eventually be able to inshallah.

Salams and du'as inshallah

salamu alaikum sister Maryammm and all the others posting here!

I am very new to this site.. I was born muslim (sunni - my father is Palestinian but my mother is English) but reverted to Shia beliefs after i was 'saved' from a life that was spiralling out of control a little.. Like you, i feel i jumped in head first to prove to everyone that I could do it and I was strong. For example i started wearing physical hijab almost straight away but then found myself not always wearing it out, for example if I was meeting friends I thought wouldn't approve i would make excuses 'oh, i'll wear it next time' etc... I have almost NO muslim friends simply because i have become worried about socialising at mosque etc even though i live in north west london which is full of opportunities, simply because i worry people will think i am not serious.. Maybe I have not made the effort but i feel I have missed having guidance from people (sisters) who know what i'm going through as a revert.. I would love to be able to connect with other people in my position, to guide me and help me get through the hurdles that we face/have faced.. if anyone is willing to help me please do let me know!

i don't know how to use this site yet really, so help with that would be appreciated too! :D

barakallah beekom (for those that have taken time to read my essay!)

Fi aman Allah :)

Salam, and thank you for showing interest in helping me.. it is very much appreciated! i will write to you on your profile inshallah :)

shialady, my conversion has been a very long process, which started back in 2008!

i'm afraid though that although i have known the shia path is the one for me since then, i have been distracted and so have definitely not been as proactive as i should have :(

so i guess you could say my real conversion is taking place now!
