Imam Khomeini was symbol of Islam (2009/06/01 - 18:32)

Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei Monday morning in a meeting with members of the committee of holding commemoration ceremonies for the 20th demise anniversary of Imam Khomeini said that the late Imam was symbol of Islam and key to independence, dignity and unity of Iran, adding that the precious heritage of Imam must be preserved by all means and his memory must be kept alive as a divine blessing.

The IR Leader said that it was a sign of greatness of Imam Khomeini's personality that despite the passage of many years from his demise, new dimensions of his personality are being understood now.

"The great architect of the Islamic Revolution was so competent that God manifested His blessing and will through him and Imam became the most important means to materialize the great miracle of God which was the Islamic Revolution," the IR Leader said.

Ayatollah Khamenei said Imam was the bright center of unity of nation so that even his opponents respected him in mind and appreciated his greatness.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the Imam turned into symbol of Islam through reliance on Islam, adding even after twenty years from the demise of Imam, the Iranian nation and the Muslim world continue to consider him as symbol of Islam.

The IR Leader said the deep and heartfelt affection of the Iranian nation to Imam has helped his thoughts to dominate other thoughts in society, adding that it was a notable reality that all political inclinations even those which do not believe in some of Imam's thoughts introduce themselves as supporters of Imam because they know that for the Iranian people on whose votes the Islamic system is based, it is a value to support Imam.

Ayatollah Khamenei then said that the nations and world intellectuals support Imam Khomeini because the principles of his thoughts had been taken from true Islam, adding that Imam Khomeini without any reservations stated the principles of true Islam in a prideful manner.

The IR Leader considered Imam Khomeini as true symbol of independence and national unity, adding that God has created and trained his pious servant in a way that without any shame he stood against the aggression of political bullies of the world and against the flood of their accusations that the principles are fundamentalist, he defended the true Islam in a prideful manner and for the same reason he turned into the symbol of dignity of the Iranian nation.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that the unity of Iranian people of different religious, ethnic or political groups showed the capacity of Imam Khomeini to create unity in the country. He then warned that some are trying to destroy the blessed unity.

Pointing to Zahedan bombing, Ayatollah Khamenei said that following the incident the enemies tried to disturb the situation. He urged people to be vigilant and do not allow the dreams of enemies of independence and progress of the country to be fulfilled. Ayatollah Khamenei added however that the people are vigilant and would take decision through their special understanding.

Ayatollah Khamenei urged all Iranian people of different religious, ethnic or political groups to preserve and consolidate their national unity as the precious heritage of Imam Khomeini.

Iran leader issues veiled criticism of moderates

By Zahra Hosseinian

June 5, 2009

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran’s Supreme leader said on Thursday the Islamic Republic’s “honour” in the world should not be questioned, in an apparent criticism of reformers challenging President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in this month’s election.

Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei spoke a day after a leading moderate rival accused the conservative president of humiliating the nation by adopting “extremist” foreign policies.

Former Prime Minister Mirhossein Mousavi made the allegation in a heated televised debate which underlined clear policy and personality differences between the two candidates widely viewed as front-runners in the June 12 presidential election.

The 90-minute debate, broadcast live on state television, captivated the nation as the candidates traded blows on issues ranging from the economy and relations with the United States to the Holocaust, which Ahmadinejad has repeatedly questioned.

Ahmadinejad’s critics, including some conservatives, say his fiery anti-Western speeches have isolated Iran, which is at odds with the West over its disputed nuclear work.

Khamenei has in the past praised Ahmadinejad’s handling of the nuclear issue and last month called on Iranians to back an anti-Western candidate, without mentioning any names.

“The honor of our nation today is reflected in the world,” Khamenei said in a televised speech to mark the 20th anniversary of the death of his predecessor Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.

“I do not accept the sayings of those who imagine that our nation has become belittled in the world because of its commitment to its principles ... this path will continue until final victory,” he said.

NO ELECTION “CHAOS”

Iran says its nuclear program is only for electricity generation. The West suspects it is to build nuclear weapons.

Mousavi has said he would continue nuclear talks with major powers if he is elected president, in contrast to Ahmadinejad, who has ruled out any such negotiations with the United States, Russia, China, France, Germany and Britain.

Mousavi said in Wednesday’s debate that Iranians’ dignity had been damaged since Ahmadinejad was elected in 2005.

The president hit back, accusing Mousavi and his backers, including reformist former President Mohammad Khatami, of trying to weaken Iran by wanting a policy of “detente” with the West.

The streets of the capital Tehran were largely deserted as millions of Iranians watched the debate. Rival supporters poured into the streets after it was over, holding photographs of their candidates, shouting and honking car horns.

It is the first time since Iran’s 1979 Islamic revolution that such debates have been aired in a presidential election.

Khamenei, whose words can sway millions of loyalists to the Islamic Republic’s ideals, urged calm in the election campaign in order to avoid “enmity” and “chaos.”

“I do not have any problems with debates and criticism but try to do it in the right framework of sharia and religion,” he said, referring to Islamic law.

Ya Allah

Salams

Imam Khamenei (HA) spoke today:

The text of the message is as follows.

In the Name of God

Dear Iranian nation,

Aware, brave and timely men and women,

God's blessing to you for you proved your qualifications for receiving the blessings of God. Your epic Friday was a marvelous and exceptional event which beautifully and magnificently displayed to the world the political growth and determined revolutionary face and civil capacity of the Iranian nation.

The dignity and sovereignty which you showed by your calm and perfection in the country's history and the stout-heartedness you showed in the fateful ground amid the frenzy of enemy psychological war is so important that it could not be stated by regular remarks. One can only say that the Iranian nation has maintained its capacity for God's blessing and keep the support of God in the country's progress.

Khordad 22nd elections set a new record in the long history of Iranian elections. Participation of more than eighty percent in the elections and the 24 million vote to the president-elect is a real festival which by the favor of God could guarantee the progress, security and enduring enthusiasm in the country. Yesterday you proved that Iran thank to the Islamic, revolutionary slogans and values even thirty years after the inception of religious democracy in the country, is more alive and enthusiastic than ever and ensures friends and enemies that it would continue its bright way.

Modest towards the will and faith of you dear people, I congratulated the great accomplishment6 to Hazrat Valiollah Azam, to soul of Imam Khomeini and to every one of the people. I urge all people to cherish the favor of God and offer gratitude to the all-wise, all-knowing God.

Enemies would apparently seek to ruin the sweetness of the event through some provocations. I advise all people, especially the dear youths who were the liveliest players in the enthusiastic event, to keep vigilance. Saturdays after elections must always be day of affection and patience. Either supporters of the elected candidate or supporters of other respected candidates must avoid any provocative and ill wishing moves. The president-elect is the president of all Iranian people; every one including the rivals of yesterday must unanimously support and help him. No doubt, this is another Divine test which could attract God's blessing if passed successful.

I feel obliged to offer my sincere thanks to al those who played a role in creating the great event: the respected candidates who drew people of different social and political tastes to the scene through expression of their political and economic viewpoints; elites who invited their audience to the great test; grand Marjas and alims; university scholars; cultural and political personalities; the national media (IRIB), its managers, designers, anchor persons and artists whose admirable innovations played a fateful role in the unforgettable event; the Ministry of the Interior and the respected Guardian Council which met their obligations sincerely and honestly; the police and other security keeping bodies which secured a healthy, tranquil and open space for people and finally and more than others, every one of the voters who earned dignity and security for themselves and their country.

I again heartedly thank the dear and all-mighty God and ask his to bestow His guidance on this nation and this poor servant. I offer greetings to Valiollah Azam and pin hope in the prayers and support of the true owner of this country. I also offer greetings to the soul of the departed Imam and the pure souls of the dear martyrs.

Wassalam-u Alaikom wa Rahmatollah

40 million votes cast for Islamic System

June 16, 2009

13059_549.jpg

Representatives of the four Iranian presidential candidates in an amicable meeting with Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei expressed their views in clear terms regarding the 10th presidential elections.

In the meeting also attended by delegates of bodies in charge of elections, including the constitutional Guardian Council, Ministry of the Interior, National Audit Body and Elections Propaganda Commission, the relevant authorities provided the four candidates' representatives with some explanations about the elections.

Ayatollah Khamenei then in some remarks said elections have always been a symbol of unity and national dignity in Iran.

The IR Leader said the participation of almost 40 million people in the elections, is an honor for the Islamic system and all the voters with different attitudes share this great event and all are duty bound to protect this national unity.

“Voters have different political attitudes but they are all the same in their belief in the Islamic Republic and their support for the Islamic System,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.

“The friendly atmosphere that existed prior to the elections should not turn into an atmosphere of confrontation and enmity after the elections, since both groups of the voters believe in the Islamic system,” the IR Leader said.

“It is an accepted norm in democracy that the majority should rule, but this does not mean creating enmity and all are obliged to avoid making an atmosphere of confrontation,” he urged.

Ayatollah Khamenei underlined that all objections to the elections should be made through legal channels, adding, “I urge the Guardian Council and the Interior Ministry to closely investigate all the objections so that no doubtful point is left.”

“If needed, votes in some ballot boxes should be counted in the presence of representatives of the presidential candidates,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.

The IR Leader advised both the winners and losers in the elections to have patience and be careful about their conduct.

Referring to the agitators in the streets, Ayatollah Khamenei said those people are not supporters of any candidate “rather they are against the Islamic system and only support tension in the society.”

Supreme Leader Meets with Representatives of Presidential Candidates

June 16, 2009

ent-nam-880326.jpg

Following the post-election protests in Iran, representatives of the campaign offices of the presidential candidates held a friendly meeting with Ayatollah Khamenei on Thursday. The representatives explicitly expressed their views of the presidential election and the resultant issues, prompting explanations from the officials in charge of the election.

Speaking at the meeting, which was also attended by representatives of the Guardian Council, Ayatollah Khamenei stressed that Iran’s elections have always been the manifestation of national unity and grandeur. He further added: “The presence of almost 40 million people at the polling stations is an honour for the Islamic Republic. All the voters, regardless of their tendencies, played a role in this regard. It is everybody’s duty to safeguard national unity.”

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that the people voted for the Islamic Republic by their presence in the election. “In all the elections, the main focus has always been on high voter turnout. That is because the presence of the people in the elections is a manifestation of national unity and grandeur, and indicative of their awareness and their vote for the Islamic Republic.”

His Eminence stressed that elections must not turn into a means of fomenting discord among the people, further reiterating: “It is a big mistake to imagine that 24 million people have been pitched against 14 million people in this election because those who voted for the president-elect and other candidates are all equally committed to the Islamic Republic.”

He added: “Voters tend to have various tendencies in our elections, but they all share the same view when it comes to supporting the Islamic Republic.”

Ayatollah Khamenei said national unity was the most important issue in the presidential election and was manifested through the presence of almost 40 million people at the polling stations. “During the electoral campaigns, people were present in the streets in an enthusiastic atmosphere, supporting their candidates without involving in any kind of confrontation. This is indicative of the existence of genuine democracy in the Islamic Republic,” he stated.

The Supreme Leader reiterated: “This friendly atmosphere must not turn into an atmosphere in which confrontation and hostility are prevalent because all voters are members of the Iranian nation, and they all believe in the Islamic Republic.”

Ayatollah Khamenei added: “Of course according to the principles of democracy, the majority are preferred to the minority, but this does not mean enmity and confrontation. It is everybody’s duty to prevent the formation of an atmosphere in which conflict and division are prevalent.”

His Eminence stressed that the complaints have to be pursued through legal channels and reiterated: “These complaints have to be investigated. I hereby ask the Guardian Council and the Interior Ministry to meticulously investigate the complaints and clear the ambiguities.”

He added: “If investigation of the complaints requires recounting certain ballot boxes, this has to be done in the presence of the representatives of the candidates’ campaign offices so that everybody is assured of the accuracy.”

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that he has always trusted the officials in charge of holding the elections, and added: “I have always trusted the officials in charge of elections although they have been from different political groups. But this should not prevent the officials from conducting an investigation in order to remove the doubts about the elections.”

Ayatollah Khamenei said that the presence of around 40 million people in the election was unprecedented during the past thirty years and added that it is a great honor which has to be appreciated.

He said that all the parties involved in the elections should take certain considerations into account and advised the followers of both the winning and the defeated parties to exercise patience and act considerately.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that having the capacity to deal with success or failure is a human virtue and a cultural norm which has to be promoted among the people and elites.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that there are some people who are opposed to the unity of the people and power of the Islamic Republic. “These people are the ones who spread rumours and even engage in vandalism.”

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that those who commit these crimes and involve in acts of vandalism are saboteurs and not supporters of the candidates, and stated that everyone should stand against these people.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that no one should think that these people are the supporters of a particular candidate and added: “Those who engage in these acts are opposed to the Islamic Republic and security of the country.”

He further added: “Those who do these things are after causing chaos. And even if the result of the election had been different, they would definitely have done these things nonetheless.”

Ayatollah Khamenei said that there are some people who have targeted the security of the country. He reiterated that everyone should explicitly state that they are opposed to turbulence and tension.

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution said it is everyone’s duty to defend the collective identity of the nation and the Islamic Republic and prevent the people form confronting one another.

Leader: Nation’s turnout rattled enemies

Fri, 19 Jun 2009

rabbani20090619132919609.JPG

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei addressing Friday prayers in the capital, Tehran on Friday

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution has described the ‘unprecedented’ turnout of almost 85% in the election as a ‘political quake’ for the enemy.

Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei said high turnout in the election, which witnessed more than 40 million Iranians casting their votes, was a great manifestation of people’s solidarity with the Islamic establishment.

Addressing Friday prayers congregation -- attended by millions of people -- Ayatollah Khamenei said that last Friday’s election indicated a ‘common sense of responsibility’ of the Iranian nation to determine the future of the country.

The Leader added that all those who took part in the election proved their ‘political consciousness and commitment’ towards the establishment to the whole world.

The Leader said the high voter turnout in the election was a ‘political quake’ for the enemy and a ‘real celebration’ for the friends of the country.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran will by no means betray the votes of the nation,” the Leader said, adding the legal system of the election will not allow any ballot rigging in Iran.

Ayatollah Khamenei, however, maintained that the Guardian Council, the body tasked with overseeing the election, would look into the complaints of the candidates who are unhappy with the election results.

The Leader also added that the establishment would never give-in to illegal demands, urging all presidential candidates to pursue their complaints through legal channels. Ayatollah Khamenei called for an end to illegal street protests aimed at reversing the result of the election.

Following the announcement of the election outcome, supporters of the defeated candidate Mir-Hossein Mousavi-who rejected the election results -- took to the streets of Tehran and other cities in daily rallies.

The leader further urged all presidential candidates to be vigilant in the face of what he called enemy plots to sow the seeds of division among the walks of the nation. Ayatollah Khamenei said enemies are trying to undermine people’s trust in the establishment.

The Leader also warned against attempts made by foreign media outlets seeking to destabilize the country and blamed Britain in particular.

President Ahmadinejad was re-elected the next president of the country with over 60% percent of the votes.

He won over his three rivals Mir-Hossein Mousavi, Mahdi Karroubi and Mohsen Rezaei with almost 25 million votes.

The Leader said the time is over for rivalry, stressing that all should unite and line up behind the president-elect.

Ayatollah Khamenei’s Friday sermon

June 20, 2009

13119_807.jpg

Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei in a landmark Friday prayers policy speech laid down clear markers on the current presidential elections developments in the Islamic Republic.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the exceptional and epic turnout in the June 12 elections was a great show of trust and hope on the part of nation, a political earthquake for enemies and a historical celebration for friends of Iran and the Revolution.

Ayatollah Khamenei said all the 40 million people who turned out for ballot have actually voted for Imam, the Revolution and its martyrs, adding that the four competing presidential candidates belong to the Islamic establishment and therefore they are going to have to pursue their electoral issues within the existing transparent laws and regulations.

Ayatollah Khamenei highly appreciated the magnificent turnout of people at the ballot boxes and called it a large show of responsibility and participation, adding that the epic solidarity of the people with the Islamic establishment and the exceptional 85 percent turnout in the elections was a blessing from God and a sign of attention from the Last Shi’i Imam, Hadhrat Mahdi.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the enthusiastic presence of the youths in the tenth presidential elections proved that political responsibility was still alive in the young generation. He then offered his heartfelt gratitude to the nation for the large turnout.

The IR Leader then pointed to the existence of different opinions and tastes within society, adding however that behind all those different tastes, there was a collective responsibility for preservation of the country and the system.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the 40m vote was a national declaration of loyalty to Imam, the Revolution and the Martyrs, adding that by the large turnout, the Islamic System took a fresh breath and the ill wishers of the system was slapped with the true concept of religious democracy.

Ayatollah Khamenei warned that the enemies of Islam seek to instill doubt into elections and shake the national trust. “They seek to question the legitimacy of the system through erosion of participation. If they manage to gain the goal, the incurred loss is larger than any other losses,” Ayatollah Khamenei cautioned.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the intense electoral campaigns between the four candidates, including the TV debates, were something within the system though the Zionist-ruled media with shear lies tried to present them as fight between opponents and proponents of the system.

Ayatollah Khamenei then noted that difference of opinion was natural, adding however that he considered a certain platform more appropriate for the country though he never made his vote public because the elections belonged to all people and its results would be determined by people.

Ayatollah Khamenei described the presidential TV debates as a significant initiative, saying that the serious and transparent debates foiled the plot of the aliens who claimed the polls were a show.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the debates were positive in that the debating sides had to defend their own platforms in the face of a flood of criticism, adding that the people through the debates and other special TV programs could judge their vote and felt that the Islamic establishment considers them as insiders.

Ayatollah Khamenei then said that one of the factors behind a ten million rise in the regular size of turnouts in the elections was the debates which helped people engage in the election campaigns.

The IR Leader then called for the continuation of the TV debates at levels of country’s managers, adding however that there were also some negative issues in the debates which must be removed in future similar programs.

Regarding the negative issues, Ayatollah Khamenei said that the debates contributed to more political schism and rumours and was lagging in logical issues. “Unfortunately the debates were defamatory at some points so that they relegated to blackening of the services of the current administration or previous administrations and stirred the situation among the supporters of the candidates,” the IR Leader regretted.

Ayatollah Khamenei then pointed to some defamatory statements in the debates about Mr. Hashemi Rafsanjani and Mr. Nategh-Nouri, adding that while no one points an accusatory finger at the two personalities, any other claims about the relatives of the two must not be made public before due legal proceedings are covered.

Ayatollah Khamenei then pointed to his fifty-year-old relationship with Mr. Hashemi and elaborated on his services to the Revolution and the System, adding that Mr. Hashemi has never collected any money out of the Revolution.

Ayatollah Khamenei however noted that he has some natural difference of opinion with Mr. Rafsanjani, adding that the differences also existed between Mr. Rafsanjani and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad since 2005, noting however that Mr. Ahmadinejad’s platform was closer to his.

Ayatollah Khamenei then considered Mr. Nategh-Nouri as a personality who has always been in service of the Revolution.

Ayatollah Khamenei then reaffirmed the serious stance of the system against financial corruption, adding however that the Islamic System despite the claims of some Zionist bodies is among the healthiest establishments in the world.

Ayatollah Khamenei then turned to the June 12 elections and said the enemies try to cast doubt on the elections and turn an absolute victory into a national loss however the highest rate of turnout has already been registered for the Iranian nation and the reality would never change.

Ayatollah Khamenei then ruled out any vote rigging in the elections, saying that it is not in the nature of the Islamic System to betray the vote of people and that the electoral procedures of the Islamic System never allow any major fraud.

Ayatollah Khamenei added however that the Constitutional Guardian Council had been instructed to consider any evidence of fraud provided by the complaining candidates and recount those boxes which are deemed necessary in the presence of their delegates.

Ayatollah Khamenei said legal routes are sole way for the consideration of electoral complaints, adding that he would never accept any illegal precedence because if today the legal framework is breached, no other elections would be trustworthy in future.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the legal procedures for consideration of electoral complaints are fine and complete, adding that all electoral issues should be tackled through legal routes.

Ayatollah Khamenei then addressed politicians and party leaders, saying that the country was experiencing a sensitive juncture and that considering the situation of the world, everyone has a duty to keep vigilance and avoid any mistake.

Ayatollah Khamenei warned that any extremism would stir further extremism, adding if political elites violate the law, they are to blame for any ensuing violence or unrest.

“I recommend all my old friends and brothers to overcome their sentiments and view the hidden hands of enemies and hungry wolves which gradually shed their mask of diplomacy,” the IR Leader urged.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the ballot box is the point where all differences must be settled and that the street is not a point to determine the vote of people.

Ayatollah Khamenei also warned that street protests are an appropriate cover for terrorists, enquiring who may take responsibility if terrorists carry out acts of terror within such meetings.

Ayatollah Khamenei noted that political weighing in the streets actually challenges the very democracy and elections. He then urged all parties involved to end the wrong political method, adding that if they fail to end the street protests, the responsibility of consequences falls on the organizers and parties involved.

Ayatollah Khamenei also noted that street protest never work as a pressure tool on the System and would fail to to make it to give in to their demands as expediency “because caving in to illegal demands under pressure would usher in dictatorship.”

“These calculations and perceptions are wrong and the behind-the-scene commanders are to blame for any consequences. The people will know those commanders when due,” the IR Leader cautioned.

Ayatollah Khamenei then urged the parties involved to take the path of fraternity and understanding and appreciate the 40m vote celebration by not allowing the enemy to ruin the large celebration. He however warned that if some people want to go a way otherwise he will come back and speak to people, this time in a more straightforward manner.

Ayatollah Khamenei then raised a series of stances taken by the authorities of some European countries as well as the United States, saying that in the run-up to the elections, the western authorities and media tried to trigger a voter apathy nevertheless they were shocked by a 40m turnout which made them to realize that a new chapter has opened in the issues related to the Islamic Republic of Iran which must be inevitably accepted by them.

“They then tried to ride the wave of protests following the elections and gradually pushed aside covers from their true face. Some of them showed their enmity with the Islamic System and the British Government proved more wicked than others in this regard,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.

Ayatollah Khamenei then pointed to a statement by some US authorities that they were waiting for such days when people took to streets. “These remarks came out after they sent a message in which they expressed willingness for relations and respect for the Islamic Republic; which one could we believe?”

“Simultaneously foreign elements triggered a line of destruction, arson, pillage of public wealth and unrest; they have no link to people or supporters of candidates rather they are related to ill wishers of the Iranian nation and mercenaries of western and Zionist spy services,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the situation made the enemies to feel greedy so that they thought they could spark a velvet revolution in Iran as they did in some small countries with a few million dollars paid by a Zionist capitalist. “The main problem is that the ignorant enemies have yet to know the Iranian nation,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.

“The ugliest issue was the expression of sympathy by American authorities for human rights and their claim of tightening of situation against Iranian people. How those who committed such and such crimes in Afghanistan and Iraq and support the bully Zionist regime allow themselves to profess to cherish human rights?” Ayatollah Khamenei asked.

Ayatollah Khamenei in the same regard reminded the conduct of the Democrat administration of Clinton in the massacre of more than 80 people of the Davidian sect. “You burned more than 80 women, men and children alive. So how could you understand human rights?” he asked.

Ayatollah Khamenei then noted that the Islamic Republic has hoisted the flag of human rights and defence of the oppressed and that it has no need to take advice from the West in this regard. “Western authorities must take shame and abandon their current policies” towards Iran, he added.

Ayatollah Khamenei concluded the speech by making an address to the Last Shi’i Imam, Hadhrat Mahdi, saying “we have done what needed and said what needed and will do. We would stay the course powerfully. You are the true owner of the Revolution and Country. Please, pray for us.”

Supreme Leader: Anarchy Will Jeopardize Public Interests

June 24, 2009

Ayatollah Khamenei the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution met with the MPs and the Speaker of the Majles today. In this meeting, he said that all the laws should be in line with the principles of the Islamic Revolution and stated that the cultural and educational implications of the laws should be taken into consideration when passing legislation.

He added that the Majles should consider the short-term and long-term needs of society when passing laws and ensure that all legislation is in line with the values and principles of the Revolution.

He stated that taking these two points into account will result in the efficiency of laws.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that the laws which are not in line with the principles of the Revolution lack legitimacy, further adding: “If the laws which are passed are not in line with the needs of the people, they will be legitimate but not acceptable to the people.”

He said that Imam Khomeini’s speeches and testament represent the principles of the Revolution and added that all legislation and policies should be in line with these two sources.

Ayatollah Khamenei advised the MPs to increase their tolerance for accepting criticism and said that all the comments which are made in the Majles should be well-documented, logical, and moral and they must not be based on obstinacy and political muscle-flexing.

He further said that the Majles should cooperate with the administration officials in the management of the country because they shoulder a heavy responsibility in this regard.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that dealing with executive affairs is difficult and stressed: “The Majles should cooperate with the administration in this regard and not make things hard for the administration.”

He further added: “This does not mean disregarding the mistakes of the administration. It means that there should be sincere interaction between the Majles and the administration.”

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution touched on the conflicts in some previous parliamentary terms and added: “People do not like conflicts at all, and conflicts have received totally negative feedback from the people. That is because the people want government officials to cooperate sincerely to solve the country’s problems.”

Ayatollah Khamenei reminded the MPs to consider national interests when passing laws and stated that the MPs must put national interests above the interests of their constituencies.

Elsewhere in his speech, His Eminence stressed the need for respecting the law in the country and reiterated: “Regarding the issues related to the recent presidential election, I have insisted on respecting the law. And the Islamic Republic and the people will by no means give in to pressure.”

The Supreme Leader stressed that dictatorship is the opposite end of respect for the law. “If the laws are not obeyed, the spirit of dictatorship will emerge.”

He said anarchy will jeopardize public interests, further reiterating: “Persistent violation of the law will lead to confusion.”

“Respect for the law, as a cultural norm, must be initiated by elites and passed on to society. Therefore, if elites do not observe the law, the ordinary people cannot be expected to respect the law,” he added.

Ayatollah Khamenei also expressed his appreciation for the stance adopted by the Majles regarding the post-election issues. “When the enemies are looking for an opportunity and a weakness, it is appropriate and very important to announce the general positions of the Islamic Republic unanimously.”

Referring to the post-election protests, Mr. Larijani, the Speaker of the Majles, said that no one must feel above the law. “The recent conflict related to the election will only be ended by the Guardian Council. The Gentlemen who are involved in this conflict must know that the laws are not just for the time of comfort and that law-obedience is for all times,” he said.

Head and the officials of the Judiciary

June 28, 2009

13245_936.jpg

Receiving the head and the officials of the Judiciary, the Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei regarded the establishment of justice as the main duty of this power and its fulfillment, as related to acting according to the Constitution.

Referring to the country’s recent issues, the IR Leader stressed:” Solving issues is possible through legal standards and all elites, activists and political parties from both sides should avoid any agitation of emotions and making flaws in the people’s solidarity.”

In this meeting attended by a number of martyrs’ families of June 28th, 1981 event, the IRI Leader commemorated these exalted martyrs especially the martyr Ayatollah Dr. Beheshti, adding: “The most important characteristic of this event is the martyrdom of a number of prominent figures, senior managers, ministers, MPs and political elites in the way of the high goal of Islamic Revolution and System.

Stressing that the objective behind these assassinations was evacuating the Islamic Revolution from prominent figures and elites, Ayatollah Khamenei said:” Contrary to the enemies’ supposition, the Islamic Revolution was not harmed despite these assassinations, however, its main pillar which is the relation between people and the system, was strengthened.”

Pointing to the prominent role of the martyr Ayatollah Beheshti in the Islamic Revolution, as well as establishing the Islamic judiciary system, he added: “Good works have been done in the judiciary during the past 30 years, especially during the past 10 years in which an excellent and scholar figure like Mr. Shahroudi headed this power, so that his efforts and the senior managers of the judiciary system should be thanked.”

Reminding the main duty of the judiciary system in the establishment of justice, the IR Leader stressed: “The standard of justice is acting according to law and if law is set as a standard for acting in society, justice will be materialized.”

Stressing that the materialization of justice is very difficult and needs different software and hardware infrastructures, Ayatollah Khamenei added: “The establishment of justice in society beside all these infrastructures, needs relying on God and a strong will, and this morale should be expanded in the judiciary.”

“The most important issue is the result and outcome of the work and if the outcome is justice, we will be proud in front of the Almighty God, the people and ourselves,” the IR Leader added.

Referring to the obstacles facing the materialization of justice, the IRI Leader added:” The most difficult part of the establishment of justice is where the opposite side, the powerful and the arrogant have some expectations but we should resist against them and only consider the Almighty God and the Constitution.”

Pointing to recent developments of the country, Ayatollah Khamenei termed legal procedures as solution to the recent affairs and the said that the senses of the youth should not be instigated because the Iranian nation with different tastes is a united nation which enjoys a good relation with its system.

Ayatollah Khamenei added that high turnout of people in the ballot stations showed their confidence in the Islamic system.

The IR Leader noted that lawlessness is worse than running law and said that by relying on God’s blessings, the Iranian nation is faithful, vigilant and ready to be present at the scene and it has no problem with the system but they are political elites who should be cautious about their words and deeds.

Ayatollah Khamenei advised the two sides’ political activists to avoid instigating the other side and said that if political elites get united the plots and interferences of international cruel politicians will be in vain.

Referring to meddling policies of the American and European officials over IRI’S affairs, the IRI Leader said these people, by uttering idiotic words assume that all their problems have been solved and it is only the issue of Iran that remains unresolved. They ignore the fact that wherever they step politically the Iranian nation considers the spot as spoiled.

“Such illogical comments will backfire because the Iranian nation, during the eight years of Sacred Defence (Iraq-imposed war), while experiencing heavy bombardments and chemical weapons attack noticed that these governments showed no mercy but supported the enemy of the Iranian nation,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.

Pointing to merciless crimes and atrocities of the Americans as well as some European states in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan and Palestine, the IR Leader said these governments are not friends of nations and now that they express their support for the Iranian nation or certain individuals in the country, the people know that they are pursuing a sinister goal by doing this.

“If the Iranian nation remains united and maintains its resistance which was granted to them by the Islamic Revolution, the enemies will not be able to harm them,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.

Friends should not be mistaken for foes: Leader

TEHRAN, July 7 (MNA) -- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has advised the nation not to mistake friends for foes.

“The Islamic system will seriously deal with those who disturb the peace and the life of the people and threaten the youth. However, we should not mistake foes for friends and consider friends as foes only because of a mistake (they have made),” he said on Monday.

Currently, the most important needs of Islam and the country are “unity and vigilance in the face of the enemies’ plots” and any plot can be foiled by vigilance, the Leader asserted.

“Today, the Islamic world needs unity more than ever and if the Muslims maintain their unity, the enemies will not be able to take advantage of them for their own objectives,” he emphasized.

Ayatollah Khamenei also warned the enemies, and especially certain Western countries, not to interfere in Iran’s internal affairs.

“These countries should mind their language and (cease) their hostile acts because (otherwise) the Iranian nation will respond.”

He added, “If the officials of the Islamic Republic have differences among themselves, they are unanimous on resistance against the enemy and safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty. The enemy should know that they cannot create rifts among the Iranian nation.”

The Supreme Leader also said that the interfering remarks of these governments will surely affect their relations with Iran.

Look at human body parts!

The heart,

The hands,

The foot,

The fingers,

The skin,

The lungs,

The kidney,

The stomach,

The pancreas,

The spinal cord,

The eyes,

The ear,

The hair,

The bones,

Etc

And look at systems of human body!

Circulation of blood,

Pumping of blood,

Respiration,

Digestion,

Immunity,

Oxygenation,

Excretory,

Nervous,

Etc

But, above all is Brain,

Why???

So, your body works according to Gods fixed laws, or,

Your body works through man-made-laws ???

What is brain???

A dictatorship??? Or,

A western democracy???

If, you put brain from human aside, the whole body will immediately collapse within second,

What is this???

With thousands of parts and thousands of systems working inside human body with all health and freshness will collapse if brain is out,

What is this???

Why Brain has such status in body ???

Why???

Why body parts do not protest for equal rights ???

Do you know any bodyany creation that does not have one and only supreme organ ???

I am not saying that you can not transplant brain or heart,

Yes, you can,

Even you can fix an artificial brain, but brain will remain brain with same status,

You cant change the status,

Can you???

So, why brain is supreme???

Wasnt it possible that all body parts worked independently with equal rights and status???

Of course, it was possible for God,

Then, why God has devised such a system in which brain is the final authority???

is it even thinkable that a healthy brain will work against its own body???

Is it even imaginable that a healthy brain will ever cheat own body???

Is it even considerable that a healthy brain will steal own resources???

Why brain is so honest with the body??? Or,

Why honesty of the brain has been kept on top???

Can you run your own body with man-made-laws ???

Can you even devise a system that could run your body entirely different from the current system???

Can you even prepare a system for mosquitoes???

When, body obeys brain, is it shirk or kufr ???

We believe that the vilayat-e-faqih is the brain in human society,

Human society needs a brain to survive and progress organizedly and unitedly with one pulse,

We believe that the system vilayat-e-faqih is natural,

We believe that the system vilayat-e-faqih is religious,

We believe that the system vilayat-e-faqih is crucial,

We believe that the system vilayat-e-faqih is in line with democracy,

A democracy with brain,

A democracy with direction,

A democracy with goals and achievements,

A democracy with constant continuation,

A democracy with natural laws,

Thats why we believe in khamenei,

Thats why we trust in khamenei,

Thats why we obey khamenei,

Thats why we support khamenei,

Thats why we see khamenei as our leader,

Khamenei is our brain,

Khamenei is our tradition,

Khamenei is our culture,

Khamenei is our blood,

Khamenei is our heart-beat,

khamenei is our survival,

vilayat-e-faqih is our past, present and future,

a bright future,

and

we believe in our bright future,

we have faith in our bright future,

because, we are alive nation.

If, you do not work in a direction,

Your all work, progress and literature with all health and freshness lack the center place in the world,

No matter how your body parts are strong and healthy, but you need a brain,

That guides you,

That gives you identity,

That connects you to all parts of the body,

This is brain that makes you one body and gives you a name,

This is brain that safeguards you when your body parts are asleep,

This is brain that makes you an inspiration for others,

No matter how beautiful your muscles are,

But if there is no brain, there is no respect,

Brain is your intellect,

Brain is your literature,

Brain is your shahnameh of the time,

Brain is your boali sina of the time,

Brain is your bairuni of the time,

Proof?

What was the status of arabs in the world???

Just nothing,

When prophet became the brain of arabs,

Arabs got the center place in the world,

Arabs had the talent before,

But there talent was unidentified,

Until it got a brain,

All 11 Imams after prophet worked as a brain of the muslim nation,

No one ever challenged their authority or their status,

All kings, shahs and yazeeds did all harms to Imams,

But never succeeded to steal the status of Imams,

Imams remained the brain of the nation,

Whoever accepted brain’s authority became boali sina,

Those who denied the status of brain remained at the status of yazeed,

We need a brain because we are human beings,

We need vilayat-e-faqih because we are a society,

Go and check the systems all over the world,

There is always a central authority,

If, there is a parliament, there is a speaker; every parliamentarian has to follow his rulings,

If, there is a country, there is an executive,

If, there is an organization, there is a head of organization,

Every machine has one basic button,

Every machine has one on/off button,

We have relatives,

We have blood relatives,

Why there is no democracy in the relations???

Why no one raises questions of equal rights here???

I support my mother but I do not support any one’s mother the way I support my mother,

I support my father but I do not support any one’s father the way I support my father,

Where is equal rights ??? where is western democracy ??? the same western democracy that keeps parents in ‘old houses’

Here comes religion,

This is only religions that guide us and say us:

“No,…all mothers are like your mother…respect them…assist them…support them”

“No,…problems of others are your problems…feel them…solve them”

Religions bind us in one chain,

The chain of respect,

The chain of brotherhood,

The chain of sharing,

The chain of understanding,

How can we understand each other if we don’t have a command,

How can we respond to each other if we don’t have a command,

How can we connect ourselves with each other if we don’t have a command,

The body that has no brain can not respond…has no command,

This command is our religion,

This command is our brain,

This command is our vilayat-e-faqih,

And, this command is Khamenei.

Prophet called muslims a body,

Then, this body needs a brain,

Who is brain???

You?

Me?

Every one???

If, every one is brain then why prophet called muslims a body????

Have you seen a human body with lot of brains every where from foot to head ???

If, muslims are a body, then they need a brain,

Without brain a muslim body is incomplete according to laws of God and nature,

So, where is brain???

Quran???

Sunnah???

No! We can not understand quran and sunnah without brain,

So, brain is another thing and quran and sunnah are another things,

We need brain to understand quran and sunnah,

So, if, muslims are one/single body, then it needs a brain,

Where is brain???

Brain is continuous Imamat,

And until twelfth Imam does not appear,

Valih-e-Faqih is the brain,

If, we want to experience a vibrant alive muslim body,

We need valih-e-faqih,

This is a natural conclusion,

If, we follow nature, nature supports us,

If, we reject nature, time ignores us,

We can’t walk around in different directions with millions of brains,

This is just unnatural,

We can only attain a direction towards progress with strong identity,

if we have a brain,

if, we need direction towards progress, we need a vilayat-e-faqih.

What is one body???

Ganji says: “come on, here is salvation”

Shirin ebadi says: “come on…come on…here is salvation”

Shah’s son says: “come on…come on…come on…here is salvation”

Etc…

How can we follow them all while keeping our unity in tact???

How can we keep our unity in tact while dispersing in different directions ???

How can we keep our identity in tact???

While ganji says: “all are fraud, I am right”

While shirin says: “all are liars, I am the only true”

While shah’s son says: “all are people, I am the king”

How can we find a direction with so many paths ???

How can we define our way with so many guides ???

How can we solve our problems with so many solution providers???

If, we devise a system in which every one is the solution maker,

Then, is this a way of unity or disunity???

Then, is this the way of integration or disintegration???

Think about it,

I am not saying that that all solution providers are faulty,

Some of them may be correct on some point,

But, if we open up a system in which every one is solution provider,

Then, how can we develop a national team, a national unity, nation’s direction ???

If, we accept one flag, then we need one solution provider,

And this solution provider is ‘vilayat-e-faqih’

You know?

In this world, hundreds of systems were devised to manage human societies during last thousands of years. So many systems.

Systems came, ran for a while and then failed,

In history we see that they several times ousted the religions from the body of management of human society,

They killed and massacred religions and threw them on the garbage,

Yet, we see in history that any system…any system that had support of religions ran for longer time than those systems that lacked religions,

Today, western democracy with out religions are encountering a lot of problems that they can never solve and ultimately will collapse with the system,

Why is this???

Why religions have such acceptance ???

Why religions have an effect on human psychology ???

With all bloodsheds and massacres, they could not eliminate religions from the surface of earth and from hearts and minds of people, why???

Why???

You should accept that religions are the only friends of the people of the world,

People love religions,

People respect religions,

People can never abandon religions,

You should keep this in your mind and you should accept it,

Religionless world is a dream of evil,

There is no doubt about it,

So, if religions are so important for us,

Then why not we accept it once and for all and forever???

Why confusion???

Why hesitation???

Why ???

We are thirsty,

We need pure water,

Where is confusion???

We are alive,

We smile,

We cry,

Where is confusion???

So why here???

Why here in case of religion???

Islamic Revolution Leader urges for brotherly cooperation

July 25, 2009

13358_132.jpg

Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei in a meeting with participants in the 26th round of international Quranic contests said following Quran would lead to glory, dignity and unity of the Islamic Ummah, adding that recent days’ political developments should not turn into an issue of discord and all should cooperate for the progress of the country.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the Quranic meetings would help Muslims to have a close connection with Quran. He advised people to have connection with Quran not only through ear and eye but also through heart.

“Quran is intended to be followed and deliberated and as much as we follow it, we will see its effects,” IR Leader said.

Pointing to Divine promises for the faithful, Ayatollah Khamenei said if we follow the Quran instructions, the divine promises would be achieved adding that today the Islamic world is thirsty for Quran’s teachings.

The IR Leader referred to enemies’ efforts to endanger Islamic unity and said “the enemies of Islam cheatingly claim that they are not against Quran however we see they oppose Quran’s teachings.”

Ayatollah Khamenei lauded the existing unity among the Iranian nation and said unity is to move towards principles while it is possible to have some differences in secondary issues which could never block unity.

Ayatollah Khamenei recommended the political circles in the country to be careful in their remarks and avoid making rifts, adding that total dismissal of others over second issues of minor importance is not in the interests of the country and that all political figures must join hands in developing the country.

Ayatollah Khamenei raised the recent days’ developments in the political arena in Iran and said that the issue should not lead to more disagreements, adding the positive traits of one personality should not be totally denounced for a single mistake he has committed.

Ayatollah Khamenei invited all political figures to be fair in their words and deeds and touched on a God’s order in Quran on being fair even towards enemies. He urged all political personalities to keep adherence to principles while keeping their different tastes.

Ayatollah Khamenei said difference of tastes is natural and usual, adding however that if political taste is mixed with worldly desires it would prove destructive.

Ayatollah Khamenei said God will bless everyone who is committed to his duties.

Ayatollah Khamenei at the end of his remarks said that the favour of God has always been with the Iranian nation.

IR Leader endorses vote to president-elect Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

August 3, 2009

13412_804.jpg

On the eve of the auspicious birth anniversary of the saviour of mankind, Wali-Allah al-A’dam, may God hasten his reappearance Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei praised the large turnout of the Iranian nation in the epic of the June 12 elections and endorsed the vote to president-elect Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

In his endorsement decree, Ayatollah Khamenei described the vote as a vote to the blessed and dignified discourse of Islamic Revolution and a vote to combat against poverty, corruption and discrimination.

The text of the decree read out by his office representative Hujjat al-Islam Mohammadi Golpaygani is as follows.

In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate

Thank God Who once more made Iran honoured and helped our smart people to create one more endurable epic. June 12, 2009 became a golden page in the book of Iran’s destiny line by line of which written by the grand will and firm resolve of our people and safeguarded by their vigilance and perseverance.

The 85 percent turnout in the latest ballot is a clear proof to a feeling of attachment and zeal that this historical and honoured nation keeps for its 3-decade-old legacy as well as a hope it keeps for the grandeur of the legacy and its improvement.

These are due to the blessing and favour of the all-knowing and all-powerful God Whom must be cherished by this meagre servant as well as all remembering and modest hearts and to Whom we must rub our forehead of gratitude.

The decisive and unprecedented vote of the people to the respected president-elect is a vote to the traits which helped adorn the four-year record of the ninth government, standing as a proof to the direction of majority of the nation.

This vote is a vote to the blessed and dignified discourse of Islamic Revolution; a vote to anti-arrogance combat and a vote to brave perseverance against the international domineering powers; a vote to combat against poverty, corruption and discrimination and a vote to fight against aristocracy; a vote to modest lifestyle, closeness to people and sympathy with the poor and the underprivileged; and finally a vote to untiring work and efforts.

These are the significant parts of the claims of the Iranian nation from its elected people. The nation pins hope in those who have the same inclination and brings them to office using the privilege of freedom gifted to them by the Islamic Revolution.

On the eve of the auspicious birth anniversary pf the saviour of mankind, Wali-Allah al-A’dham, may God hasten his reappearance, I mark this Eid and congratulate Dr. Ahmadinejad on his re-election in the tenth presidential elections and follow the great Iranian nation in endorsing the vote to the brave, hard-working and prudent man.

I pray God to bestow him and his colleagues the opportunity to serve people, strive for the grandeur of the word of Islam, produce great and endurable moves which the dear nation and country deserves, and push for progress and justice.

Indeed, the vote of people and my endorsement will last until the time he keeps this sound track.

In the end, I commemorate the name and memory of the honoured Imam and the lofty martyrs to whom the nation owes its great accomplishments. I ask God to promote their immaculate souls and their heavenly ranks.

And peace be upon the devout servants of Allah

Sayyed Ali Khamenei

Ayatollah Khamenei then made a speech, calling religious democracy a unique and thought-provoking phenomenon which can cater to the current needs of the human community.

Ayatollah Khamenei reminded the non-presence of people in political fields during the Pahlavi regime and the ironical cooperation of the so-called advocates of human rights with the regime, adding that under the auspicious of the nation’s revolution and submission to the divine statute, a single reality was formed called Islamic Republic.

Ayatollah Khamenei called the discussion on which of republic or Islamic must be prioritized as a meaningless topic, adding that the two are two inseparable elements as reliance on public vote lies in the heart of divine statute.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the ups and downs of the past thirty years have proved the efficiency of the Islamic Republic, adding that the electoral process during the past decades signifies a large capacity which most observers outside the association have been unable to understand.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the religious democracy and the intrinsic composition of Islam and republicanism in the association was the key to its endurance and invulnerability, adding that by the favor of God and vigilance of people and authorities, the securing reality will survive.

Ayatollah Khamenei then pointed to some significant lessons of the blessed elections, saying that in the first step, the elections proved how robust the Islamic Republic is in attracting public trust and mobilizing the masses.

Some waited for the system in the early post-revolutionary years to fall from the public attention however the recent elections which broke international electoral records showed that the Islamic System after 30 years even has become more powerful and successful in attracting public trust.

The IR Leader said the second lesson of the elections was the existence of a mutual trust between the system and the public, adding that the open political field for different affiliations shows the trust of the system in itself and the nation.

“The people for their part trusted the system and proved their interest in their elected system. The reality shows that those who speak of a public mistrust are ignorant, unless ill-wisher,” the IR Leader said.

Ayatollah Khamenei noted that the trust of people was the capital of the system and seriously urged all authorities to progressively promote the trust by their word and deed.

Ayatollah Khamenei as a third lesson of the elections pointed to an existence of hope and vivacity in people.

“A hopeless heart never takes the field of elections. The vivacious presence of the youths and other strata shows a social hope in the prospects,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.

Ayatollah Khamenei then cautioned the people and the authorities to take heed of the warning that the enemy is always lurking and any negligence about its blows proves dangerous even amid best conditions in society.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the claim that enemy tries to produce nerve-wracking issues for people was based on genuine information at hand, adding that if people in society look at each other as enemies and fail to keep thought and prudence, they will suffer blows from real enemies.

The IR Leader then urged the enemies to pick experiences from the recent developments, urging them to realize what a people and system they face and to abandon the thought they could bring the nation to knee through lowly decision.

Ayatollah Khamenei warned the enemies to quit the perceptions that they could deal a blow to the Islamic System through a faulty, cartoon-like imitation of the auspicious 1979 revolution as the system is more deep-rooted than suffering a blow due to such moves.

Ayatollah Khamenei added that by a faulty imitation of Imam Khomeini, the Great, who was imbued with Quranic teachings, no one could deceive people because the nation has its heart illuminated with the light of faith.

Ayatollah Khamenei then said the great Iranian nation has passed the divine test of elections, adding that many of the youths and elites out of responsibility and faith took to the ballot and then bowed to the Constitution during the ensuing electoral process. “They passed the great test.”

Ayatollah Khamenei said however that some of the elites failed the test and that some of the youths who had sincerely entered the field, went wrong at some points.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the president-elect was in a test regarding the great blessing of public presence and that the test could be passed by practically cherishing the presence.

“The respected president who has been elected with a high and rare percent of votes as well as his colleagues in the next cabinet are expected to cherish Islam and faith of nation and employ all their efforts to serve the people and the revolutionary goals,” he added.

Ayatollah Khamenei then instructed the next administration to strictly follow the Constitution and deal with national affairs based on due planning.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the president and the tenth administration were owned by all those who cast ballots in the June 12 elections, adding that the reality must be heeded in every planning for the country.

The IR Leader said parallel to the large group of advocates of the president, there are also two other groups who must be taken into account; one the angry and wounded opponents who will continue to oppose the administration in the next four years and the other the critics who have no enmity towards the system and the president and must be consulted in all affairs.

Ayatollah Khamenei then said that supports must be delivered to those who have incurred damages to their reputation or financial affairs or otherwise have lost a beloved, adding that anyone behind the damages and losses must be identified and taken to task.

Ayatollah Khamenei concluded his remarks by pointing to ample natural, material and human resources within the dear Iran, saying that there are many problems which must be resolved with continuous efforts of the president and his colleagues as well as the help of elites with different tastes, even the critics of the administration.

Leader of Islamic Revolution: ME conditions in favour of resistance force

August 19, 2009

13597_159.jpg

Leader of Islamic Revolution said Wednesday evening in a meeting with visiting Syrian President Bashar al-Asad that unity between Iran and Syria was manifestation of regional resistance.

Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei added in his meeting with President Bashar al-Asad and his accompanying delegation that the current conditions in the Middle East are in favour of the resistance force and to the loss of the United States and its allies.

He emphasized that the resistance front should take advantage of this great opportunity and strengthen the foundations of internal cooperation more than ever before.

Ayatollah Khamenei stressed the existence of unity between Tehran and Damascus, adding, “The fruit of this unity and its effects on developments in Palestine, Lebanon and Iraq, as well as the entire region, are quite evident.”

The IR Leader said the oppressor governments have concentrated on breaking the bonds of unity among the members of the resistance front in the region and decreasing the level of relations among the comprising countries of that front.

“Such efforts would never bear any fruit and the US sword in the region would increasingly get blunt,” he added.

Ayatollah Khamenei considered the new US approach in the region as the result of the country’s weak status, adding, “This (new) approach is not due to any essential difference between the current US president and the previous ones, since anyone else in his (President Barack Obama’s) position, too, could not have adopted a different policy in the region.”

The IR Leader stressed that the ground for cooperation between Iran and Syria is quite broad and emphasized that the broad potentials for further expansion of such ties need to be fully taken advantage of

“Syria’s most prominent characteristic is its resolute resistance and it is exactly due to the same point that the United States and the other oppressor powers remain enemies of Syria.”

Ayatollah Khamenei commemorates the name and memories of the late Syrian president Hafedh al-Asad, adding, “Syria’s prominent status in the region is the result of that late leader’s efforts and Mr. Bashar al-Asad, too, is pursuing the same path quite well today.”

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution approved of the Syrian president’s proposal for the establishment of a quadrilateral union among Iran, Syria, Turkey and Iraq, adding, “Syria’s current relations with Iraq are quite positive and that country’s government is in need of assistance for resolving the ongoing problems there.”

In the meeting in which President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was also present, President al-Asad, for his part, emphasized that Tehran–Damascus relations are of a strategic nature

“The general conditions of the region are now in favour of the resistance movement,” he said.

“The western governments, particularly the United States, have lots of problems inside their own countries, as well as the problems with which they are entangled in the region, where they have gained no tangible result so far, even in Lebanon,” he added.

al-Asad aid that under such conditions cooperation among Iran, Syria, Iraq and Turkey, and particularly the establishment of a union among these four countries would be to the benefit of the entire region.”

Referring to the Iraqi Prime Minister’s recent visit to Damascus, the Syrian President announced his country’s readiness for assisting Iraq, adding, “The aliens as well as some regional countries, are after sowing the seeds of discord between Shia and Sunni Muslims in Iraq, and it is necessary to assist the Iraqi government to dismantle that plot.”

Bashar al-Asad moreover said that the landslide victory of President Ahmadinejad in recent election and his re-election further strengthened the resistance movement in the region.

“The defeat of the efforts made by some western countries to interfere in Iran’s affairs after your presidential election was a good lesson for them and with the people’s vote in favour of Mr. Ahmadinejad they (the western countries) realized that the Iranian nation is still favouring the late Imam’s path and the path of resistance,” he noted.

Quran advises to show leniency to fellow Muslims

With the Muslim holiest month of Ramadhan just in, top reciters and memorizers of the Holy Quran recited verses of holy Quran in Imam Khomayni religious site with Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei in attendance.

Referring to the Quran’s teachings which invited Muslims to unity and attachment to the rope of God, the Islamic Revolution Leader said those who have deeply understood the Quranic call for unity and sticking to the divine string do not allow the cause of national unity fall victim to their individual objectives or interests.

The IR Leader said based on the Quranic teachings Muslims are advised to strongly stand up to the enemies while showing leniency toward fellow Muslims.

Ayatollah Khamenei described Quran verses as life-giving such as water adding Quran’s effects are gradual and we always need Quran.

Getting familiar with Quran we would be able to open new doors and knots, the IR Leader added.

The evening prayers were led by the Islamic Revolution Leader at the end of the Quran reciting session.

Students urged to counter enemy soft war

August 26, 2009

13665_911.jpg

Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei said Wednesday in a meeting with university students and elites that regarding the post-election events, the Judiciary system should judge based on strong reasons and not rumours.

Ayatollah Khamenei said some crimes and violations have been committed following the recent presidential elections in Iran which will certainly be prosecuted.

Ayatollah Khamenei added however that some people ignored the big tyrannies against the people and Islamic system and measures which damaged the reputation of the system in front of all nations by highlighting the Kahrizak and Kouye Daneshgah (Tehran University dormitory) as major issues. “This is a clear tyranny per se,” the IR Leader said.

“The Islamic system through numerous accomplishments in recent years, enjoyed reputation and stood in an excellent position in the world and region. Moreover, the 85-percent participation of people in the recent elections strengthened the position however suddenly a designed move took place to destroy the honourable event,” the Leader deplored.

“I don’t accuse vanguards of the recent developments of being puppets of foreigners such as America or Britain, because it has not been proved for me, but there is no doubt that the event was a designed move,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.

“The main plotters were not sure that their plans would work but measures of some people made them hopeful so they used all their media and electronic capabilities and intensified the presence of their own agents in the scene,” the IR Leader added.

The plot failed, Ayatollah Khamenei’s aid, adding the enemies could not understand Iran’s issues and do not know the Iranian nation so they were slapped on the face by the nation however they are still hopeful and have not given up.

Stressing the necessity for awareness of the people, university students in particular, who are interested in Islam, Iran and their own future, the IR Leader said designers of the recent plot in Iran have puppeteers and will also find other puppeteers but all of their measures are doomed to fail.

“Awareness of all people especially the students would decrease the harmfulness of the conspiracies,” the IR Leader added.

The Islamic Revolution Leader then said the ruling government and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad have some weak points as well as some positive points “but I support only the positive ones.”

“Everyone who has such a trend, activity and seriousness will receive my support too,” the IR Leader added.

“Highlighting of the weak points will lead to blackening of the situation and creating disappointment. Moreover adopting a clear stance against weak points in many cases would not help to settle problems,” Ayatollah Khamenei said, adding, “Based on logic we should adopt a clear stance against weak points only when there is no other choice.”

Referring to the great soft war the enemies have waged against the Iranian nation and the Islamic system, the Leader called on elites including university students to be vigilant and act according to thought.

“Dear students are young officers of Iran and the Islamic Republic in confronting with the enemies’ soft war as well as the satanic trend which has been shaped based on power, deception and wealth,” Ayatollah Khamenei reiterated.

Regarding the main reason behind enmity of hegemonic powers with the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Leader said the Muslim Ummah enjoys a strategic status in strategic points of the world adding the Islamic Republic of Iran with its growing power has stood up to hegemonic powers at one of the very strategic points of the world.

“It is natural that the great Zionist network, world companies and financial centres which lead policies of America and Europe consider the great power of Iranian nation and the Islamic Republic as enemy source and try to confront it.

“The enemies’ plots will end only when Iran, by efforts of its youth could reach such a scientific, economic and security status that nobody could harm it,” the IR Leader said adding “this is why I have always called on universities to launch a scientific movement, because I know scientific superiority is one of the country’s security bases in long term.”

Warning students and academics over the enemies’ plots to create disorder in universities, the IR Leader called on all academics to be aware that such unimportant political issues do not harm universities and research centres. Ayatollah Khamenei urged the audience to try to nullify enemy’s plot in creating disorder in universities and closing them even for a short time.

‘University professors, commanders of soft confrontation’

August 30, 2009

13745_375.jpg

Leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei in a meeting with a group of academics, university professors and scientific elites in Tehran on Sunday stressed the important role of university professors in scientific development of the country.

The IR Leader added scientific development would be one of the major pillars of development and implementation of justice in the next decade in the country.

Ayatollah Khamenei stated that holding yearly meetings with academics and scientific elites is a symbolic move to show the Islamic Republic of Iran’s special attention to science and scientists.

Stressing the necessity for paying more attention to research, the IR Leader said the researches should be held in line of the country’s needs, adding reflecting the researches in the international communities is a necessary but the publication of them in the world communities should not be a criterion for the country’s scientific development.

Given to a comprehensive scientific map of the country, Ayatollah Khamenei expressed his dissatisfaction over unfinished efforts to this end.

Ayatollah Khamenei stressed the necessity for quick presentation of the map, adding the current plans in different scientific fields is not in agreement with the country’s needs and the problem could be solved by the map.

Criticizing the growing number of students in the course of human sciences in the country, the IR Leader said the capacity of scientific centres and universities in the field as well as the number of faithful professors teaching the field is not as much as the number of students.

The Leader said most human fields are based on philosophies that believe in materialism and they lack of belief to Islamic and divine teachings, warning that teaching them would lead to promotion of unbelief to the divine teachings and promotion of scepticism to the religious principles.

Ayatollah Khamenei stressed that the government, Majles and Supreme Cultural Revolution Council should pay serious attention to the issue.

The IR Leader advised that the existing organizations should be strengthened instead of increasing establishments in some parts relating to scientific fields.

The IR Leader also called for using learned, revolutionary, brave and ingenious people in the Science Ministry and other scientific centres.

Ayatollah Khamenei also put emphasis on the necessity for further relations of the Science Ministry and the Supreme Cultural Revolution Council with the scientific elites and using their views.

Ayatollah Khamenei added supporting the academics has always been one of the policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran and it is expected that the academics should feel responsibility for the university students, scientific future of the country and improving the education system and strengthen their presence in the university.

Ayatollah Khamenei urged for promotion of spirituality in universities and said if we trained faithful students at universities, they would hit by less damages.

Islamic Revolution Leader highlighted high capabilities of the country which helped it ‘overcome’ the post-election problems.

“The recent post-election issues have placed the country in front of a determining political test. However, the system of the Islamic Republic given its high capabilities was able to overcome the situation,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.

The IR Leader said that IRI enjoys ‘different kinds of freedom’ within the Islamic framework.

“Freedom in the Islamic system is a true issue defined within an Islamic framework and the Islamic Republic will never consent to or accept the false freedom sought by the West,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.

The IR Leader touched upon the responsibilities of different walks of the country in confronting incidents including post-vote events, saying, “What is expected of university professors in this struggle is far greater than that of students.”

“Students are the young officers fighting on this front who with their thoughts, actions and perceptions are present in the scene and who test the scene and act within its framework but university professors are the commanders of this soft confrontation.”

Ayatollah Khamenei urged the commanders of this front to obtain a good understanding of the current situation and to identify the enemy, its objectives and plans.

“A professor who can play this role is a worthy teacher for the present and future of the Islamic Republic,” the IR Leader said.

Ayatollah Khamenei described raising students’ abilities to analyze, and creating an atmosphere of hope and scientific work in universities as being the most important responsibilities of university professors.

“We must move in the exact opposite direction of the enemy’s objectives, as it seeks to create the atmosphere of desperation in universities,” the IR Leader said.

The IR Leader also highlighted the importance of preparing the grounds for students to express their views in different fields.

Ayatollah Khamenei pointed to the damage inflicted on people in the post-vote incidents and said, “All those who have been the victims of the post-election events must know that the Islamic system has no intention of making concessions.”

“Just as those individuals who openly confront the system are legally and justly dealt with, legal and just punishment will also be mete out to the perpetrators of crimes and atrocities.”

September 5, 2009

13810_383.jpg

A group of poets, cultural elites, and scholars met the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, Saturday.

Ayatollah Khamenei approved recent poetic developments and said, “Everything (in today’s poetry); its diction, meaning, rhythm, choice of words, and imagery are signs of a fruitful movement in the poetry of our country.”

The leader of Islamic Revolution referred to post-revolution (1979) poetry as a continuous movement towards new heights in poetry and said, “The poetry of revolution has successfully passed the exams and should continue this way till it achieves all the goals of the revolution.”

“The goals of our revolution are like bright stars, high in the sky. They show us where to fly,” Ayatollah Khamenei added.

“This poetry should serve the goals of the revolution. Justice; morality; independence, particularly cultural independence, and revivification of our Iranian-Islamic identity are some of these goals,” the IR Leader said.

Ayatollah Khamenei also touched on the incidents before and after the presidential elections in June and said these incidents were a blessing and like a war game revealed our weaknesses.

“The burden of retelling the truth about these incidents lies on the shoulders of men of letters and artists. It is their duty to distinguish friend from foe,” the IR Leader urged.

Ayatollah Khamenei added that wisdom is a necessity in understanding the situation. “Men of letters form only a portion of Islamic Revolution’s movement. They ought to talk or write their take of the truth in a way that is intelligible to everyone and avoid political vagueness.”

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution referred to soft warfare as a reality and pointing to his previous warnings about the issue, he said, “When one sees the formation of clenching teeth against the Late Imam Khomeini, the Revolution and its cause he will definitely believe in the soft warfare.

“It is the duty of the cultural association to appropriately employ art against the soft warfare,” the IR Leader urged.

Ayatollah Khamenei advised the poets to read classical Persian poetry and internalize them so as to use them as a touchstone in evaluating and elevating their poetry.

Tenth presidential vote turned a new page

September 7, 2009

13908_419.jpg

Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei in a meeting with the tenth cabinet, urged them to adopt their predecessors’ approach to issues such as social justice, fight against corruption, humble life styles, sustained effort to solve people’s problems, and noting the deprived areas of the country.

Ayatollah Khamenei also termed the Iran-in-1400 Document as the yard stick for all government activities. Ayatollah Khamenei asked for deliberate and thoughtful implementation of the document in complete accordance with law, while consulting elites, scholars, and religious leaders.

The IR Leader lauded the establishment of the tenth government, saying that 85% enthusiastic and unforgettable presence of the people at Khordad 22nd election polls was proof for free will and responsibility of the nation in choosing their country’s officials.

“Everyone should thank the Almighty God for this blessing towards the system and the revolution,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.

Ayatollah Khamenei pointed out the necessity of true comprehension of the real message of the 40-m presence of the people and electing a president with the new high record of 25 million votes. “If the country’s officials and political experts and elites realize these messages many of the conflicts and problems would be solved,” the IR Leader noted.

Ayatollah Khamenei considered the 85% presence of the people at the election as heavy hammer of republicanism over the head of the enemies of the revolution. “The nation and the Islamic Revolution proved their republican movement with a loud shout,” he said.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that another result of the Khordad 22nd election was the strengthening of the Islamic aspect of the system.

“The comments made by the presidential election candidates on their faithfulness to Islam, the revolution and Imam Khomeini’s line, too, proved that this nation is inclined towards this side and that was why the esteemed candidates tried to show their love for Imam and the revolution,” he noted.

“The tenth Presidential Elections turned a new page in the life of the revolution and the system. Of course the reaction of some individuals towards this huge move of the nation was neither noble, nor gallant, and not even ethical, but what was important for the country and our history and will last is the divine blessing of the people’s great movement and the blessed progress of the Islamic Revolution,” the IR Leader added.

Ayatollah Khamenei encouraged people, and particularly the president to praise God for this divine blessing and to fully refrain from getting haughty, emphasizing, “We need to be proud of the people’s vote and to rely on it, but to do so quite humbly, and to refrain from any type of haughtiness, because haughtiness is one of Satan’s traps and is among the various paths leading towards deviation and degradation.”

Ayatollah Khamenei then appreciated the efforts made by every member of the hard working ninth government and welcomed the entry of the tenth government to the scene of serving the people.

“Under the current situation a huge amount of high quality work need to be done that by favour of God the tireless and energetic president moves in the same direction,” he urged.

The leader of the Islamic Revolution then provided the statesmen with ten advices, including, having strong faith in God and strengthening spirits, which he said are the most important factors that can assist them conquer the entire problems and difficulties.

Ayatollah Khamenei advised the tenth government to be ready for encountering all kinds of ill wishing and conspiracies, adding, “Lots of efforts would be made against this government and this system, but the capabilities, hopes and opportunities of the government and the nation are greater than the entire plots and problems ahead.”

The leader of the Islamic Revolution asked for the continuation of the former government’s efforts on the establishment of justice, campaign against corruption, supporting the weak social classes, observing a modest life style, paying due attention to the deprived parts of the country and spending a never ending effort aimed at solving the people’s problems.

“Continuing such efforts would please both God and the nation,” he noted.

Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the need for presenting a precise definition for justice, reiterating, “Justice must be observed in every deed and behaviour, and even in making judgements and adopting stands.”

In justice seeking efforts he advised observing wisdom and spirituality as necessities, adding, “Some extremist moves of some groups in the past have led to their 180 degree change of stands, because justice seeking was not accompanied relying on rationalism.”

The IR Leader’s third suggestion to the tenth government was paying full attention to implementation of the 20 Year Perspective Document.

“The significance of the Vision Document is in a way next to the Constitution, the country’s most important document, and therefore, the government’s entire efforts and orientations need to be evaluated with the index of the Perspective Document,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.

He noted that with four years past the implementation of the Vision Document “We should be proceeding towards the bright future predicted in this important document and the tenth government should while settling the pace of implementing the projects, try to gain its own share of materializing this document.”

Full implementation of the policies of Article 44 was the other suggestion of the IR Leader to the president and his new cabinet.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that the work done in that respect thus far has been insufficient, adding, “We need not wait for major reforms in infrastructure apparatus and the ratification of the Economic Overhaul Plan.”

Ayatollah Khamenei asked the tenth government members to refrain from hastiness in devising economic projects and to take appropriate advantage of experts’ viewpoints.

The IR Leader also advised the president and his cabinet to pay full attention to proper choice of goals in cultural fields.

“The officials are obliged to take care of the people side by side and guide them, and therefore, the potentials and possibilities of the state organs such as the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), the Education Ministry, and the Higher Education system should be utilized in a way to increase the people’s love for religion,” the IR Leader urged.

Rejecting any meaningless and extremist approaches in cultural field, Ayatollah Khamenei added, “We need to propagate the issues that have proper religious and jurisprudence bases and to propagate and promote them proudly.”

Ayatollah Khamenei advised the tenth government fully and precisely abide by laws, reiterating, “If in a case the laws would be breached, the matter would not end merely by violation of a law, rather it marks a beginning of broader lawlessness.”

Being broadminded and good natured, listening to the reviews and criticism of the critics was the eighth suggestion of the leader to the new government.

The leader of the Islamic Revolution said that the ninth government deserves divine gifts for having tolerated insults and enmities, adding, “Getting tired in this path is not allowed and the little criticisms should not be regarded as enmities.”

Ayatollah Khamenei also advised the president and his colleagues at the government to take full advantage of the advice by the sources of jurisprudence, ‘ulama, and the great religious personalities.

He also encouraged welcoming the criticism made by the academic elites, that would further strengthen the relations and serve as a backing for the government.

Planning and devising an Islamic-Iranian pattern for progress and taking advantage of the elites in order to complete that pattern were the IR Leader’s final recommendation to the government.

“Move in a way that your four year opportunity would provide strong pillars for the future officials and by favour of God you would launch a stronger movement than the ninth government,” Ayatollah Khamenei urged.

Qods Day, symbol of unity among IRI nation

September 11, 2009

13957_980.jpg

In the magnificent and glorious gathering of the Tehrani fasting monotheists in Tehran University campus, the Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Khamenei explained the political behaviour of Imam Ali Ibn Abi Taleb (as) and regarded Imam Khomayni’s political behaviour as identical to Imam Ali’s behaviour.

“The Qods Day is one of the most prominent mementos of the great late Imam Khomayni and by God’s grace and guidance, the great and awake people of Iran will raise united, the flag of support for the oppressed people of Palestine, leading the world’s oppression-fighting nations,” Ayatollah Khamenei stressed.

The IRI Leader regarded the Qods Day as a sign of Imam’s, the Revolution’s and the Iranian people’s cordial interest in the Holy Qods, referring to the anger of the arrogant powers and the Zionists with the Iranian people’s move in keeping the name and memory of Palestine alive.

“The enemy has tried in all years to weaken the Qods Day ceremonies but this year too, the pious Iranian people will commemorate this day by rallying in Tehran and all over the country,” he added.

“People should be cautious that some people do not make use of the Qods Day gatherings to create dispersion, because flag-bearing in support of Palestine is only possible through the unity of people,” Ayatollah Khamenei warned.

The IRI Leader also warned against separation of religion from politics.

“Among menaces of separation of religion from politics is when politics is separated from religion, it is separated from ethics,” said Ayatollah Khamenei.

The Leader said that politics mixed with ethics and spirituality will serve as a means for human perfection, otherwise, it will be a way for supremacy, accumulation of wealth and materialization of worldly private objectives at any cost - something harmful both for the policymakers and the people.

Addressing the political wings and figures and the country’s former and current officials at the beginning of the second Friday prayers sermon, Ayatollah Khamenei discussed the embranchments that appeared in the original trend of people and revolution during the past 30 years.

He regarded the reason for some of these embranchments as disagreement in principles and beliefs, adding: “Some embranchments and disagreements were actually because of interests, but some others were disagreement on how to materialize the principles, and each should be dealt with differently.”

Explaining Imam Khomayni’s dealing with embranchments and disagreements, the IRI Leader said: “The late Imam by following the example of Imam Ali’s political behaviour, dealt differently with political and branching trends in accordance with their nature and essence.”

Referring to the revolutionary and religious history of the branching trends, Ayatollah Khamenei said: “The nature of some of these disagreements was disagreement in the methods of materializing the principles, but some people with fundamental disagreements or fighting on interests confronted and opposed Imam and the Revolution and tried to inject these wrong principles like a fatal poison in the system’s soul and body, but Imam when perceived this threat, put lenience aside and confronted them decisively.”

“Differences of views should not lead to conflicts. The policy of the Islamic system is to work with the majority. But if the opposition groups have ideas that are against the nation’s security and the principles of the system, they will be confronted,” IR Leader said.

Ayatollah Khamenei underlined that offering different ideas with different taste will be in favour of the country adding that different tastes should be in accordance with Islam, the Constitution, and guidelines of the late Imam Khomayni.

“Those who clash with the system and turn their backs on the Islamic establishment become enemies,” said Ayatollah Khamenei.

“Of course, if someone has a different opinion but leaves the system to itself, then the system has nothing against him or her.”

“The system has to deal with those who threaten security, under the guise of seeking the revolution’s principles. The revolutionary principles are not a matter of taste,” Ayatollah Khamenei added.

The IR Leader noted that even figures with revolutionary backgrounds must not let their differences of opinion lead to conflict and warned political movements against trying to undermine the pillars of the Islamic Revolution.

Ayatollah Khamenei went on to urge piety, advising the people and the country’s top figures to avoid corruption as it can alter their hearts and turn them against the system.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the establishment must retain its Islamic qualities, and not turn into a fake Islamic Republic that is secular at heart.

“Positive movements are those that push the country toward growth, justice and religious values while negative ones are those that try to create economic gaps, spread impiety and give into foreign pressure,” IR Leader said.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the enemy will become bolder if Iran retreats from its various rights, including the nuclear stance.

The IR Leader also said that the Islamic Republic is proud to have the Zionist regime as an enemy, while faithful and oppressed nations are IRI’s friends.

IR Leader noted that following the late Imam Khomayni’s guidelines would guarantee progress, glory and national dignity of the country and said as we saw the enemy seeks to hit a blow on the country in recent riots and all people should be vigilant in this regard.

“The fact that 85 percent of people voted in presidential election and 40 million came to ballot boxes, no matter who they voted for, shows people’s confidence in the Islamic system which is true. But the enemies try to prove that this fact was a lie, therefore they continuously used their propaganda to say that people have lost their confidence and some pretending to care about the country raised the question that what should be done to bring back the people’s confidence? But people have confidence in the system and the Islamic system has also confidence in people,” the IR Leader said.

“You will see that these people will have powerful presence in the future elections despite the enemy and ignorant persons’ plots,” said Ayatollah Khamenei.

Pointing to enmity of world arrogant powers including America, Britain and Zionists to Iran, the IR Leader said that the enmity reveals the right path of the Islamic Republic.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that the country and its bright future will belong to the youth. They should be vigilant and make their utmost efforts because scientific, political and economic strength of the country would bring glory to the all nation especially the youth.

At the end of the second sermon, Ayatollah Khamenei cautioned people to be vigilant against some moves which try to weaken the mottos of the late Imam and the Revolution.

Field of art needs hard working individuals

September 15, 2009

14033_599.jpg

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei on Tuesday received a group of film directors, authors, poets and other artists who have a hand in the narration and depiction of the country’s Sacred Defence (1980-88).

At the beginning of the meeting, representatives of the audience presented their ideas on different aspects of art and culture, especially the role of art in the narration of the Sacred Defence.

Ayatollah Khamenei, in his remarks, said that any work of art in the field of Sacred Defence was a superior mission adding that artistic re-creation of the lofty and human characteristics of that period was a great effort which would certainly have the same impact as that of the great event.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the 8-year Defence was much more than just a period of time, adding that the Defence was a collection of lofty values and outstanding beliefs and that its narrators are as mirrors to grandiose and beauty.

The IR Leader said the 8-year Defence was a manifestation of an epic struggle, spirituality, piety, idealism, altruism, resistance, wisdom, and blossoming of talents and opportunities.

“Those artists who narrate that experience actually tell the story of values which any nation can be proud of having some of them,” the IR Leader said.

Ayatollah Khamenei noted that works of art in the field have always enjoyed a massive audience, urging the artists to spent more time and effort in the area.

The IR Leader however noted that Sacred Defence’s works of art have been suffering a low profile in international events. “Even though the policies of international festivals are against the values of the Islamic Revolution and the Sacred Defence, the audience is not limited to the festivals.”

The IR Leader urged the audience that the field of art needs hard-working, creative and hopeful men and women.

The artists at the end of the meeting offered prayers to God in a ceremony led by the IR Leader and then broke their fast.
