Resistance can liberate Palestine (2006/12/11)

Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayed Ali Khamenei Sunday pointed to 60 years of failed attempts to leave the Palestinian issue behind and remove the title of the Islamic land from the maps and called it a Divine Sign.

"Resistance and perseverance could restore the Palestinian lands, in all its parts, to the Palestinians and could help establish the Palestinian Government over the entire land. This will certainly take place," Ayatollah Khamenei told the visiting Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyah Sunday.

Ayatollah Khamenei recalled the conflict situation of the Palestinian Muslims in the early decades of the occupation and the absence of any support by the Arab countries turned worse by certain attempts to dissolve the Palestinian nation in other nations.

"60 years on and despite all these attempts, the Palestinian identity and spirit is now stronger than any other time. Besides, a Palestinian government has taken office which presents an active stance and makes advances on an increasing pace," Ayatollah Khamenei affirmed.

Ayatollah Khamenei underlined the Devine promise of assistance and said, "The Palestinian nation is moving forward. I am certain that the land will be run by the Palestinians themselves some day."

The IR Leader confirmed that resistance stands as the driving force behind the Palestinian progress and their great achievements despite all the mishaps and pressures, adding that the Palestinian government in light of its declared unwavering platform enjoys the full support of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Ayatollah Khamenei admired the Palestinian resistance as an eminent phenomenon in the course of the Islamic history and assured that the nation and government of Palestine will definitely achieve victory under such a spirit and thought.

During the meeting, in which the First Vice President Parviz Davoudi was also present, the Palestinian Premier expressed delight at his meeting with Ayatollah Sayed Ali Khamenei.

Ismail Haniyah praised the Islamic Republic of Iran as the genuine backer of the Palestinian people and the cause of Liberation of Palestine.

Haniyah lauded the role of the departed Imam Khomeini in reviving the Palestinian cause throughout the world of Islam, notably by his proclamation of the Global Day of Qods.

"You too are in the same line for your unwavering support to the Palestinian people," an admiring Haniyah told Ayatollah Khamenei. He expressed hope that the day will come soon in which to stage a meeting between the two in the currently occupied al-Aqsa Mosque.

Haniyah upheld the effective impact of the Islamic Revolution in awakening the world of Islam, especially Palestine and the ensuing First Intifada.

"The Palestinian generation that brought about the first and second Intifada and currently resists against the Zionists is made up of highly-motivated young people who will liberate Palestine," Haniyah said.

Concerning attempts in the past to separate the Palestinian issue from the whole Islamic Ummah, the Palestinian Premier emphasized that the Palestinian issue is an Islamic issue and Palestine is an Islamic land "so that no individual or government in Palestine is allowed to forgo an inch of the land."

Isamil Haniyah reaffirmed that the serving Palestinian government will never recognize the Zionist regime, adding that resistance is the only solution to liberate Palestine as the popular Palestinian choice and an effective, strategic option.

Ayatollah Khamenei:the cardinal purpose of hajj is to show the united identity of the Muslim ummah (2006/12/29)

ÈÓã Çááå ÇáÑÍãä ÇáÑÍیã

æÇáÍãÏ ááå ÑÈ ÇáÚÇáãیä æ ÇáÕáÇﺓ Úáی ÓیÏ ÇáãÑÓáیä

æ Úáی Çááå ÇáØیÈیä æ ÕÍÈå ÇáÕÇÏÞیä

Once again the Hajj season is back with its spiritual tidings, and again it presents a precious opportunity to the Islamic world. While many eager hearts are attracted from all over the world to attend this annual congregation, there are only a fortunate few who actually realize their dream. This is the reason for the perpetuity of this flowing spring.

On the one hand, the annual congress at the House of the beloved reconnects the hearts with the Kiblah of creation on the other hand, the friends who have been detached from one another find an opportunity for the meeting of hearts. It also brings elation and jubilation to the body, spirituality and politics of the Muslim ummah.

Freedom from material contaminations and remembrance of Allah in all our deeds and in all places, although for a few days, is a great souvenir for hajj pilgrims. The acts of worship and rituals of hajj are for the purpose of providing an opportunity to gain a spiritual experience and sense this joyous experience with our souls.

In the area of politics, the cardinal purpose of hajj is to show the united identity of the Muslim ummah. Detachment and separation among the brothers will open the door to those who bear malice toward us and will serve as a breeding ground for the seeds of division among Muslims.

The Muslim ummah embraces various nations, races and followers of different sects in Islam. This diversity and the vast geographical stretch of the ummah in a sensitive and important part of the planet Earth can be a source of strength. Our diversity has enriched and enhanced the ummah's common heritage, culture, history and their effectiveness in the vast part of the globe, and has enabled them to utilize all forms of talents and human and natural potentials.

From the very first days of their entry into The Islamic countries the Western colonialist powers have taken account of this diversity and have consistently attempted to arouse divisive sentiments.

The colonialist politicians knew well that if a united Islamic identity is formed, the door will be closed to their political and economic domination. Therefore, they have planted seeds of division and discord by employing their concentrated and enduring efforts. To succeed in carrying out this nefarious policy and to advance their goal of domination over the Islamic countries, they have taken advantage of the unawareness of the populace and weakness of the political and cultural leaders in Islamic countries.

Suppression of liberation movements in the Islamic countries over the past century, the success of colonialist powers in consolidating their domination over these countries, creation or strengthening of authoritarian regimes, plundering of their natural wealth and destruction of their human resources and consequently keeping Muslim nations behind the caravan of progress in science and technology, have all been made possible under the shadow of disunity that in some cases reached the levels of internecine and fratricidal conflicts.

With the commencement of Islamic awakening which reached its peak with the emergence of the Islamic republic in Iran, the Western camp faced a formidable threat. The failure of political schools of thoughts of East and West, the recognition of the falsehood and the collapse of the values that were represented by the colonialists as the only road to humanity's happiness helped self-awareness among Muslim masses to take root, and successive frustrations of the arrogant powers in covering and extinguishing this divine radiance have sprung up the seedlings of hope in the hearts of Muslim nations.

A glance at today's Palestine which has a government that has come to power committed to the unchangeable principle of "liberation from Zionist occupation", and comparison of the present situation with the seclusion, isolation and weakness of Palestinian people in the past;

A glance at Lebanon in which the Muslims put their lives on the line to defeat the equipped Israeli army with the all the help that it received from the U.S., the West and other hypocritical powers, and its comparison with the Lebanon that the Zionists could easily encroach upon and move forward without any real obstacles;

A glimpse at Iraq, in which its proud people humiliated the pompous America, and bogged down the army and politicians that boasted of having a free hand in Iraq, in a quagmire of political, military and economic problems, and its comparison with previous Iraq in which its bloodthirsty leader brutalized its people with the encouragement of the United States;

A glance at today's Afghanistan in which all the promises of the U.S. and the West have turned out to be lies and the unprecedented military expedition of the united front of Western countries have produced nothing, except destruction, poverty, killings and the growing power of the narcotics mafia;

And finally, a glance at the youthful populations of the Islamic countries and the generation with growing tendency toward Islamic values and the rising sentiments against the U.S. and the West;

Looking at all these developments provide us with a clear and true picture of the falling fortunes and the failed policies of the arrogant powers, especially the United States, and augur well for the emergence of the united Islamic identity.

The American government, the domineering capitalism of the West and the corrupt Zionist political lobbyists have begun to sense the living truth of the Islamic awakening, and by admitting that their military might is useless against this truth, they are using all their power to employ political ploys and tactics.

The entire Muslim ummah, whether the political, cultural and religious elite, or the masses of people, must remain vigilant more than ever before, and try to identify and foil the conniving schemes of the enemy.

One of the most effective schemes of the enemy is to incite the flames of discord and division. By spending money and rushing to put to use whatever they have in their power, they try to keep Muslims engaged in feuding and quarreling over their differences and once again to set us against one another by exploiting our negligence, narrow-mindedness and prejudices.

Today any divisive action in the Islamic world is a historical sin. Those who maliciously use takfir to declare large groups of Muslims as unbelievers, those who insult the sanctities of various divisions of Islam, those who betray and put a dagger in the back of the Lebanese youth who are a source of honour for the Muslim ummah, those who speak of the fabricated threat of a Shiite crescent in order to please the Americans and the Zionists, those who incite fratricidal hostilities and lawlessness in Iraq to defeat its Islamic and popular government, and those who put pressure on the elected HAMAS government in Palestine, whether intentionally or unintentionally, will be regarded as culprits, detested by history and future generations and looked upon as mercenaries of the brutal enemy.

Muslims all over the world must know that the era of humiliation and backwardness of the Islamic world has come to an end. We are all witnessing the coming of a new era. The flawed frame of mind that Muslim countries will remain enthralled in the cultural and political claws of the West and will continue to emulate them in their individual and collective behaviours have been eradicated from the minds of Muslim masses by the hands of the Westerners themselves, and as the result of their excessive arrogance and conceit.

The concept of the west especially after being lad by the US, through its flagrant acts of oppression and endlessly arrogant and illogical behaviour, is now clearly seen as an anti-value in the Islamic world. Their treatment of the Palestinian people compared to their treatment of the bloodthirsty Zionist regime, their position with respect to the admission of the Zionist regime on possession of nuclear weapons, against their position on civilian use of nuclear energy by Iran, their support for military aggression against Lebanon and their defense for the aggressor, their hostility toward the defenders of Lebanon, who were prepared to sacrifice their lives, relentlessly blackmailing the western governments and constant surrender of the western governments to the demands of the Zionist regime, supporting insulters of sanctities of Islam and even open defamation of Islam by high-ranking authorities in the West, including the Pope, while making any inquiry into and questioning of Holocaust or the formation of the Zionist regime a punishable offence, military attacks against Iraq and Afghanistan and killing of civilian population under the name of democracy, while conspiring against democratic governments in Palestine, Iraq and in Latin America and in fact anywhere that their stooges do no come to power, all the hullabaloo on the war on terror while clandestinely talking with and supporting brutal terrorists in Iraq.

These irrational and malicious behaviours have provided clear proof to Muslim nations and have helped strengthen the Islamic awakening. Whether they like it or not, today a profound and deep-rooted movement has begun in the Islamic world. This movement will lead to the independence, dignity and rejuvenation of the Muslim ummah.

This is a decisive juncture in history. The elite and the intellectuals have a huge responsibility on their shoulders. Any weakness, wavering, misguided actions and negligence on their part will lead to disaster. Ulema should not remain silent in the face of divisive actions, the intellectuals should not shirk their responsibility to impart spirit of hope in our youth, and politicians and leaders should not distance themselves from the people and must rely on them. And the Islamic governments should strengthen their ranks and solidarity and use the power of the people to overcome the threats of the domineering powers.

Today the intelligence services of the U.S. and Britain in Iraq, Lebanon and in countries of North Africa, and wherever they can, are spreading the virus of religious division and discord. The congregation of hajj keeps us immune from this deadly virus and places this sacred verse of Koran in our full view: And obey Allah and His Apostle and do not quarrel for then you will be weak in hearts and your power will depart, and be patient; surely Allah is with the patient. Surah VIII: 46

Today distancing ourselves from moshrekin is the heartfelt desire and the call of all Muslim nations. The season of hajj is the only opportunity when this desire can be expressed with full force.

Let us seize this opportunity to pray for Allah's grace and favour on all hajj pilgrims and pray for the earliest coming of the Promised Mahdi(A.S.) Cleanse yourselves in this vast ocean. I pray for your success and happiness and for the acceptance of your hajj.

Sayyid Ali Khamenei

Qadir (/Gadir), day of Divine appointment (2007/01/09)

Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayed Ali Khamenei felicitated the auspicious Divine festival of Eid al-Qadir to a large audience of people Monday and described the important event in which Gabriel proclaimed Ali Ibn Abi Taleb the successor to the Last Messenger Hazrat Muhammad, as sign of grandeur, comprehensiveness and foresight of Islam.

"Today the prime duty of Muslims, especially ulema, intellectual figures, prominent personalities and politicians is to undertake efforts to further boost unity among Muslims and help promote Islamic awakening and demote discord and disagreement in the world of Islam," Ayatollah Khamenei noted.

Ayatollah Khamenei honored the Last Messenger for appointing such a unique and all-embodied personality like Ali (A.S) on the day of Qadir and called it a Divine appointment that made Islam perfect by showing the roadmap following his departure.

"Hazrat Ali was the ultimate representation of moral edification, religious practicing and unwavering allegiance to faith, refusal to heed non-Godly affairs, unfazed drive in the path of God, employment of knowledge, wisdom, foresight, power and resolve," the IR Leader affirmed, adding that his appointment to be the successor to the Last Messenger constitutes the leadership of the Islamic Ummah in the course of time.

Ayatollah Khamenei urged preventing the momentous event to become a matter of provocation among Muslims or undermining Islam.

"Enemy is bent on inciting discord and bloody fratricide among Muslims. Shiite people must be wary not to make the least of statement or move that may promote the ploy. Sunni brethren for their part must keep vigilance and take alert to enemy's possible abuse of religious sentiments and perceptions," Ayatollah Khamenei urged.

Raising the failure of America's policies in Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon and Palestine, already admitted to by its own politicians, Ayatollah Khamenei said: "In the wake of those defeats, the arrogant powers, masterminded by America, have turned to Shia-Sunni discord stratagem in order to torpedo the ever-widening wave of Islamic awakening that began life as the Islamic Republic flag was hoisted in Iran."

The IR Leader called on the Islamic world, notably Muslim intellectuals and scholars to create awareness in people from different walks of life and promote unity and solidarity among Muslims.

Ayatollah Khamenei raised enemy propaganda from the time the Islamic Revolution got victory that aimed to intimidate regional countries from the Islamic Republic of Iran and urged leaders and politicians of the Islamic countries, particularly the regional states to realize that the dignity of Islam and the strength of the Islamic Republic of Iran would prove a boon and beacon for them.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution blamed the weak position of the Islamic countries as the chief cause behind America's bully treatment of them.

"America continues to budge to the Zionist regime and in return keeps to make some Arab states budge. They will never have to budge provided they rely on a immense power," Ayatollah Khamenei underlined.

Concerning certain reports about America's efforts to form an alliance with Britain and some Arab states against the Islamic Republic of Iran, the IR Leader noted, "such an alliance translates into cooperation with two foreboding and maculate governments against a nation which have already brought honor to Islam and have made many sacrifices in this concern. Arab governments must be wary of the perilous trap."

"Even if such an alliance is made it is good for nothing. Because during the Imposed War time (Saddam Hussein invasion of Iran in 1980), a more powerful alliance took form to occupy part of the Iranian soil at the hand of the black-record and doomed stooge, Saddam. They exhausted all their efforts for eight full years, but virtually failed to do a damn thing. This time around too, their plot against the Islamic System will produce nothing."

Ayatollah Khamenei affirmed that the progress of the Islamic Republic of Iran in different fields of science and technology also belongs to the world Islam.

"Nuclear energy, as an indigenous achievement, is a source of honor for the Iranian nation as well as the world of Islam. If some Arab and Islamic states have held perceptions that they could gain consent of the Zionist regime and alleviate the concerns of the usurper regime by joining America-Britain alliance, they have made a political false step," Ayatollah Khamenei underscored.

"The Iranian nation no doubt will not abandon its right and the authorities too can not afford to leave behind the great achievement," Ayatollah khamenei proclaimed.

Islamic scholars expected to work out charter of Islamic unity (2007/04/07)

Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayed Ali Khamenei Friday called on Muslim scholars and intellectuals to work out a charter of Islamic unity in the form of a historical demand.

Ayatollah Khamenei made the call to an audience of senior Iranian authorities as well as ambassadors of Islamic countries in Tehran and several invitees to a Conference on Islamic unity in Tehran in which he congratulated Muslims on the auspicious birth anniversary of the noblest messenger of Allah Hazrat Muhammad and the 6th Shii Imam Jafar al-Sadeq peace be upon them.

"In light of the dire need of the Islamic world to unity and that the genuine solution to the problems of Muslims lies in their Islamic unity and harmony, the Muslim Alims and intellectuals are expected to formulate the charter of Islamic unity as a historical claim," Ayatollah Khamenei urged.

The IR Leader viewed happiness of humanity as a tribute to the compassion and blessings of the noblest messenger of Allah and underlined the mankind's need to his teachings to find salvation and pave the ground for justice and sublime humane values.

"The Islamic umma, casting behind years of ignorance, has now developed a new look at the Islamic creed. The world of Islam can afford to take lead of human move towards perfection through so fresh a foresight and appreciation," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

Ayatollah Khamenei reminded the addresses about the realities of the current world notably the Islamic awakening and a return to Islam, revival of Qoran and creation of a consistent umma.

"These aspirations, for years viewed as a castle in the air and floated only by some of the prominent figures and reformist of the world of Islam, have now turned into a live slogan for the masses, specially young and educated people," Ayatollah Khamenei affirmed, noting that the victory of Islam and the perseverance of the Iranian nation in imbuing the Islamic umma with hope had played a key part in the event.

"Parallel to Islamic awakening and rebirth of authentic Islamic slogans, the forces of arrogance have further organized, solidified and multiplied their enmity since the awakening of the world of Islam has posed a large peril to the arrogant powers and the overall global hegemony," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

The Islamic Revolution Leader described the recent ill-will projects of stirring modern time Crusades, affronting the noble messenger of Allah Hazrat Muhammad PBUH, and faking a ferocious image out of Muslims as a premeditated ploy to challenge the front of Islamic identity.

"One more reality of the current world is that unlike materialistic calculations and media propaganda, the apparently powerful front of arrogance has lost the battle to the great Islamic movement," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

Ayatollah Khamenei believed that the failed projects of the American-led front of arrogance in the Middle East, especially in Palestine, Iraq and Lebanon, well exemplifies the reality, urging those who carry pretensions of re-thinking the tacks to take these undeniable realities into consideration.

Ayatollah Khamenei then renewed call for Islamic harmony as a dire necessity to keep on the profound movement of the Islamic umma towards victory.

"The forces of arrogance seek to incite difference and sectarian conflict between Muslims to counter which unity and harmony among the Islamic umma must be promoted and for the same reason, this (new Iranian) year was called year of national unity and Islamic harmony," the IR Leader said.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that the chief hindrance to unity comes from ill-advised perceptions, illusive ideas, misunderstanding and unawareness about each other's consistent basics of thinking.

The IR Leader then underscored the role of Islamic governments and Muslim Alims in paving the ground for the materialization for the Islamic unity and harmony, adding given the charter of Islamic unity is not drawn up today, the posterity will take us to task.

Ayatollah Khamenei asserted that the forces of arrogance never bother distinguishing between Shii and Sunni and treat both of them as members of the overall Muslim community.

"While the world of arrogance seeks to dent the face of Muslims and takes the Islamic awakening which has taken place among Shii and Sunni as a threat and subjects it to assault, does reason judges that Muslims engage in sectarian and religious rows and forget their common enemy?"

"Islamic governments must bridge gap between themselves. If they rely on their nations, might and capabilities, they will grow more powerful than once they depend on the American politicians," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

"The Islamic Iran has displayed the experience of struggle against superpowers, reliance on God and dependence on own capabilities so that during the past 28 years (post-revolutionary era) the Iranian nation has grown mightier and more advanced despite every sort of pressure and plot," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

IR Leader calls new year, the year of national unity and Islamic harmony (2007/03/21)

Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayed Ali Khamenei called the new Iranian year "the year of national unity and Islamic harmony."

In his celebratory remarks to open the new Iranian year of 1386, the IR Leader said all Iranians wish for national independence, national dignity and public welfare and that these aims would be realized through Islamic faith, unity of goal, national hope and resolve, due utilization of the country's potentialities as well as exercising foresight and exerting efforts.

Ayatollah Khamenei congratulated Nowrouz (the New Year Day) to every one of the Iranian people, Iranians expats as well as every nation that celebrates the day and characterized it as the Iranian national celebration.

Ayatollah Khamenei touched on the many glories of the national celebration of Nowrouz and called for enhancing bonds of affection and rejuvenating the surrounding to mark the exquisite, modest and affectionate features of the opening day of the New Year which are also confirmed by the revered creed of Islam.

As regards the naming of the previous Iranian year after the Noblest Messenger of Allah Hazrat Mohammad (S), Ayatollah Khamenei noted that even though the precedent year was abundant in name and memory of the revered man a very large time is needed to cherish the position of the noblest messenger so that all years shall be named after him.

The Islamic Revolution Leader said Iran's happy achievements surpassed bitter moments during the last year, singling out the manifestation of the Iranian national grandeur in international arenas which came about through reprised efforts inside the country in scientific and economic domains.

"The national movement will be buoyed up in the New Year through by the firm will of the people and authorities as the nation would cal for," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

The IR Leader considered favorable future a tribute to public awareness, hope and will as well as national confidence, adding the Iranian nation will make anew its will as the New Year commences and keeps on its bright path by taking on newer fields and deliberate treatment of challenges and enmities.

Ayatollah Khamenei believed that the enemy essentially challenges the Iranian nation through "sowing discord by demoting the Iranian national unity" and "inciting economic problems to slow down the country's progress."

The Leader however said that following the notification of the general policies of the article 44 of the Constitution that pave the ground for business ventures, the enemy attempts would remain futile given to efforts of all people, including national forces with deep belief in the lofty national aspirations to use the country's ample capacities.

Ayatollah Khamenei cautioned about enemy's psychological warfare and vicious efforts to stir up differences between the Iranian people and the world of Islam.

"Under the pretext of sectarian feelings, religious inclinations and gild orientations, the enemies are bent on destroying unity of the Iranian nation or fan religious differences in the world of Islam and draw a wedge between the Iranian nation and the rest of the Islamic community by inciting war between Shiites and Sunnis," Ayatollah Khamenei warned.

Ayatollah Khamenei affirmed that the sole way to frustrate enemies and thwart their plots lies in efforts to unite the nation and promote its integrity.

"In God's assistance, all people of every sect or religion will expedite their hopeful move towards their bright future," Ayatollah Khamenei vowed, adding, "at the same time all Muslim nations will demonstrate their unity by promoting Islamic solidarity and fraternity.

IRI Army secured religious identity

17/04/2007

Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayed Ali Khamenei Tuesday called on the Army to preserve the religious and revolutionary identity it developed in its structure following the 1979 Islamic Revolution and urged the ranks to foster the great development.

Ayatollah Khamenei told the General Commander and a group of lower ranked commanders of the Army that the army is expected to foster the spirit of faith, revolutionary, innovation, firm resolve, contact with masses, self-confidence and courage to do great works so that it could smooth the path for the young talents to blossom.

In the meeting, planned to mark April 18, the Day of Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Commander-in-chief felicitated the day to the army personnel and their families and called April 18 an Eid (spiritual holiday).

"The defunct regime (of Shah) which was backed by America and other superpowers amassed all its efforts on building an army of irreligious and unpopular identity. Nevertheless, following the Islamic Revolution, the Army picked a religious identity through diligence of faithful, revolutionary and popular figures within the Army," Ayatollah Khamenei affirmed.

Ayatollah Khamenei granted tribute for the change of identity in the Army to several competent, brave, prudent and faithful men within the Army early on the revolution as well as a proper opportunity provided in the Islamic Republic System to help top-ranked revolutionary commanders to emerge, namely Shahid Fallahi, Shahid Sayyad Shirazi, Shahid Sattari, Shahid Babai and the late Zahirnejad.

"These devout and revolutionary commanders alongside several pure and advised men in the body of the Army helped it to acquire self-reliance and innovation so that newer talents emerge and the Army makes advances day by day," Ayatollah Sayed Ali Khamenei said.

"Such an Army, alongside the (Islamic Revolution Guard) Corps and the Basij could secure victory over the equipped Army of the Baathist regime of Saddam despite all the backing lent to it by the superpowers," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

"The Islamic Republic System stands as an innovative system in terms of dependence on religion in the formation of a political and social system," Ayatollah Khamenei affirmed, adding that the system had found a place in the world, especially among the intellectuals and elites of the world of Islam and that the superpowers had found no other way than to bow to it.

Ayatollah Khamenei acknowledged that the premium feature of such a religious system is its capability to help the talents to flourish and to set the stage for the creative minds to emerge.

"The army of the Islamic Republic System, by far more superior than early on the revolution and the Sacred Defense era (1980-8) in terms of equipment, experience and human resources, is expected to keep on burgeoning by preserving its all-embracing preparedness, deepening its religious causes and providing the ground for the growth of faithful men and newer talents," Ayatollah Khamenei urged.

Ayatollah Khamenei instructed the Army to take the necessity to equip itself with super modern military knowledge and make sophisticated equipments through help of its internecine resources.

Workers community called on to foster production

30/04/2007

Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayed Ali Khamenei praised the position of workers in economic development and instructed the Administration to sort out worker-investor relationship especially in favor of workers security so as to help the country's economy to pick a quicker flourish through further investment and value-added profits.

Ayatollah Khamenei made the praises and instructions in a thousands-strong gathering of workers who had thronged to mark the eleventh day of the second month of the Iranian calendar which enshrines the World Laborer Day (May 1).

Ayatollah Khamenei in his speech declared Islam's view about labor as per which it regards working as a top-notch merit.

The IR Leader commended the country's worker community for their perseverance to stand by the Islamic System during the past 27 years despite a raft of political conspiracies. "They (workers) never abandoned factory and production even for a moment and that is a great pride for the worker community," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

Ayatollah Khamenei hailed the workers as devout, considerate, revolutionary and faithful to revolutionary aspirations.

"The worker community is featured by a drive to find solutions to problems from within the framework of the Islamic System whose main characteristic is to assist underprivileged strata and expand justice while West-linked establishments has shown in practice they hold no mercy for workers," Ayatollah Khamenei affirmed.

Ayatollah Khamenei likened the trio of worker, investor and the Administration to the three sides of a national economic growth triangle.

The IR Leader reaffirmed his statements early on the year that economic growth constitutes a major goal for the nation, adding that any such growth calls for further production under a joint worker-investor-Administration effort which lives up to its own assignments.

Ayatollah Khamenei underlined an Islam-championed respect for any investor and his or her capital, adding, "unlike a few failure schools of economy which tend to divide society into two poles and unlike the Western community in which capital owners make a comment or better say act God on every affair, in the Islamic System, respect of investor comes along respect of worker and in this reciprocal effort, every party is entitled to enjoy its fair and just share."

Ayatollah Khamenei assigned the Administration to sort out investor-worker relationship. "The Administration must watch over the affair, lift the two parties from any sort of insecurity and while moving to prevent them from encroaching on one another, extend a larger shgare of its support umbrella over the workers."

The IR Leader acknowledged that domestic products are lagging on quality grounds. "Domestic products may grow in terms of quality and optimization by way of promoting technical and professional training and creating grounds for worker innovation," Ayatollah Khamenei recommended.

The IR Leader rejected a culture of demoting domestic products and promoting foreign products that was all the rage in the pre-Islamic-Revolution era. "For years, it was drummed up in this country that Iranians are not capable of making quality goods; unfortunately remnants of the culture still linger in the country," Ayatollah Khamenei deplored, adding however that the workers can afford to preserve national dignity and reputation with respect to domestic industry by fostering their capabilities.

Issuing alert about enemy efforts to trouble the milieu of affection and understanding among different walks of life in the country, Ayatollah Khamenei added that the enemy had leveled at the unity and cohesion of the powerful and united body of the Iranian nation by trying to aggrandize guild claims and stir up an unhealthy race track on which every party demands concessions only to disrupt concentration and planning affairs of the Administration.

"Not surprisingly then, as this year too was named year of national unity, all the strata and guilds are expected to join a united and solid rank and affectionately transform the country into a healthy ground for service and diligence and expedite the pace of economic growth," Ayatollah Khamenei urged for.

The IR Leader acknowledged that the Iranian nation in the past 27 years has been showing its power and talent, proving that the era of humiliation of the nation is over.

"The independent, dignified and prideful Iranian nation in light of its ample human resources and younger talents feels more capable than ever to move up in a quicker manner," Ayatollah Khamenei underscored.

Khamenei supports talks with US on Iraq

TEHRAN, May 16: Iran's spiritual leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, on Wednesday said he supported US-Iran talks in Baghdad about improving Iraq's security, state-run television reported.

But he warned that the talks would only focus on American responsibilities in Iraq -- not Iranian influence in its neighbouring country -- and said they were not a change in Tehran's policy toward Washington.

“The talks will only be about the responsibility of the occupiers in Iraq,” the broadcast quoted Khamenei, who has final say on all state matters, as saying.

“They think that Islamic Republic has changed its firm, logical and defendable policy in rejecting negotiation with the US They are wrong,” he was quoted as saying during a speech to a group of clerics in Mashad city, about 1,000 kilometers northeast of Tehran.

The two countries recently said they would hold ambassador-level talks about Iran's war-torn neighbour, Iraq. Although such talks are seen as a political turnabout, potential for real progress is low as tensions between Iran and the US have continued to escalate.

Contacts between the countries have long been taboo, a status enforced by Iran's top leadership -- made up of Shiite clerics -- since the US cut ties with Iran after the 1979 seizure of the US Embassy in Tehran.

Khamenei said Iran's Foreign Ministry decided to talk with the US only because Washington did not fulfil its responsibilities in Iraq and accused the US of trying to topple the current Shiite-led Iraqi government.

“The Iranian Foreign Ministry, based on a request by Iraqi government, decided to remind the US of its responsibilities and duties regarding security ... in a face-to-face negotiation and give them an ultimatum,” he was quoted as saying. The broadcast did not elaborate or say what the ultimatum was.

But he stressed that Iran's stance on Washington was the same and would only change if the US changed its policies. The broadcast came as dozens of Iranian hard-line students gathered on Wednesday in front of the presidential palace in downtown Tehran and criticised the government's decision for holding talk with the US.

''How it is possible to negotiate with the arrogant, bullying, expansionist and colonialist government of the US, especially with the current bold, impolite and demanding leaders?'' state TV quoted Khamenei as saying.

Baghdad has been encouraging Iran and the United States -- the two countries with the greatest influence in Iraq -- to talk.

Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, who met his Iranian counterpart Manouchehr Mottaki during an Organisation of the Islamic Conference meeting in Islamabad, Pakistan on Wednesday, said the two discussed plans for talks between Iraqi, Iranian and US officials in Baghdad and that they would take place ''soon.''''I think this is a very good opportunity (to) ease the regional tension, to help the Iraqi government stabilize the situation,'' Zebari told reporters.

The US accuses Iran of secretly trying to develop nuclear weapons and supplying Shia militias in Iraq with roadside bombs used to kill US troops. Iran denies the allegations.

During a trip to the region last week, US Vice President Richard Cheney warned that the US and its allies would prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and dominating the region. Iran has demanded the US leave the ME.

Iran has stressed that it sees the US military presence in Iraq as a serious threat to its security. More than 140,000 US troops are in Iraq — with more expected as part of a stepped-up Baghdad security operation.—AP

Ayatollah Khamenei underlined a lack of enthusiasm on the part of the world's people especially in West towards material values accompanied by the international super powers' efforts to bar human being from the track of spirituality.

"In such a world, the Iranian nation, enjoying both spiritual and material wealth no least ample young talents, has held the flag of spirituality, declaring its wish to help human being to reach prosperity, happiness, welfare, security and independence under the auspices of spirituality and having proved it could."

"The drive mars the tenets of the world of West and throws gauntlet at the global hegemony," Ayatollah Khamenei said, adding that for the same reason the world superpowers are trying to prevent the Iranian nation from moving ahead through conspiring political or economic ploys, nevertheless the nation will keep it up through its insurmountable resolve.

Iran: US no more a wall of fear

Sun, 01 Jul 2007 23:19:29

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution says the false façade of the US, which used to intimidate other nations, has dissipated.

He made the comment in his meeting with Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez who is in Tehran on a three-day visit.

"Its shaky political structure as well as the ongoing domestic complications it has to deal with has proven the bullying policies of the US government," Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei added.

Referring to the futile efforts of the US to debilitate both Venezuela and Iran, which have independent popular governments, the Leader said, "Therefore, cooperation between the two nations is not only natural but needs to be boosted as well."

"Given the fact that world powers have always tried to weaken independent countries, these nations must beef up cooperation in all sectors," he stated.

He also stressed that the bilateral agreements between the two countries should be implemented.

In the meantime, Chavez pointed to the large number of contracts between the two countries in the fields of oil and gas, petrochemical sectors and said that Caracas is seriously seeking stronger ties with Tehran.

He said the recent developments in Latin America and the emergence of independent anti-American governments indicates that imperialism is declining.

"Independent nations should look forward to the future,” he added.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was also present at the meeting.

Bush must face trial over Iraq: Khamenei

TEHRAN, Sept 14: Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Friday that US President George Bush had been defeated in his Middle East plans and would one day stand trial for “atrocities” committed in Iraq.

Khamenei’s withering personal attack on the US president in the Friday prayer sermon came one day after Bush once again accused Iran of undermining the Iraqi government.

“I have a firm belief that one day this current US president and the American officials will be tried in a fair international court for the atrocities committed in Iraq,” he said.

“They have to be held accountable. The United States cannot ignore its responsibility,” Khamenei told worshippers, who punctuated his sermon with shouts of “Death to America”.

“The situation will not remain like this. One day it was Hitler, then it was the turn of Saddam,” he said.

Khamenei accused the United States of invading Iraq in 2003 to execute a plan to create a Middle East that would be “based around” Iran’s arch enemy Israel and aimed at weakening the region’s Islamic system. “The Americans were defeated in their aims in the ME and were defeated in their ultimate aim for the Islamic Republic of Iran.

“The Middle East plan was not achieved and they did not touch the Islamic Republic of Iran,” he said.—AFP

Mughniyeh's blood would double the resistance

14/02/2008

Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei wrote a message Thursday to pass on condolences to Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah over the martyrdom of the assassinated Lebanese warrior Hajj Imad Mughniyeh.

The text of the message in full follows.

Bismillah-e Rahman-e Rahim

Dear brother Hojjat-ol-Islam Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah

The martyrdom of the dedicated and diligent brother Hajj Imad Mughniyeh was a great accomplishment and a prosperous culmination for the man himself as his heart was brimming with the love of diligence in the path of God; at the same time, it was a source of pride for the Lebanese nation which is rearing and offering such great men to the span of freedom seeking and combat against oppression.

Though a heartrending loss for all noble men and all those who knew him, not least his parents, his wife and his dear children, the life and death of the eminent, diligent freeman and his likes is an epic which would awaken the nations, produce examples to youths and show to every one the path to bright horizons.

The bloodthirsty, criminal Zionists must mind that the pure blood of such martyrs as Imad Mughniyeh would generate hundreds of other Imad Mughniyehs and would double the resistance against oppression, corruption and transgression.

Such men as the great martyr sacrifice their lives, well-being and temporal gains in the path of support for the innocent and combat against the oppression and arrogance. This is a sublime merit to which all the fair-minded individuals would pay homage.

May Allah's Consent be on him as well as on all those who are dedicated to the path of truth.

I offer my congratulations and condolences over the great martyrdom to you and his respected family as well as the prideful youths of Hezbollah and resistance and the overall Lebanese nation.

Greetings to him and you and Mercy of Allah

Sayyed Ali Khamenei

Iranians determined to grow into a powerful nation

17/02/2008

Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei affirmed Sunday that the Iranian nation was determined to grow into a powerful nation and set example for other nations by marching along its revolutionary platform and taking help of its historical heritage and young talents.

In a speech to a large crowd of people from East Azarbaijan province, Ayatollah Khamenei said the Islamic Revolution could live an increasingly exuberant life owing to its alert people, their standing by the revolutionary values and its national assets.

The IR Leader marked a February 18, 1978 uprising by the people in the provincial city of Tabriz and described the move as a turning point in the history of the 1979 Islamic Revolution and a token of public alertness and braveness.

"These qualities embrace the secret to the freedom of nations from bully and their march towards prosperity and salvation. The Iranian nation thank to the leadership of Imam Khomeini (R.A.) moved from an arrogance- and despotism-wrecked status to a live, alert and powerful nation where it could field its national strength," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the faith and perseverance of people would help distinguish the Islamic Revolution from other world revolution. He elaborated on the argument by making mention of early last week's nationwide rallies across the I.R. of Iran held to mark the 29th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.

"Even with 29 years on since the victory of the Islamic Revolution, the presence and ebullience of the public in this year's ceremonies were far stronger than the previous years. It proves the Islamic Revolution and the Iranian nation are alive," the IR Leader said.

"Those individuals who on the spur of the moment pronounced the Islamic Revolution and Imam Khomeini as bygone in the public eye a few years ago were wrong as we now see the revolutionary slogans more thriving than past so that the people are placing more interest on those who are more caring for the mottos," Ayatollah Khamenei affirmed.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the Islamic Revolution helped promote the Iranian nation to its present status and boosted confidence in its youth.

"The principal motive behind the enemy's pressure and blackmail is that the enemy is anxious about the resolve of the Iranian nation to keep its confident and fast march towards revolutionary aspirations. In fact, an efficient Islamic Revolution would endanger the position of arrogance among the Islamic countries," Ayatollah khamenei added.

Ayatollah Khamenei then brought up the recent remarks by the US President who had urged for further pressure on the Iranian nation to make it waive nuclear technology, noting that the westerners knew Iran was not after nuclear weapon however they tried to bar the nation from achieving a top-notch technology on its own because such a breakthrough would enliven self-belief among the Muslims.

The Islamic Revolution Leader said that only through setting up a powerful perseverance against America and the rest of arrogant fold a nation would be able to exercise its rights.

"Against the barrage of propagandas and pressures, the Iranian nation unequivocally declares it would protect its rights and would fulfill them knowing that the God would take it to task in case it fails the mission," Ayatollah Khamenei averred.

The Islamic Revolution Leader then recalled the theme of the current Iranian nation named the year of national unity upon his directive, urging for further cohesion in the revolutionary structure.

"The year of the national unity issues call on the house of revolution to consolidate its internal cohesion irrespective of trivial differences or useless wrangles," Ayatollah Khamenei urged.

The IR Leader then recalled the upcoming March 14 parliamentary elections and considered it as a public stage.

"In the past editions of elections, I called for a massive and enthusiastic presence of people because going to ballot runs counter to enemy desire," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

"By a large turnout in the polls, people would make diligence in the path of Allah and they would receive the Almighty's bounties," the IR Leader underlined.

Ayatollah Khamenei also urged for people to vote to the most competent nominees, adding that as a key quality, those voted in must further promote the revolutionary mottoes, regardless of their partisan affiliations.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the problems would be resolved by living up to the mottoes of the Islamic Revolution, adding that only those individuals who have faith in Islam, Islamic evolution's slogans and national abilities should be voted into the decision making bodies.

In the same context, Ayatollah Khamenei urged the people to be wary of double-faced persons.

Ayatollah Khamenei also commemorated the memory of the senior Lebanese warrior Hajj Imad Mughniyeh, adding that the mottoes of the Islamic Revolution provided a source of honor to many Muslim, including the assassinated Hezbollah commander.

"Martyr Hajj Imad Mughniyeh who died a martyr at the hands of the Zionists considered himself as descendant of Imam Khomeini and felt pride because Imam revived him and other Lebanese and Palestinian youths and imbued them with a new spirit," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

Ayatollah Khamenei viewed the disgraceful defeat of the Zionist regime and America against a few faithful, lightly-armed young Lebanese men in the Sumer 2006 war as the fruit of the Islamic Revolution and the movement of Imam Khomeini.

"The Lebanese youths tore apart the myth of invincibility of the Zionist regime and America by reliance on God and renouncing fear of death," the Islamic Revolution Leader affirmed.

Ceaseless endeavor essential to materialize revolutionary goals (2008/05/03 - 20:06)

Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei recommended Saturday that in order to set up an accurate and precise judgment about the performance of the Islamic Revolution, one must consider the goals, the internal and external impediments and the accomplishments of the revolution through a large-scale approach.

Speaking to a gathering of over 20 thousand university professors or students in Fars province south of Iran, the IR Leader said that a united and ceaseless endeavor along with relentless combat against the sources of encumbrances would indeed help fulfill all the aspirations sought by the Islamic Revolution.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that it is essential to take account of trivial matters when one is engaged in developing specific plans or programs, however when making judgment about a massive event like the Islamic Revolution, taking account of trivial matters might lead to confusion or ignorance.

The IR Leader elaborated that a first stage to achieve a precise and accurate judgment about the revolution is to deliberate on the goals of the enormous movement.

"By the revolution, the people were seeking to build an independent Iran, free from despotic rules, and brimful with prosperity, security, spirituality and scientific accomplishments so that other nations learn there is also a viable model of Islamic community there," Ayatollah Khamenei added.

In the same regard, Ayatollah Khamenei reminded the audience that contrary to a false interpretation of Islam, all the material and spiritual goals of the revolution are inspired by its Islamic nature, adding that Islam is capable of fulfilling all spiritual or material needs of the mankind.

Concerning the requirement of taking into account the internal and external impediments facing the revolution before making any judgment about its performance, Ayatollah Khamenei said that according to Devine Providence any endeavor would inevitably face some sort of encumbrance so as to help such notions as Jihad (selflessness) and perseverance take a concrete form.

Ayatollah Khamenei added that should man makes selfless efforts, the Divine Providence would bring victory to him.

Ayatollah Khamenei outlined the internal obstacles facing the revolution as intellectual weakness, indolence, excessive tolerance, simple-mindedness, self-denial, and some misperceptions about Islamic views, especially regarding Mahdaviat (belief in eventual savior of the world).

"Many of these hurdles have been lifted by the help of people and authorities however some others are out there," the IR Leader added.

Ayatollah Khamenei added that the society suffers from such shortfalls as consumerism and pursuit of luxury life, adding that the pitfalls must be removed through a joint effort by people, authorities and the media.

Concerning the external impediments facing the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Khamenei pointed to the eight-year imposed war (1980-88) as well as riots and unrests incited early in the revolution by rebels, counter-revolutionary elements and eventually those who had incurred some losses due to the Islamic Revolution.

"Even though the Iranian nation could effectively transforme the immense threats into a large opportunity for further progress, the protracted war inflicted heavy losses and damages on the Iranian nation," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

The IR Leader said another external impediment to the revolution was the US mobilization of all its capacities to deal blows to the Iranian nation, adding that the nation and revolution had really struck a brilliant performance in light of the massive existing encumbrances in home and abroad.

Ayatollah Khamenei attributed the US full-blown deployment of forces against the Islamic Revolution to both the US policy of creating phony external enemies in a bid to cover up its domestic failures and the reality on the ground that the Iranian nation has seriously jeopardized the US domineering policies by hoisting the flag of resistance and global awakening.

The Islamic Revolution Leader noted that the Islamic System had made huge accomplishments as it currently possesses a larger wealth of experiences, more efficient management, more advanced scientific know-how, and more stable economic status than what were available early in the Islamic Revolution era.

"Moreover, the people have realized that it is wrong to copy other economic models and that it is essential to formulate an Islamic-Iranian model of development," Ayatollah Khamenei added.

"These are a range of strong points which would help the Iranian nation overcome all the existing hurdles provided these advantages are encapsulated with certain qualities," the IR Leader added.

Ayatollah Khamenei urged the academic circles to study the above argument and provide effective solutions for any shortfalls, adding that the eventual imperative strategy would be the collective endeavor of people and authorities.

Ayatollah Khamenei urged the students to avoid enemy decoy in academic circles and enhance their moral character.

"Spirituality and taking company with Koran and Sahife Sajjadiyeh would prove instrumental to your scientific quests and would thwart any projects which have targeted your religious and revolutionary spirit," the IR Leader said.

Ayatollah Khamenei also urged for unity in the student associations, adding that the students must not allow their different tastes to lead to brawling over trivial matters.

Ayatollah Khamenei also urged the students to pave the ground for the national decision-making process by creating an atmosphere of reserach and debate in universities.

Ayatollah Khamenei also called on the young students to pursue social justice demands.

The Islamic Revolution Leader encouraged the students that after the Almighty God, he considers the faithful, ebulient students as his mainstay and that of the Islamic System.

Ayatollah Khamenei told a committee to commemorate the 19th anniversary of the sad departure of Imam Khomeini (2008/05/21 - 18:21)

Imam Khomeini demarked the main diplomatic and ideological boundaries of the Islamic Republic by pen and tongue and was sedulous to protect those boundaries," the Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei said Wednesday.

Ayatollah Khamenei told a committee to commemorate the 19th anniversary of the sad departure of Imam Khomeini that the perfect personality of the departed was an inspirational model for treading the path of the Islamic Revolution.

"The honorable Imam tried in different revolutionary stages to protect the premises of the Islamic Revolution from diversion or infiltration of alien agents," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

"His attitude teaches us a great lesson," the IR Leader added.

The IR Leader noted that the departed Imam even banned any use of borrowed words like 'democratic republic' and instead coined new words through an Islamic, revolutionary prism.

"The departed Imam coined the terms 'Islamic Republic' and 'Welayah' (custodianship) in place of 'democratic republic' and 'government or monarchy' respectively in an innovative measure to demark the boundaries of the Islamic Republic System," the IR Leader added.

Contrasting Welayah and its equivalences in the current international politics (government, monarchy), Ayatollah Khamenei said that Welayah stood for a combination of sovereignty and intimacy.

"The coinage connotes that the Islamic System pursues sovereignty under Islamic beliefs. It points to Imam's foresight and sedulity to demark the Islamic System's boundaries with other political systems," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

"Political and ideological boundaries function in the same manner as geographical boundaries," the IR Leader noted.

"Unfortunately the IR boundaries were not preserved at some point to the extent that even some individuals who had love for the Revolution and Imam Khomeini moved to cross the boundaries in negligence," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

"The Islamic Republic System is fed by a spontaneous source of energy like the Sun," Ayatollah Khamenei said, adding that a clear sign of the reality was its endurance against all sorts of conspiracies hatched by the enemies.

"A similar and substantive example of the endurance took place early in Islam, during the ten-year government of the Messenger (S.A.)," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

Ayatollah Khamenei said even the alien bloc had acknowledged the progressive trend of the Islamic Republic, adding that the status quo had come by through use of a part of revolutionary capacities and that the nation had yet to exhaust all revolutionary deposits.

In another regard, Ayatollah Khamenei attached high significance to the annual commemoration ceremonies of Imam Khomeini's departure. The IR Leader said the interest of people worldwide in the departed leader was exceptional.

"Notable in the ceremonies is the presence of the young generation which could not see the time of Imam. This shows that the youths keep an abudant source of affection for Imam in their hearts," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei described Basij (2008/05/03)

Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei described Basij (collective name for voluntary public forces) as a blessed tree which was planted and grown under an initiative by Imam Khomeini the Departed.

Speaking to a large gathering of Basij forces as well as soldiers of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) in Fars province south of Iran Saturday, the IR Leader affirmed that Basij or "the collective association of faithful and motivated youths" would always remain essential for the Islamic Revolution in different defensive, cultural and social fields.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the Islamic Revolution was the outcome of the positive response of the ocean of nation to the call of the revered Imam.

"The great response again took place during the Sacred Defense (1980-88) where people with motivation, ebullience and faith rushed to the battleground under the flag of Basij. The great national association has extended roots across the vast Iranian land," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that Basij could be defined as a combination of commitment, faith and motivation, adding that the smart and brilliant innovation of Imam Khomeini was that he managed to mould the sacred national motivation and commitment into an organizational entity.

"Thank to Basij, the revolution never faltered even in the early awesome years of war. Actually the enthusiastic representation of Basij-inspired youths helped brim the hearts with hope and pride," the IR Leader appreciated.

Ayatollah Khamenei recommended Basij forces to study the lifestyle of the senior martyred Basij commanders and their braveries in the Sacred Defense so that they could better realize the merits of Basij.

Ayatollah Khamenei then pointed to the peace-time, civilian capability of the Basij organization to absorb elites in various social fields, adding that the capacity attests to the fact that the significance of Basij is not confined to the task of defending the country against political or military threats and rather the Basij is present wherever Islam or revolution needs a motivated and effective public assistance.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the global monopolist superpowers are holding an inner hostility towards the mottos of independence and justice championed by the Iranian nation, adding that the aliens are expanding their anti-Islamic and Anti-Iranian propaganda under different pretexts whereas the aware Iranian people would remain impenetrable and invincible against the enemies.

The Islamic Revolution Leader noted that by enhanced moralities and religious knowledge, Basij could sustain its progress and expand into the future generations of the dear Iran.

Iranian nation can withstand embargos (2008/05/04)

Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei Sunday instructed the authorities to formulate more effective plans for utilizing the enormous natural and human resources of the country and helping expand business activities.

"The people and authorities must advance the country to the points where foreign sanctions or embargo threats are no longer harmful. They must do the job as a national undertaking through a joint, diligent effort and upon a clear-cut timetable," Ayatollah Khamenei said in a speech to a very large assembly of nomads and other people of the southern Fars provincial city of Nourabad Mamasani.

Ayatollah Khamenei then touched on different bungled conspiracies of the enemies to break the resolution of the Iranian nation, adding, "The enemies of the Islamic Republic of Iran assume now that threats of sanctions could put a damper in our national resolve. Nonetheless, the great Iranian nation will withstand the conspiracies and even will take large strides as it did in the past 30 years under different sorts of sanctions or embargos.

"Haven't you already tested the Iranian nation? We will keep our path decisively and will not allow the arrogant to tread on the right of the nation," the IR Leader said, alluding to the superpowers' recent threats to impose further embargos on the Iranian nation.

Ayatollah Khamenei affirmed that the Iranian nation would not back down in the face of threats, making it clear that the nation had opted for perfection, dignity, independence and full implementation of Islamic views in the country.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that the only path to salvation and prosperity of the Iranian nation and other Muslim nations lied in the instructions of Islam.

"In the post-revolutionary era, wherever we have lived up to the Islamic orders we could score better performances. The stand-by, ebullient, brave, aware and smart Iranian nation is familiar both with its duties and rights," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

In another regard, Ayatollah Khamenei viewed the nomads as source of dignity for the country, elaborating that in Iran, in contrast with some other countries, the diversity of ethnicities is considered as a privilege.

"The country's nomads have always safeguarded their nationality and religion and showed interest in the Islamic platform as well as their indigenous traditions," the IR Leader added.

Ayatollah Khamenei urged nomad youths to spend more time reading books and consult Alims to enhance their religious bonds.

The IR Leader then reviewed the problems facing the Nourabad Mamasani city and urged the authorities to accord further attention to the underprivileged area.

In this regard, the IR Leader appreciated President Ahmadinejad Administration for making first hand assessments of the situation in different corners of the country in their routine provincial visits.

In the Fars provincial city of Kazeron (2008/05/05)

Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei Monday urged the people and authorities to keep engaged in their concerted effort to build Iran and present an Islamic model of development to the world.

Delivering a landmark speech to a large assembly of people in a stadium in the Fars provincial city of Kazeron south Iran, Ayatollah Khamenei appreciated that the country restored its Iranian-Islamic identity thanks to the Islamic Revolution and launched a long-scale initiative to achieve a specific range of goals set by the same identity.

"30 years on after the Islamic Revolution was triumphed, the Iranian nation, especially the youths are advancing towards the goals more speedily than before. This has triggered frustration among the enemies of the nation," Ayatollah Khamenei praised.

Ayatollah Khamenei elaborated that the global network of arrogance is scared because the progressive move of the Iranian nation has been helping boost Islamic awakening, adding that the nation however must keep alert and identify the enemies' stratagems regardless of the fact that they have yet to see any of its plots bearing results.

Ayatollah Khamenei noted that the Iranian nation is privileged by the existence of intellectual scholars in Howzeh (schools of Islamic jurisprudence) and university and the presence of enthusiastic, selfless youths in the vanguard of scientific and technological spheres.

Ayatollah Khamenei alerted that the enemy tries to incite differences between the country's political affiliations or various sects and distract the youths from the revolutionary path through frivolous entertainments.

"The Iranian nation could rise above the enemy by God's Assistance and through unity and selfless effort," the IR Leader vowed.

Ayatollah Khamenei noted that God Has assisted the Iranian nation, adding, "At the present juncture, God's Assistance has emerged in the reality that the American government as the incarnate of arrogance suffers a host of problems including its failed projects in Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan and Lebanon."

Ayatollah Khamenei then touched on the growing US domestic discontent regarding the protracted presence of the US occupying soldiers in Iraq.

"They have grown so discontent that even the US Republican candidate for presidential elections, though as a publicity stunt, acknowledges what we asserted earlier that the US was primarily pursuing oil by invasion of Iraq. This is another proof that the American government has ended up in failure," the IR Leader said.

Ayatollah Khamenei reckoned that the superpowers by nature try to intimidate their rival even if they find their projects already in tatters.

"The Iranian nation realized the hidden reality and thereby did not feel anxious about the intimidations of America or any other power. It will also keep unperturbed to the extent the enemy would fail to realize its yearning to see the Islamic Republic defunct," Ayatollah Khamenei affirmed.

In this regard, Ayatollah Khamenei urged people and authorities to strive to sustain their cordial relationship, adding that any one who beats drum of schism and tries to drive a wedge between the nation and the authorities moves against the national interests.

In another regard, Ayatollah Khamenei touched on the history of the Kazeroon city, saying that the Kazeroon population must take pride in the fact that the prominent early Islam figure Salman the Persian came from the city.

"Salman the Persian belongs to all Iranians. The Iranian people feel pride in a personality as Salman whom the Holy Messenger (S.A.) considered as being among his revered household," Ayatollah Khamenei added.

"Salman is primarily appreciated for his faith and Mujahidat (selfless effort) in the path of God as well as his pursuit of spring of truth. He constitutes a model for all the Iranian youths," the Islamic Revolution Leader said.

The IR Leader described innovation as an essentiality for the country, defining the notion as a means to pave the way for talents to emerge and for thoughts to flourish and to review the past to expedite pace of progress and build a brilliant future.

"This is the great responsibility of the nation, the elites and the authorities," he added.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the Islamic Republic could be distinguished from any previous systems dominating Iran in the past in that it converted individual authority into a system of national resolution.

"In God's favor, the national resolve led by Islam is helping materialize the aspirations of the nation. This chapter of the history of Iran must be treasured," Ayatollah Khamenei added.

The IR Leader described the Iranian nation as abundant in talents, adding that the nation could make up for the backward pages of its history, triggered by the past puppet regime's 200-year ruling, through further efforts and innovation.

"Hope that before a next generation comes to being, our youths would witness an Iran which reposes atop in civilization and grandeur so that all nations and world scientists and intellectuals feel a need to its science and culture. The situation could materialize indeed," the IR Leader added.

Fars province, home to a wealth of privileges (2008/05/07)

Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei instructed the authorities in charge of Fars provincial affairs Wednesday to set up a center in the province whose major aim is to grow up talented artists and promote a dedicated art which embodies religious teachings.

"Art stands as an aesthetic aspect of creation per se but could become a very significant phenomenon once embodying a religious essence," Ayatollah Khamenei told an assembly of executive officials in Fars province south Iran.

Ayatollah Khamenei described the people of Fras as talented and virtuous and appreciated them for offering many literary and historical personalities to the world. The IR Leader said the population unlike these great moral and historical traits shuns publicity but these must not cause the authorities to fail their undertaking of living up to the wealth of talents and utilizing it in the progress of the country.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the province is highly privileged for being place to the holy shrines of Ahmad ibn Moussa (S.A.) and several other descendants of the holy messenger of Allah, Hazrat Muhammad (S.A).

"Shiraz, after Mashhad and Qom ranks third among the shrine cities in Iran," Ayatollah Khamenei considered, adding that the national budget makers must earmark a special tranche of credits for the province with the aim of raising awareness about the sanctity of the area in home and abroad.

Ayatollah Khamenei also directed the relevant authorities to broaden their plans to boost tourism in the scenic, ancient province especially considering its tourism attractions including the holy shrines, the tombs of globally renowned men of letter like Sa'adi and Hafiz and other historical sites scattered in the province.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the pre-Islamic sites in the province could be treated from two distinctive different approaches.

"In one view, these sites belong to tyrants and despots of Iran's history and therefore they would lose luster in the eyes of the faithful. However, one must not write off the point that the historical sites either way are built by the dexterous hands, creative minds and magnanimous spirits of the Iranians. The realities cause one to take honor in Takht-e Jamshid (Throne of Jamshid) and other historical sites in Iran," Ayatollah Khamenei reckoned.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that at time when some countries were trying to fabricate historical heritage of their own, the authentic heritage of the Iranian nation was a source of confidence.

Ayatollah Khamenei noted that while the nation takes pride in its pre-Islamic heritage, the imagination of the Iranian nation actually flourished in the post-Islamic era.

"Researches show that the civilization, art and culture of the Iranian people four or five centuries after Islam was never comparable to those of the pre-Islamic era. The rise took place under the auspice of Islam," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

Ayatollah khamenei appreciated the people of the province for the hospitable welcome the accorded to him and expressed hope the local officials would procure and implement several ratifications made during the visit in a short time.

The IR Leader reminded the authorities that the opportunity to serve the people was a God's blessing which could be cherished by offering genuine and tireless efforts to the people and respecting them.

On the last day of his trip to Fars province, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei delivered a speech on Thursday to tens of thousands of faithful revolutionary people of Larestan County who had gathered in Takhti Stadium and the nearby streets. Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the presence of the American troops in Iraq and in the region as the reason behind the current insecurity and unrest, further reiterating: "Relying on Islam, the great Iranian nation will defend their interests, identity, and reputation as a unified front. Benefiting from the efforts and talents of our enthusiastic youth, our nation will achieve a high position in the world."

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that knowledge about the past paves the way for better understanding of the current issues and helps find appropriate ways in the future. His Eminence also touched upon the Islamic and anti-colonialist uprising of the people of Larestan, under the great Ayatollah Sayyid Abdul Hossein Lari, that took place more than 100 years ago. He added: "Under the leadership of the mujahid and knowledgeable clergy, the people of Larestan proved that one can triumph over the greatest and the most obstinate enemies through knowledge, courage, and insight. The Iranian nation put this effective lesson into practice during the Islamic Revolution."

Explaining the positive outcomes of the Revolution, the Supreme Leader stated: "At that time, the global powers thought that they had uprooted religion and religiousness in the world, especially in the Islamic countries. But having learned lessons from the past Islamic revolts and activities, the Iranian nation hoisted the flag of Islam and adherence to the Quran and Islamic principles. To the surprise of the world's bullying powers, the Iranian nation restored religiousness to human life."

Ayatollah Khamenei touched upon the increasing inclination of people towards religion and spirituality even in non-Islamic countries, further adding: "This reality is one of the outcomes of the great miracle that the Iranian nation performed through the Islamic Revolution and through presenting the world with a model for religion-based rule."

Referring to the prerequisites of the Iranian nation's powerful continuation of its movement, His Eminence described reliance on Islam as being of paramount importance. "Islam embodies freedom, independence, grandeur, general welfare, progress, and all blessings and goodness in this world and the hereafter. Therefore, reliance on Islam is the unique way of realizing the ideals of the nation," he said.

Ayatollah Khamenei described the unity of the Iranian nation, unanimity of Muslim nations, and cooperation among Islamic countries as absolute necessities. Referring to the efforts of the domineering powers to make the Persian Gulf states fear the Islamic Revolution, he said: "As it has declared since the beginning, the Islamic Republic believes in the Islamic unity from the bottom of its heart. Just like the past, the Islamic Republic extends the hand of friendship towards its neighbors."

His Eminence said that the Islamic Republic's insistence on unity in the Islamic world is not because it needs the neighbors. "Rather, it is all based on its deep Islamic beliefs," he said. He also added: "Unfortunately, the enemies sometimes succeed in their plots to foment schism in the Islamic world. However, in spite of all these machinations and the efforts of American and Zionist espionage systems, the Islamic Republic has good and friendly relations with the Arab and non-Arab states in the region and these relations are being boosted on a daily basis."

His Eminence described the spirit of brotherhood and cooperation among the Shia and Sunni Muslims of Larestan County as an exemplary model of unity among Muslims, further reiterating: "Different opinions, interpretations, and tastes should not undermine the unity and collective efforts of Shia and Sunni Muslims which are aimed at promoting monotheism, and actualizing the principles set by Islam and the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.)."

Ayatollah Khamenei described preventing Muslims nations from following the Islamic Republic model as the basic reason behind the enemies' threats and their political and economic propaganda - including the shameful writings of some of their mercenaries in the Arab media - and added: "The Iranian nation is the heart of the Islamic Ummah and the center of the great Islamic awakening and progress, and global bullying powers are worried about this increasing attention of the Islamic Ummah to this practical model."

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution said the only way to oppose the different plots of arrogant powers is increasing unity and nonstop efforts to make progress on all fronts in the country and added: "Of course the true nature of the policies of those who oppose Islam has been revealed to the people of the region, and the falsity of their claims has been proven."

His Eminence described the presence of the American forces in the Persian Gulf as a source of insecurity and further stated: "Security in the Persian Gulf should be provided by the governments of this region, and everyone should know that the period of the bullying powers' domination over other countries, canals and strategic regions is over."

Ayatollah Khamenei described the Americans' claims about providing security in Iraq as a blatant lie and stated: "As some of these Americans confessed they invaded the country for its oil reserves, and they are the greatest source of insecurity in the country due to their disregard of the Iraqi people's lives, principles, and pride."

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution later referred to the false accusations of the US regarding the role of Iran and other countries in the Iraqi insecurities, and reiterated: "The very presence of the American invaders would suffice to provoke to the Iraqi people. Therefore, the Americans are the main culprits in this issue."

His Eminence said the American's interference in the issue of Palestine and their support of the Zionist regime has made the Palestinian issue more complex and added: "The vigilant, noble, and broad-minded people of Palestine have elected their government and this elected government is now in charge, but the Americans are a barrier to peace in the country due to their unwarranted interference in Palestine and their support of the Zionists."

At the end of this part of the speech, Ayatollah Khamenei stressed: "Undoubtedly, the issues of Palestine and Iraq will be solved and will result in the disgrace of the Americans and the network of arrogance."

His Eminence referred to the final days of his trip to Fars province, and extending his sincere thanks to the people of this province, he said: "During this 9-day trip, the honorable people of Fars province treated me with utmost kindness and sincerity."

Islamic Ummah should materialize message of Mab'ath (2008/07/30 - 21:14)

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei called perseverance in all circumstances as the great lesson of the glorious Prophet's Mab'ath (the appointment of Prophet Mohammad as messenger by Allah).

"The great Iranian people by relying on this decisive lesson and by powerful attendance in the fields and arenas of confrontation or cooperation and dialog continue their bright way," stressed Ayatollah Khamenei in a meeting with the system's officials, different groups of people and the ambassadors of Islamic countries Wednesday morning.

Ayatollah Khamenei felicitated the Iranian people, the great Islamic Ummah and all seekers of right and freedom on the occasion of Mab'ath calling necessary the learning of lessons by the Islamic Ummah from Mab'ath as a glory memory of human history.

"Islam's great Prophet in the petrified and stone-like atmosphere of Jahilia (period of ignorance before the emergence of Islam) turned a society empty of science, justice and ethics into an exemplary society and government based on monotheism, science, justice, logic and ethics," added Ayatollah Khamenei.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution called resistance and firmness, deep knowledge and the Holy Prophet's adherence to Islam's path and goal as the most important factor for this strange and history-making change.

"The Prophet's perseverance, not fearing, not being greedy and not being deceived by the enemy's concessions caused the roots of perseverance, calm and confidence to strengthen in the hearts of the limited number of Muslims and that small number with their resistance against toughest circumstances including the very hard period of siege in Abi Talib Valley (near Mecca) to overcome the enemies and form an exemplary society," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

He termed adopting true stance toward progress as necessary but inefficient and said: "according to the divine tradition, trueness prevails when its followers show strength and resistance in all circumstances and situations."

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution called the true meaning of the Holy Quran's verse"Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and those with him are firm of heart against the unbelievers, compassionate among themselves..." as strength and steadfastness in all fields, pointing to the incidents of the Holy Prophet's life and said: "the Prophet of Islam was the symbol of strength in the battlefield and in time of dialog with the enemies was also full of strength and resistance."

He strongly advised people especially the youth to precisely study the all-lessons life of the Holy Prophet of Islam, adding: "Imam Khomeini by making use of this generous spring and following the Prophet's faith and resistance started the great Islamic Revolution and movement and Iran's great people in the light of his (Imam Khomeini's) perseverance entered the field and with God's help toppled one of the most dependent governments of the world and raised the flag of Islamic awareness in the very sensitive region of Middle East, and with their resistance spread the waves of Islamic awareness among nations."

Pointing to arrogant powers' enormous but failed effort to weaken the resistance of the Iranian people and the Islamic system, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution said: "Iran's great people, against the will of all bullying powers of the world still support the oppressed people of Palestine and strongly condemn the shameful and scandalous silence of the pretenders of freedom and human rights in front of the Zionists' injustice and daily crimes."

The IR Leader also said the American President George W. Bush's support for the murderer and terrorist Zionists is in brazen contradiction with his claim of support for freedom adding that "Iranian nation is awake and fully understands the facts."

Recalling bullying and ambitious nature of the world arrogance, Ayatollah Khamenei said, "Backing down one step in the face of the arrogance will encourage it to come one step forward. The idea, that retreatment and giving up right stances and words will make the arrogance change its policy, is totally wrong and baseless."

Ayatollah Khamenei called the word of monotheism and unity as the main message of the Iranian people's resistance, adding: "the Iranian people is only God's servant, not the servant of America, the arrogant powers and the Abu Jahls of the time."

Terming nuclear bomb producers and the ones threatening mankind's security and calm as "Abujahl" (ignorant persons) in today's world, Ayatollah Khamenei said, "The present time Abujahls (ignorant persons), who only look at their arms and roar like foolish hooligans, do know that Iranian nation pursues nuclear energy for electricity generation.

"They (the west) however claim that since such a work gives you power, we will not allow you to pursue it," IR Leader added.

Ayatollah Khamenei said Iranian nation's present capability, and regional influence and strength cannot be compared with the past.

"A bright horizon is ahead of dear Iran; we do know what we do and where we will get. We think that reaching to the point needs movement and perseverance and not standing idle or moving backward."

Ayatollah Khamenei said that today, Muslims should be wise enough and upgrade their knowledge standards and try to fully materialize the message of Mab'ath.

Imam of Age will reappear to rescue human community (2008/08/17 - 20:19)

Mid-Shabaan, the birthday of Hazrat Mahdi, the hidden Shii Imam and the eventual savior of the world, truly constitutes a day of hope in a bright and rosy future, Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei said Sunday.

Speaking to cultural counsellors, directors of Education Ministryand ordinary people, Ayatollah Khamenei congratulated the auspicious birth anniversary to all the faithful and free men in the world.

The twelfth Shii Imam currently lives in a state of occultation since 874 A.D. upon a Divine command and would reappear some day when God deems appropriate to administer justice throughout the world.

Ayatollah Khamenei said by the concept of Intizar-e Faraj (to wait for the Savior to reappear and tackle global problems) it was meant to preserve individual preparedness in every respect and advance the cause of justice.

The IR Leader noted that all religions, Divine or else, have carried the sort of glad tidings for justice-hungry human namely that an administrator of justice would come to rescue.

"The sort of glad tidings embodies the fact that the battle of truth and falsehood will culminate in favor of the forces of truth after Promised Mahdi reappears. That time, the human being would experience his favorable life," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that the notion of Intizar in Shiism is a reality instead of a false dream or a purely conceptual notion, adding that there are many evidence to prove that the deputy of God (Imam Mahdi) is a genuine man who has been living a Divinely-protracted life among other people and shares their grievances and woes.

"Intizar in true terms means to denounce the present bully status quo in the world and wait for a turnabout in the living conditions of the humanity at large."

"The Imam of Age will reappear to rescue human community and transform the present, whimsically-driven global unfair system into a fair system," Ayatollah Khamenei added.

Ayatollah Khamenei touched on the existence of over two billion starved people across the globe as well as the relentless pressures on the nations, adding that the Iranian nation which has hoisted the flag of justice endures pressures of superpowers. "The reality bears testimony to the fact that the bully-weary world has thirst for the breeze of justice."

"Intizar never connotes to sit idle-by and pin hope in the date of reappearance. Rather, an awaiting individual espouses the cause of justice like a warrior and prepares the ground for the emergence of the powerful, heavenly arm of the Imam of Age," the Islamic Revolution Leader said.

Ayatollah Khamenei described the emergence of the Islamic Republic as a prelude to the landmark, global movement, adding that the Iranian nation created an authentic ambience of Intizar by establishing the system and proved it was a standby follower for the awaited Imam.

Ayatollah Khamenei however alerted people to beware against those profiteers who abuse the notion of Intizar and fake connection with the Imam in quest of profits.

"It is likely that some pure-hearted individuals find the capacity to visit His Holiness. However, these individuals never relate their experience," Ayatollah Khamenei noted.

Ayatollah Khamenei also noted the audience that the tenets of Shiism were among the most rational ones, adding that the cultural associations in home and abroad must try to acquire a fine understanding of the tenets and duly convey them to other people.

The IR Leader also instructed the educationalists to train the heart and soul of the youth through shrewd, well-thought methods.

    • I think an important question that nobodies asked is what kind of relationship do you have with your sister?  If you're not super close and just come out of nowhere with all these rules shes going to rebel and your parents could get involved- telling you to stay out of it. If this happens- she might think its okay because her parents are defending her.  If you're not close, then maybe this is an opportunity to be. Try and be really open and non judgemental and find out why she doesn't wish to observe hijab. It may just be down to ignorance: she simply doesn't know its importance in islam. You'd be surprised what kind of interesting conversations you'd have.  My brothers beliefs are fairly different to mine and fairly often we have interesting discussions/debates about all kinds of topics. He's also very open minded so I feel reassurance/comfort if I ever need to ask advice or information about a certain topic.
    • Salaam, I have a difficult time finding things related to Sayed Khamenei on the internet-would you by chance be able to provide a link for the mentioned Q&A, in sha Allah? Thanks!
    • It's simple., One sect follows Islam as Allah swt and His Prophet (pbuh) wanted Muslims to follow while the other one is trying to tell Allah swt and the Prophet pbuh what they think should be part of Islam. So if you follow the former then you know you are on Haq and if you are following the latter then you are doomed. Allah swt states in Quran that only He appoints Caliphs. If you look at one sect they abide by it where as the other one have their own man-made Caliphs clearly against the Quran. It's really not that difficult.
