[FAQ] Keeping track of posts

Recommended Posts

Because ShiaChat.com is a busy site, it's often very hard to keep track of posts and be sure that you haven't missed anything.

New posts are usually pointed out with a small image right by the topic title. Forums with new messages that you haven't read also have a different image.

There are a few ways you can keep track of these new posts.

"Marking forum as READ"

There is a "Mark Forum as read" link on top (or bottom) of each forum. When you're done reading all the posts, simply click on that link and the forum will be marked as read and so will all the topics inside it (With it's "no new messages" icon). The second that a new post or topic is posted, the icons will change and you'll know exactly where the new posts/topics are by the way the icons look.

"Viewing new Posts"

Every time you come on to the forum you can click on "View new Posts" (On top). The forum will give you a list of new topics and posts since your last visit.

Note: You can also subscribe to a forum in a way where you get an email whenever someone posts into a topic you specify or a forum. Click on "Subscribe to forum/Topic" and you'll be automatically subscribed.

ShiaChat remembers what you have seen, so you can find new content when you return to the site. To view new posts in all the forums, click the "Unread Content" at the top of the homepage, which is highlighted in red on the image below. To mark all posts as read, click the "Mark site read" highlighted in green in the image:

To read your favorite forums, look for unread messages with the blue chat or conversation bubbles on the side. The forums that you have finished reading will have pale blue bubbles, as seen circled in blue below. The forums with unread posts will be bright blue, circled in red below:

    • I haven't seen a specific narration. It seems to be the reason some fuqaha have this ruling is because it comes under nahi an al munkar. Also, some fuqaha say all sins are punishable under the Islamic court - and this is done through ta'zir. And not wearing hijab would be a sin.
    • It is the best option. Even if it means having one less sin under your name, that means something in Islam. @notme they are much better for boys. Trust me I know from personal experience. If you were to be present in some of the conversations that boys have in the playground about girls you might faint lol
    • Bloomberg and aljazeera.com both reported 12 days ago that the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority sent a list with hundreds of names to lenders, telling them to freeze any accounts linked to them. Today (November 20, 2017) Reuters is reporting that over 2,000 bank accounts have been frozen.
    • Of course the story of Adam and Eve was much better suited for them. The Bible and the Quran are far from the only old cultures telling similar stories.
    • I don't think there's anything wrong with that at all. If she didn't want to marry him for whatever reason then that's her right. Now, if that reason was that he wasn't from the US then so be it. Her life, her choice.
