  1. Salaam brothers and sisters I have been debating with my friend lately as to why we don't eat Pork and meat that hasn't been slaughtered in the halal way. I showed him a lot of the reasons and scientific evidence out there, many which I got from the ShiaChat itself. However in the end he ended up saying that eating Pork or non halal meat hasn't ever negatively effected him or his family and friends. He continues to explain that his grandfather who's 70 is very healthy and fit, as well as how healthy he is (which is all true). So in that regard I unfortunately didn't know how to respond, so I was wondering, are there any other reasons out there? I really want to understand this myself to be honest. I also know that, even if Pork was supposedly healthy, we still wouldn't eat it because it doesn't have a neck. Thank you.
  2. Mum loves X factor

I just want an absolute answer. My mother loves watching X factor but I know if I tell her that it's haraam, she'll still watch it. She doesn't think it's haraam, "if you watch it sometimes". Is it really haraam? I've seen hadiths but they are not complete. I'm choosing to believe it's haraam. If it is, how can I stop my mum from watching her favorite show?
  3. Salam Alaikum everyone, I am in a very difficult situation, and I have no idea which direction I should go in so I am seeking advice (even if it's a harsh truth!) I will try to keep this short. I married my husband 7 years ago, we have one child. Three years ago I came to find out that he married another woman temporarily for a term of 8 years (they still have 5 years in their term). It shattered my whole world. I never thought he would do this to me, he lied originally about it to try to delay my feelings. When I first found out, I asked him ti leave her and he agreed. I thiught that was that and we moved on. A year after I found out that he had lied to me again, that he was still seeing her. I gave him another chance and actually accepted him being married to her on the condition that their relationship is strictly over the phone. He agrerd but I never fully trusted him, but thought it was what was best for our son at the time. I've recently come to realize that he is in fact seeing her in person still (surprise!) and broke down. I've cried nearly every day, and feel that my love to him is gone. He's promised to change and says he will only talk to her on the phone, but my heart can't trust him again. It's been very difficult not only on us but our son as well. It's come to the point that I have asked him for divorce, but he will not divorce me. My questions are, is anything he doing considered haram? Knowing that I will leave, is he obliged to divorce this other woman in order to save his permanent marriage? How can I go about getting a divorce from him? My biggest fear is that of losing my son (he is 3), what are the rules regarding him - who has primary custody? Thank you all for your time
  4. Lizard

S/W, Is the excreta(droppings) of a common house gecko(lizard) najis?
  5. Hand Sanitiser

Salam Is using Hand Sanitiser haram in Islam, as it contains concentrated (~60-70%) alcohol?
  6. Fourth rakat and surahs

Asalam o alakum Ali Is it haraam to recite a Surah after Surah Fatiha in the 4th rakat or is it just not needed(necessary). Is the prayer of a person valid who (out of ignorance) recites two surahs (fatiha and some other) in the 4th rakat ?
  7. Just like the title says thanks is advance
  8. SalaamA Hope you are well I was wondering if there are any Islamic Laws which say that selling fake (replica) products of real brands (Armani, Gucci, Lacoste...) haraam? I tell the buyer it is not an authentic product so I am not lying to him so if he wants to buy fake brands then is that income halal or not? Thanks in advance

Salaam brothers and sister. So I live in a western society like most of you, however as you may tell by the title this has to do with alcohol. So a few weeks earlier, I made a big, big mistake. I went into a bar for one. And secondly I drank alcohol. Knowing very good and well that it's haram and I know the effects of alcohol in the body, I.e. 30 days with no acceptance of prayers, can't hold the Quran etc. and the same day I did this I felt so bad it's killing me inside everyday I hate myself everyday for doing this to myself. I really, really wish I could repent by praying, but I know that my prayers wouldn't be accepted. Waiting 30 days for prayers is too long for me, unfortunately, I should have known better in that case.. Will Allah forgive me? I can't tell this to my family or anyone. People ask me why don't you pray when everyone else's praying I honestly feel smaller than an ant I don't know how to respond. I need help brothers and sisters. Any suggestions? god bless you all with a great New Years! Salaam.
  10. Haraam Attempt At Allah's Face!?

Watch until 3:27 (Viewer Discretion). What is up with that? They made a face out of Allah's Arabic name? Also, a similar shape is apparent on the copy of my Qu'ran. http://img2.imagesbn.com/p/9789694320007_p0_v1_s260x420.jpg In the very top-center of the vine-pattern, the vines curl together to form a shape quite like the one in the video. Can someone explain this to me?
  11. (bismillah) (salam) salam brothers and sisters,i am someone who has fallen in love with a girl, i want to know, is love haraam?if not, what is the haraam thing that could be avoided?Thank you (wasalam)
  12. I have been playing lot's of video games and they are retro games like from the 8/16 bit generations (NES/Master System, and SNES/Genesis) and some modern ones from the sixth and seventh generation of consoles. I know the NES and the Sega Master System have only a Programmable Sound Generator that outputs only square waves. Is really haraam for me to listen to video game music even if it is 8 or 16 bit even though they are computer generated tones. I know that the Super Nintendo's Sony SPC700 sound chip is PCM Sampled based so the game music uses some sampled instruments. I admit that I am addicted to NES, Genesis and SNES game soundtracks. What should I do? Are the NES game soundtrack less haraam than the Sega Genesis and SNES game soundtracks? Are all three still haraam despite the music being artificially generated by a sound generator and not using actual instruments?
  13. Salaam, brothers and sisters. I have a question I've been thinking long about and here it is. Is it haraam to look at female video game characters. For example in the Mario series, you have to go through levels collecting power ups and go through various castles to rescue a princess named Princess Peach. Some games have you play as female protagonists such as in the Metroid series where you have to play as a female galactic bounty hunter named Samus Aran who is in a Power Suit in where she is concealed in it and she has a visor where you can only see her face, am I allowed to look at her if she is in this Power Suit. I am a avid game player btw.
  14. Is music haraam? Do you listen to it? I remember a year or two, calling up a maulana and asking if listening to music during Ramadhan breaks a person's fast or not, and he said that it didn't... So that would mean it isn't haraam right? I know this topic is quite divided, but what is your opinion? Growing up in a house where my dad loved music, I have also grown to love it, but I'm not addicted to it.
  15. Fashion As A Career?

So I'm new to this and have stumbled across this website while google searching whether Fashion is haraam. Fashion has always bee something I liked, but I'm pulled between either fashion design or fashion promotion and communication (so using media and other mediums to advertise fashion more or less). And I'd researched all of this years back, an learned that it was okay as long as I was designing and creating modest clothing. But then last night I was listening to a lecture and this scholar/speaker was saying that abayas shouldn't be over embellished or different colours like green. And I was thinking whether this is actually true (like its written in the Quran or in a Hadith) or whether this was his opinion. And not just abaya but other clothing, like should it all be plain and have no embellishments but obviously loose fitting?
  16. Mutah is haraam because they believe Umar has more authority than the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and can delcare what the Prophet (pbuh) said is halal as haraam, but at the same time believe Misyar, which is essentially having a f*** buddy you don't live with and have no financial obliations to, is halal. Go ahead Bakris, try and invent reasons why Misyar is halal but Mutah is haraam.
  17. Salaam, Can anyone please let me know some of the rules we're supposed to follow in the mourning period of Muharram (First ten days, then Ashura to Eid A Zehra). I already know most of them but I want to see what you guys do. Also, is hanging out with friends allowed? Answers will be appreciated.
  18. This is an interesting video i came across from Baba Ali: "One thing i always find funny is how people take so much pride in things such as race and color. But what did we do to be proud of it? You can "oh I was born in this country!!!!" , but why do think you deserve credit for that... others say "I was born into this family"... but what did you do to be proud of those achievements of your culture or ethnicity? The truth is you didnt have a choice over any of those things, it just happened. You did nothing to gain your race, your family, or the color of your skin. Isn't it very stupid to have so much pride in something you have no choice over. So why are people so much attached to those factors to the point where they put it before Islam?" Quran-49:13 "oh mandkind, we have created you from a male and female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know one another..." we have people that claim to be Muslims, but instead follow their cultures and claim they are following Islam, but are really just following their own culture. This is one of the reasons for the sad state of the Ummah today" This attachment to our cultur over Islam is what divides the world today. It has come to the point where we hate eachother. I mean, we always blame westerners for being racist, but we ignore the fact that we are the most racist people of all. I hate to point it out, but middle easterners, Pakistanis, and Persians are the worst offenders. They constantly talk about how they are superior. I mean, how often have you heard Persians calling themselves "pure Aryans" and claiming their ancestors were "blond haired, blue eyed nordic", saying how much they hate Afghans and Arabs. Or Arabs saying they are pure Semetic and talking about "impure African/Asiastic blood" and Pakistanis saying they are 100% non- Indian. Though your culture may have made great advancements and achievements in the past, what have you done to claim their achoievements as your own, other than being born into the same race? How much will your culture or how much you did to support it help you on the day of judgement?
