  8. Salam everyone, I am currently learning arabic but I am having problem understanding these sentences they are most commonly used i arabic latmiya that i have heard in Karbala and other cities of Iraq : 1, يا عباس جيب الماي لسكينة 2, ها الله هاالله حسين وينة باالسيوف مقطعينة 3, قطعة و يمين العباس يا فاطمة الحزينة 4, واويل علي العباس 5, What is the meaning of هلابيك, يمة , ها الله 6, يا عباس دخيلك 7, هية وحدة من الثنين لو جهنم لو حسين 8, يا عباس اركب بنفسي انت با اخي
  9. Hello, I have a question. So I have an issue in my life and have been advised to read surah Yasin 40 times for my troubles to be fixed. I agreed to do it and started to read. My problem is that I dont speak arabic and can barely read it. After some practice through the years I am able to 'read' it...as in I know the alphabet and how it works and can sound it out....but I am really bad at it. For example it can take me a full minute or two to read a line. Not only am I veryyyyy brutally slow, I also make mistakes, and I also dont understand it - Like I have no idea what I am saying! After a gruelling 3 times of reading it in arabic (and it took me an hour each time to read something that takes people 10 minutes to read!) I got really frustrated and stopped. It literally has no meaning for me and I felt it was useless. Then I decided to read the english translation of it and thought wow! how beautiful! Got Chills! So now I am wondering if I could just read it 40 times in english? would that 'count'? Or does it *need* to be read in arabic? My reasoning is: - It takes forever to read it - I am probably making a million mistakes and dont even know it - I don't understand anything I am reading - if I am going to go through all of that should I not at least LEARN something from it? I feel I can LEARN the message of the Quran by reading this over and over (it is the heart of the quran!). But if I read it in arabic it literally does nothing for me aside from give me a really big headache. SO what do you guys think? Can I just read it in English? Or does it HAVE to be in arabic for it to 'count' ? :/

  12. bismihi ta'ala assalamu alaykum, In case someone doesn't know, Tafsir Al-Mizan is a momentous exegetical work written by Allama Muhammad Hussain Al-Tabatabaei (ra), the great philosopher. His work consisted of 20 volumes which he wrote in Arabic, and the style of his Tafsir was Ijtihadi - a commentary of the Qur'an by the Qur'an, this work took him twenty years to complete. Syed Sa'eed Akhtar Rizvi had taken the task of translating this work upon himself and had translated up until volume 12 (which corresponds with about volume 6 of the Arabic) and had begun translating volume 13 when he died about a decade ago. Since then there have been new projects which have started translating the work again but Syed Rizvi's work remained incomplete until his son, Syed Muhammad Rizvi, completed volume 13 (corresponding to the first half of volume 7 of the Arabic). It is being published at the moment however is available online (on the publisher's website) for downloading as a free PDF along with the rest of the book. http://www.wofis.com/Publications.aspx?bookID=8&partID=57 May Allah bless the souls of Allama Al-Tabatabaei and Syed Sa'eed Akhtar Rizvi, and give a long life to Syed Muhammad Rizvi. wa assalam
  13. Salam, I have taken an interest in the Shia way of Islam and learning about it has brought back my faith (I come from a Sunni background). However, in the process I feel a bit lost and don't know where to turn, it would be nice to meet some sisters so I have some guidance on some of my questions. I have gone to some gatherings but they are mainly in Farsi, and I feel very left out attending! Are there any other sisters in London facing the same thing? Thank you :)

    The Infallible And The Text

Dedication To the martyrs of the Islamic Resistance and to its devoted warriors who were not allured by the materialistic ‘method’ but led by reason towards the vastness of the unsee n, towards the school of “ But I cast love over thee from Me and in order that thou mayest be reared under Mine eye ”. To those men and women who have engaged much in God 's praise, to the strangers whose hearts have been ove rwhelmed with divine words, to the knowers whose faith has n ot been distorted by materialism nor the fantasies of Sufis . To those who are the true pioneers of the practical aspect of the rational method and its true embodiment, the me thod of the unseen. To them I am honoured to present these words. Huss ai n K awran i. http://www.saraer.org/books/files/the_infallible/the_infallible_and_the_text.pdf Classical Hawzawi approach.

  23. (bismillah) Hello fellow brothers and sisters. I am currently thinking of translating Islamic books from Arabic to English. My native language is arabic, however, it is weak but I'm fluent in English. I want to balance these two languages and learn at the same time and help our community. The question is, what books can you suggest for translating that no-one else is actually currently translating? It does not matter if I have to buy the book because when I return to my homeland, I could hopefully buy the books and begin translating. Please not gigantic books like al burhan fee tafseer al quran XD! I was thinking of mantiq al mudhaffir. Looking forward to your suggestions, thanks! (wasalam)

    Hats Off Aljazeera!

(bismillah) (salam) So, Al Jazeera English had recently aired a documentary entitled "Sheikh Jarrah: My neighbourhood" and I must say, "Hats off Al Jazeera" because of the quality of the documentary. I know that some people may not look at the channel as the most objective news channel but if anyone else watched it, you have to concede that they were very, very objective and very pro-Palestinian at that. They literally blew Israel by showing that amount of oppression they are doing by creating the settlements in East Jerusalem. The documentary clearly showed that the settlements are illegal according to international laws and they gave almost a all-Palestinian view on the issue. The only Israelis they did interview were, perhaps, the most extreme of them and the statements they made, rather than improve the image of Israel, made Israel look much more of a terrorist state. I absolutely loved the video and whatever one says, at least on this issue, I have found Al Jazeera very good, not supporting Israel in anyway, being even better than BBC (I mentioned BBC because some look upon it as very objective and I wanted to show that Al Jazeera was way better than even BBC)!
  25. (bismillah) Salams all, Hope everyone is well. Id like to start with condoling all the believers on the tragic martyrdom anniversary of Sayeda Fatima (sa), may God hasten the reappearance of his final Hujjah and present khalifa of the earth to avenge the blood of her family. Im not sure about recently, but ever since i've been active on shiachat, every so often a topic about hawza and hawza opportunities is made. Recently i received an email about an opportunity to study the first year basic studies of hawza in english as a tester for those considering joining the seminary. It seems like a good idea for those who want to get their feet wet before they jump in the pool. This way the most is made out of the first year of hawza without having to go through the sometimes painful process of learning farsi or arabic first. This can be especially desirable for those who want to take a gap year from uni and open up their doors. anyways, i dont know details, but read the message and email the organisers if need be. Dont mind the cheesy email, its all ligit lol
