  13. RTS article: Eid al-Adha "Festival of the Sacrifice" Salam. Bismillahir Rahmaanir Raheem, May the Peace and Blessings of Allah (swt) be upon Prophet Muahmmad (saw) and his pure family (a.s). Eid Al-Adha "Festival of the Sacrifice", is celebrated worldwide each year. It marks the end of the annual Hajj to Mecca. In the Islamic lunar calendar, it falls on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah. It honors the willingness of Prophet Ibraheem (a.s) to sacrifice his son Ishmael (a.s), as an act of submission to God's command, before God then intervened sending his angel Jibraeel (a.s) and informs him that his sacrifice has already been accepted. 14. first wanna ask if shia have Eid adha on same day as sunnis in 12 septamber ? , second Eid Mubarak third , what's is the moral behind sacrificing animal ? I know the Ismael/abrham story , but I don't understand why have to keep carrying on this tradition of slaughtering an animal every Eid ? also muslims of india always get in trouble with the hindus and it create hatred among both communities when muslims slaughter cows in Eid al adha , should muslims take hindus feeling into consideration and not kill cows !! as for this practice is it sunnah or fard !

The Moon-Sighting Committee of the Council of Shia Muslim Scholars of North America announces that Saturday, July 18, 2015 will be the first day of the month of Shawwal, 1436, for the entire region of North America.

This is based on no reports of verified sightings of the crescent moon at sunset on Thursday, July 16, 2015, in any region in North America. Thus, Friday is considered the last day of Ramadan.

We ask Allah (swt) to accept our fasting and good deeds during the holy month and to hasten the Return of Our Master, Imam Mahdi (ajfs). The Crescent Committee:
• Sayyid Muhammad Rizvi, Toronto, Canada.

  18. I give salutations and congratulations upon all of mankind for the mark of the appointment of Imam Ali A.S commanded by Allah swt. I pray for the best of mankind, for our piety and closeness to Allah to increase, for the injustice to rid of this world, and for the arrival of Imam Mahdi A.S. Please do the same, eltimas e dua. I highly suggest you all fast. (wasalam) On 18th Zilhijjah of the year 10 A.H. (10 March 632 CE) ,after completing the last pilgrimage ,the Holy Prophet (pbuh) along with around 100,000 Muslims reached a place called 'Ghadir-e-khumm' near Mecca. The following verse was revealed :Quran 5:67] O Messenger! deliver what bas been revealed to you from your Lord; and if you do it not, then you have not delivered His message, and Allah will protect you from the people; surely Allah will not guide the unbelieving people. On receiving the above verse, the Holy Prophet stopped at that very place & delivered a speech an extract of which is :-[....It seems the time has approached when I shall be called away (by Allah) and I shall answer that call. I am leaving for you two precious things and if you adhere to them both, you will never go astray after me. They are the Book of Allah and my Progeny, that is my Ahlul Bayt. The two shall never separate from each other until they come to me by the Pool (of Paradise)." Then the Holy Prophet (pbuh) in an attempt to remind Muslims of his own authority over them said: " Do I not have more right over the believers than what they have over themselves? " Muslims answered unanimously " Yes, O' Messenger of God ". This served as a stepping stone for the announcement of his heir and vicegerent. The Holy Prophet(pbuh) held out the hand of Ali(as) and said: " For whoever I am his Leader (mawla), 'Ali is his Leader (mawla)." The Holy Prophet then continued to say: " O' God, love those who love him, and be hostile to those who are hostile to him."] .. http://duas.org/ghadir.htm Just a few amaal: Imam Ali Ibn Moosa Ar Reza (a.s.) said: "It is highly rewarding to be in Najaf Iraq today for performing the Ziyarat of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (A.S.). Give Alms today as much as you can, in the name of Allah, to the less fortunate, because, the "day of Ghadeer" is particularly specified for helping deserving people." We can give expression to our joy and happiness in a suitable manner keeping in view the life style the tenets of Islam. It is highly desirable to make the believers (Momineen) happy. to do favours to relatives, to give gifts, and invite friends and relatives to eat meals together, forgive mistakes etc. Recite salwaat "Allahuma salle alaa Mohammad wa Aale Mohammad " اللّهُمّ صَلّ عَلَى مُحَمّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمّدٍ بِهِ.'O Allah, send blessings on Muhammad and his household'. Do Istighfaar (seeking forgiveness from the Almighty)as many times as possible. (1) Have a Ghusl /bath, put on new or clean clothes and apply perfume (2) Observe fast. (Fasting on the Day of Ghadir is equivalent to fasting the time span of the (existence of the) entire world-A hadith ) (3) Recite Ziarats of Imam Ali ibne Abi Talib (as) i) Special Ghadir day Ziarat ( which contains a full overview of events in his life !) (ii) Ziarat Ameenallah & (iii) Ziarat Mut'laqah (4) Recite Dua'a Nudbah (5) Pray a 2 Raka't Salaat. before/near noon time , as under: In the first Rakat recite Sura Qadr after Sura Fatihah & in the second Rakat recite Sura Ikhlass after Sura Fatihah After Salaam -Go into Sajdah and say 100 times: 'SHUKRAN LILLAAH ' -Then sit and recite the dua'a "Allamumma inni asaloka be anna lakal hamda wahdaka..(click here given below). -Then go into Sajdah and recite :'ALHAMDU LILLAH '100 times & 'SHUKRAN LILLAH '100 times A Hadith says 'One who does this a'mal today is entitled to receive the reward of a person who was present at Ghadeer, had heard the declaration, and accepted it as true'. Sayed Modarassi states: #RecommendedOnEidGhadir: To fast. It equates to fasting "an aeon". It is narrated it washes the sins of 60 years and equals 100 Hajj/Umras! #RecommendedOnEidGhadir: To give charity, for every coin equals a million coins given on other days, for it is "the greatest day of all" #RecommendedOnEidGhadir: To invite believers over a meal as "feeding a believer in the day of #Ghadeer equates to feeding all the Prophets"!
  19. Hello and eid mubarak whenever your eid is. When is eid for followers of Imam Khomeini in north america?
  20. Zakat Al-Fitrah Qa

(salam) Eid Mubarak to all of you inshAllah, may Allah forgive our sins and accept our prayers. In case somebody forgot, or has questions, I'm leaving this here: (wasalam) The numbered rulings are according to the fatawa of Ayatullah Al-Udhma Seyyid Ali Al-Husaini Seestani, Dama Dhilluhu The rulings in brackets are according to the fatawa of Ayatullah Al-Udhma Seyyid Abulqassim Al-Khui, Ridhwanullahi Alayhi Payment of fitrah becomes wajib (obligatory) after sunset on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr on a person who is baligh (attained puberty), aqil (sane), and is neither needy, nor indigent nor unconscious for himself and all his dependants wherever and whoever they are. For the purpose of fitrah, dependants include guests who are present at the host’s house at the time of sunset on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr. However, if a guest comes without the consent of the host, his fitrah becomes wajib upon the host on the basis of ehtiyat wajib (obligatory precaution). This ruling also applies to a person who is forcibly made to maintain another person. The fitrah of a guest arriving after sunset even if he was invited earlier is not upon the host, unless he is a dependant of the host. (Ehtiyat Mustahab to pay for uninvited guest or one forcibly maintained.) Fitrah should be given from wheat, barley, raisins, rice or millet or its cash value at the rate of one sa’a (about 3 kg.) per head. On the basis of obligatory precaution (ehtiyat wajib), one should not give fitrah from that food which is not staple in his place, even if it be wheat, barley, dates or raisins. (Staple food has not been made a condition). Fitrah is given to a needy person who, according to the shari’a is a faqeer, that is, a person who is not able to meet his living expenses for himself and for his dependants for one whole year, nor does he possess the means to earn a livelihood for himself and his dependants. It is ehtiyat wajib that the fitrah is given to a faqeer who is a Shia Ithna-Asheri. (Ehtiyat Mustahab to give to a Shia Ithna-Asheri Faqeer.) Note: The faqeer to whom fitrah is given need not necessarily be adil, but it is ehtiyat wajib that fitrah should not be given to a person who drinks liquor, or one who does not perform his daily salaat or one who commits sins openly or one who will use the fitrah in a sinful way. A non-Seyyid cannot give fitrah to a Seyyid even if he maintains a Seyyid and pays his fitrah. It is ehtiyat mustahab (recommended precaution) that a faqeer be given a minimum of one full fitrah. More can be given to one person also. (Ehtiyat Wajib to give a minimum of one full fitrah to a person). If a servant is employed on the condition that the employer will pay all his expenses, then the servant’s fitrah becomes wajib upon the employer. But if the condition is the payment of the salary only, then his fitrah is not wajib upon the employer. If the price of one type of grain is double that of the other, one cannot give half the measure of the better grain nor its cash value as fitrah. It is recommended to give preference to one’s relatives when giving fitrah, then to the neighbors and then ahlul ilm (people of learning). Preference, however, can be given to another category of people if there is a good reason to do so. For those who pray Salatul Eid, it is ehtiyat wajib to give the fitrah before the Eid prayers and for those not praying Salatul Eid the time extends up to before Dhuhr. If fitrah is set aside but not distributed by Dhuhr, then whenever it is disbursed, the niyyah (intention) of fitrah should be made. If one does not give out or set aside the fitrah within the due time, he should give the fitrah later, on the basis of precaution, without making the niyyah of adaa or qadhaa but only qurbatan Ilallah. An item set aside for fitrah cannot be used or substituted by another item. On the basis of ehtiyat wajib, fitrah should not be sent outside the town one resides in if there are deserving people in that town. If one does so and the fitrah gets spoiled or lost then it must be given again. Fitrah cannot be given before the month of Ramadhan and it is better not to give it during the month of Ramadhan. However, if a loan was given to a person who deserves to receive fitrah, then when the fitrah becomes due that amount can be set off against the fitrah. If fitrah is given from a thing which is inferior or defective, it will not be sufficient. FAQ on Zakatul Fitrah (According to Fataawa of Ayatullah Sayyid Ali al-Husayni Seestani) Q. What is Zakatul Fitrah? A: It is religious tax/alms (zakat) paid on the day when Muslims break the fasting period at the end of the month of Ramadhan. This alms is known as Zakat al-Fitrah. Q. What do the Qur'an and Hadith say about Fitrah? A: Imams (a) say that the verses: Indeed whosoever purifies himself shall achieve success, and glorifies the Name of his Lord and prays (87:14 & 15) refer to giving of Fitrah and saying prayers on Eid al-Fitr. Imam Ja`far as- Sadiq (a) said: for your fast to be accepted, give zakât. Q. When does Fitrah become wajib? A. Payment of Fitrah becomes obligatory after sunset on the eve of Eid al- Fitr. The Fitrah should be kept aside and paid on Eid al-Fitr before Eid prayers or before midday for those who cannot say their Eid prayers. It is necessary to have obligatory intention (niyyah) of giving Fitrah for God's pleasure only. Q. What happens if someone forgets or does not give Fitrah on time? A. If one does not give out or set aside the Fitrah within the due time, he should give the Fitrah later, on the basis of precaution, without making the niyyah of adaa or qadhaa but only Qurbatan Ilallah. Q. Can we give Fitrah in advance? A. Giving Fitrah before the eve of Eid al-Fitr is not permissible. However, if you wish to send Fitrah earlier so that it reaches the needy on time, then you can send it as a temporary loan to the needy and then change your intention from loan to Fitrah on the eve of Eid al-Fitr. Q. To whom is Fitrah obligatory? A. Paying Fitrah is obligatory on every Muslim who is mature (baligh), sane, financially able, and conscious on the eve of Eid al-Fitr. Fitrah should also be paid on behalf of all dependents (e.g. wife, children) whom one supports financially. Q. When is a host required to pay Fitrah for his guest? A. If a person invites another person to his house on the eve of Eid al-Fitr and if the guest is present at the host's place at the time of the sunset then it is obligatory for the host to pay Fitrah for his guest. Q. What happens if the guest arrives after the sunset on Eid night? A. In this case the guest will pay his/her own Fitrah and it is not obligatory on the host to pay Fitrah for the guest. Q. What happens if a guest comes uninvited and is present at the time of the sunset on the eve of Eid al-Fitr? A. Ayatullah Sayyid As-Sistani says that the host should still pay the Fitrah as an obligatory precaution. However, Marhum Ayatullah Sayyid al-Khui was of the opinion that is recommended for the host to pay Fitrah of an uninvited guest. Q. How much should we pay for Fitrah? A. Fitrah for a person is given on a weight of three kilograms (one sa`a) on any food commodity like wheat, barley, rice, millet, raisins or dates. Ayatullah Seestani is of the opinion that the item that is not a staple food in your town should not be given in Fitrah. Say, for example, if millet is not a staple in Vancouver then Vacouver mumineen should not pay Fitrah on millet. Q. Can we give cash value of any commodity mentioned above? A. Yes, cash value in lieu of any foodstuff mentioned can be given as Fitrah. Thus, if a kilo of rice costs $2.00, the cash value of Fitrah on rice per person would be $6.00. We recommend, Fitrah on basmati rice to be Canadian Dollars 7.00 for residents of Canada and US Dollars 6.00 for US residents. (Please check prices for other items in your areas.) Q. Whom should we give the Fitrah to? A. It is given to the needy who are unable to meet their own or their dependants annual living expenses, nor do they have the means to do so through earning. Ayatullah As-Seestani says that the needy who is given the fitrah must be a Shi`ah Ithna `Ashari. Q. Who should not be given the Fitrah? A. A needy who: consumes alcohol, does not say his daily prayers (salat), commits sins openly, or he who is known to use the Fitrah in sinful way. Q. Are there any additional rules that we need to be aware of? A. Following are some important rules: (i) Fitrah should not be sent outside the town one resides in, if there are deserving mumineen in that town. (ii) Fitrah from a non-Sayyid cannot be given to a needy Sayyid; the reverse is permissible. (iii) A needy should be given at least one Fitrah (iv) Amongst the needy, relatives should be preferred over others when giving Fitrah, next in line are neighbors and then the learned.
  21. WHY CELEBRATE EID E ZAHRA (SA) Al-Sayed ibn Tawoos writes in the book, 'Zawaa'id al-Fawaa'id' that Ibn Abi Alaa Al-Hamadani al-Waasiti and Yahya ibn Mohammad bin Huwaij Al-Baghdadi said: We were quarreling about ibn Al-Khattab (Omar) and we became uncertain about him, so we travelled to Ahmad bin Isaac al-Qummi (Imam Hassan Al-Askari's companion) in Qum. We knocked on his door, and a young Iraqi girl opened. We asked to see Ahmad bin Isaac, to which she replied, "He is busy with his festival (eid), for it is a day of celebration" I said, "Praise be to Allah! The Shia festivals are four; Al-Fitr, Al-Ad'ha, Al-Ghadeer and Jomaa". She said, "Ahmad bin Isaac narrates from his master Abul Hassan, Ali bin Mohammad Al-Askari, that this day is a day of Eid, and it is in fact the most blessed of Eids for Ahlul Bayt and their followers" We then told her to inform him of our presence and seek permission for us to enter. FOR MORE ARTICLES CLICK HERE Ahmad bin Isaac came to greet us dressed in a loincloth and perfumed with musk. We criticized his action, to which he replied, "Don’t worry, for I have just done ritual ghusl for Day of Eid”. We said, “Is it a day of Eid?” He replied in the affirmative. It was the 9th of Rabi al-Awwal. He invited us in and when we were seated he said, “I went to visit my Master Abu al-Hassan in Samarra on the same day as this, 9th Rabi al-Awwal. He instructed all his servants to wear new clothes, and he was burning scented wood an incense pot. I said to him, “May our fathers and mothers be a sacrifice for you! O son of the Messenger of Allah! has a day of celebration been renewed for Ahlul Bayt today?” He said, “Is there a more sacred day for Ahlul bayt than this day, 9th Rabi Al-Awwal? My father narrated to me that, on this day Huthaifa bin Al-Yamani went to visit my grandfather, the Messenger of Allah (saw) . Huthaifa said, “I saw Ameerul Moumineen and his children eating with the Prophet (saw). The Prophet (saw) was looking at their faces, smiling and saying to Al-Hassan and Al-Hussain, ‘Eat! Eat! enjoy the blessings and felicities of this day!, for it is the day that Allah will destroy His enemy, and the enemy of your grandfather; It is the day Allah will accept the deeds of your followers and lovers; It is the day the Divine words of Allah will be realized, ‘See, yonder are their dwellings empty and in ruins because they did wrong’ (27:52) It is the day the pharaoh of Ahlul bayt will be annihilated, their oppressor and the usurper of their rights; It is the day Allah will proceed to what they have done of deeds, and He will render them as scattered floating dust’. I said, “O Messenger of Allah! Is there from amongst your nation and companions, he who will violate these sanctities?” The Prophet said, “Yes Huthaifa, A tyrant from amongst the hypocrites. He will rule over them in a swaggering dictatorial manner and use deceit amongst my Ummah. He will bar the people from following the path of Allah and distort His Book and change my Sunnah. He will usurp my children’s inheritance and appoint himself as an authority. He will have the audacity to attack his Imam after me and will seize the people’s wealth in a way not prescribed and will squander it disobediently. He will belie me and belie my brother and vizier. His will enviously appropriate my daughter’s rights. She will invoke God, and He will answer her prayers on a day like this”. Huthaifa said, “O Messenger of Allah, invoke Allah to destroy him in your life time” The Messenger of Allah said, “Huthaifa, I loathe challenging the decree of Allah, although I have asked Allah to give virtue to the day on which he perishes over all days, so that it becomes a practice observed by my loved ones and followers of my Ahlul bayt. Whereupon Allah, the Exalted, revealed to me saying, “O Mohammad! You and your Ahlul Bayt will be afflicted with worldly calamities and adversities, also the oppression of the hypocrites and usurpers from amongst My servants whom you counseled, only to be betrayed by them. You were sincere towards them, yet they deceived you; you showed them kindness and they drove you away.. I will, by My power and might, open 1000 doors of hellfire from the lowest pits of hell and cast therein those who usurp the rights of your brother Ali. I will make an example of that hypocrite on the Day of Judgment, and like the pharaohs of all the prophets and the enemies of the religion, I will gather them and their companions in the Hellfire and therein they will abide eternally. O Mohammad! Your vicegerent and companion will suffer much affliction from this pharaoh and usurper who will have the audacity to alter My words. He will associate with me a partner and avert people from My path. He will erect himself as the Golden Cow of your ummah and disbelieve in me. I have commanded My angels in the seven heavens, your Shia and adorers to celebrate the day I annihilated him on. And I have ordered My angels to praise Me and seek forgiveness for your Shia and adorers. O Mohammad! And I have asked the Honorable Scribes (Al-Kiraam Al-Kaatibeen) to lift the Pen on that day and not to write any of my creations errors in honor of you and your vicegerent. O Mohammad! I have made that day a day of eid for you and your Ahlul Bayt and their followers and Shia. I vow by My Glory and Magnificence that I will favor the one who celebrates that day with the rewards of the (angels) surrounding (the throne), and I will give him permission to intercede for close kin, and I will increase his wealth. And I will free, every year, on that day, thousands of your Shia, adorers and followers from the fires of hell and recompense their striving, forgive their sins and accept their deeds. Huthaifa said, “the Prophet then stood and entered the house of Um Salama, and I left with no doubts in my mind about the second (omar). And I saw him after the death of the Prophet facilitate evil, disbelieve and apostatize, embark on the seat of authority (caliphate), manipulate the Quran, burn the House of Revelation (Fatima’s), innovate in the sunnah, reject the testimony of Ameerul Moumineen, belie Fatima - the daughter of the Messenger, usurp Fadak from her, satisfy the Jews, Christians and Majoos, and annoyed the apple of the Moustafa’s eye – never ever satisfying her. He changed the traditions and lay the groundwork for the killing of Ameerul Moumineen. He manifested injustice, prohibited what Allah had made permissible and made permissible what Allah had prohibited, slapped the face of Al-Zakiyya (Fatima), and oppressively and offensively ascended the pulpit of the Prophet, slandered Ameerul moumineen and opposed and nullified his opinion”. Huthaifa said, “Allah answered the prayers of my master (Imam Ali) in relation to this hypocrite, and he was killed at the hands of (Abu Lulu) he who killed him, may Allah have mercy on his soul”. Huthaifa continues, “I visited Ameerul Moumineen to pass on my felicities when that munafiq was killed and he said, ‘O Huthaifa, do you remember that day when you visited the Messenger of Allah when his grandchildren and I were eating with him and he pointed out to you the excellence of this day’” I said, “Yes, dear brother of the Messenger of Allah” He then said, “By Allah! Today is that day – the day Allah satisfied the children of the Messenger, and I am aware of many names for this day” I asked, “O Prince of the Faithful, I would love to hear from you the names for this day – 9th rabi al-awwal” The Imam said, “It is the day of respite, the day of relief from distress and agony, it is a second Ghadir, it is the removal of burden, it is the day of favoritism and the lifting of the pen, the day of hady (gift) and aqiqa, the day of blessing, the day of vengeance. It is the Great Eid of Allah and the day supplications are answered, the day of great standing, the day of turning back, the day of provision, the day erected walls are demolished, the day of regret for the oppressors, the day of victory for the Shia, the day worries are expelled, the day of triumph, the day of submission the day of power, the day of pardon, the day of jubilance for the Shia, the day of reflection, the day of great charity, the second Fitr, the day of Allah’s path, the day of contentment, the day of Eid for Ahlul Bayt, the day of victory for Bani Israel, the day Allah accepted the deeds of the Shia, the day of providing sadaqah, the day of asking for an increase, the day the hypocrite is killed, the day of reckoning, the day of Ahlul Bayt’s cheerfulness, the day that is witnessed, the day the oppressor will bite his hands, the day misguidance will be demolished, the day of accomplishment, the day of witnessing, the day of pardon for the faithful, the day of (ALMUSTATAAB), the day the authority of the munafiq departs, the day of settlement, the day the faithful relaxes, the day of Mubahila, the day of boasting, the day of thankfulness, the day victory for the oppressed, the day of visitation, the day of love, the day innovations are exposed, the day of piety, the day of exhortation, the day of worship, the day of Islam…” Huthaifa said, “I got up and left Ameerul Moumineen, saying to myself, ‘If I do not succeed in achieving rewards for deeds other than those rewarded for this day, I would be satisfied” Mohammad bin Abi Al-alaa and Yahya bin jareeh said, “Each of us got up and kissed the forehead of Isaac and said, ‘Praised be the Lord for not taking our souls before honoring us with this blessed day – and we left his place and celebrated that day, and it is the Eid of the Shia” ( REF : Beharul Anwar v95 pg 351)
  22. Salam aleikum, Is it me or the usual "What day is Eid in Switzerland for Sistani followers", "What you doing this Eid", or just the avalanche of Eid Greetings has disappeared from SC ? Back a few years ago, the eve of Eid was like full of electricity on the forums, people asking lots of questions, who is celebrating with who, posting pics of their moms' Eid dishes etc... Aren't we interested in this aspect of religion anymore, or rather are we more and more focused on fitna and politics ? :donno: Anyway, Eid Mubarak to everyone !! May Allah bless you and your families and I hope one day we will meet around jabal Arafat ! :D
  23. AOA brothers and sisters Eid ul Azha is coming. Before I buy an animal and give my family for sacrifice in Pakistan, I have a question. Can I donate this money to hospital for needy patients ? There are several trustworthy NGOs in Pakistan like Edhi and Shakat Khanam where I would like to donate my sacrifice. Please guide with references from Aalims and Mujtahideens. Thanks Zaheer
