  1. Hijr ibn Adi Al Kindi was a pious man who stood for justice and fought oppression alongside the Holy Prophet of Islam and Imam Ali (as). Hijr ibn Adi and his son were killed in 660 CE by Muawiya ibn Abu Sufyan because of their unwavering loyalty to Imam Ali (as). Today, Muslims travel far and wide to this burial site to pay their respects to Hijr ibn Adi. However, since the conflict began in Syria, pilgrimages to sacred shrines across the country have halted including the ability to exercise rights and freedoms. I would like to condemns the alleged vandalism of the resting place of Hijr ibn Adi and is appalled by this hateful attack carried out by the perpetrators. Islam is a religion of peace and respect where the life of every human being, regardless of faith, race, culture or gender is held sacred. Regardless of religious identity or ideology, we must make sure of the protection of one and all. Therefore no one cannot accept the violation of any burial site, religious property or holy shrine and demands that every effort be made to bring these perpetrators to justice. As such these crimes may go to highlight the grievances of minorities inside Syria. Furthermore, let's use the best endeavours to protest against these callous and heartless acts.Let us come together as one global voice to peacefully denounce such atrocious behaviors and crimes against humanity.

  3. US forces rape women in northern Afghanistan village , during Night RaidJNN 06 Dec 2012 Kabul : The residents of a village in northern Afghanistan say American troopers raped several women during a nighttime raid in the rural community. The locals said that the incident took place in a village in the Chahar Bolak district of Afghanistan’s Balkh Province where US special forces carried out house-to-house searches, Afghanistan Information Network reported on Sunday. However, the name of the village was not disclosed as the villagers said they had been threatened by the commander of the US forces with “consequences” in case of complaining about the issue. During the operation, the troopers separated the men and women of about 15 families and raped several women, the locals said. Since the beginning of the US-led invasion of Afghanistan in 2001, American troopers have on different occasions abused Afghans. Last month, a US trooper involved in the mass killing of Afghan civilians in southern Afghanistan in March admitted to his crimes for the first time before a military court in the United States. 4. The Innocence Of Muslims Vs. The Truth! The Innocence of Muslims. A movie also known as Muhammad Movie Trailer and The Real Life of Muhammad, is an anti-Islam video, reported to have been written and produced by Nakoula Basseley Nakoula. The video depicts scenes featuring the main character, who is referred to as the Prophet Muhammad, by overdubbing. In one scene, the main character calls a donkey "the first Muslim animal". It goes on to depict our Holy Prophet (SAW) in an awful, distorted and false manner. Muslims, the world over, have been reacting with outrage and some have been extreme in their methods and this sends out the wrong signal about Islam. Are we not, after all, a religion of peace? Has this not been taught to us by none other than our Holy Prophet (SAW)? Following the peaceful message of Islam, The World Federation of KSIMC are bringing you the true Introduction to the Holy Prophet of Islam (SAW), through a series of short hadith’s and anecdotes from the Holy Quran which will be published every day on our Facebook page and website! 5. First ever Shia Muslim Community emerges in Rwanda The East African country of Rwanda has seen its fair share of troubled times, but in May 2012, new energy is springing from the capital city of Kigali where the formation of a first ever Shia Muslim community is taking form. Last May, a team of about 4 individuals from East Africa travelled to Kigali on a mission to help new Khoja Shia Ithna Asheri families settle in Kigali. These families arrived in Kigali about one year ago. During the course of their stay, they found that there was a thirst among the local people to learn more about Islam. To help meet this growing desire, the team facilitated the creation of the first Khoja Shia Ithna Asheri Jamaat in Kigali. The KSI Jamaat of Kigali initially started with about 10 families and has an executive body with Haji Shabbirbhai Dandjee as the President. Since then, the community has grown with families arriving from Nairobi, Mombasa and Dar es Salaam seeking new business opportunities which are abundant in Rwanda. In July 2012, a building was rented to house the new KSI Jamaat of Kigali; today, the jamaat has grown in large numbers and has outgrown the Centre already. RAMADHAN 1433 PROGRAM For the Holy month of Ramadhan, Sheikh Salimou Maroufou of Madagascar was invited to lead the Ramadhan and tableegh program in Kigali. Afternoon and evening prayers were held daily as were Dua e Iftetah, Ramadhan Duas and majalis. Almost 150 Rwandese Shias attended the program each night. These newcomers to the Centre were keen to learn more about Islam and the Shia faith. Eid ul Fitr was celebrated for the first time in Kigali where about 550 Shia Muslims participated. One of the team members who helped establish the KSI Jamaat of Kigali said: “it was an exceptional day in the history of our community.” MUHARRAM 1434 PROGRAM 3 religious scholars visited Kigali to support the Muharram program at the Islamic Centre. Two of these aalims were Sheikh Chaik Talib and Sheikh Abu Jassim of Madagascar, and the third muballigh was from Mombasa. The Centre was draped with black flags and an Alam to symbolize the events that took place in Karbala. Afternoon and evening salaat were held daily; in the evenings, marshiyas, majalis, matam and niyaz took place every day where about 100 people attended each night. On Ashura Day, about 350 people joined in the remembrance of the sacrifices of Imam Husayn (as), his family members and his companions. This was the first ever Muharram in a Shia centre in Kigali. The community in Kigali continues to progress and plans are underway to open a madrasah for the children and then eventually a Hawza Ilmiya.
  6. Shiite Community faces more distress after Indonesian authorities halt aid Updated 5 December 2012 “O mankind! Indeed we have created you from a male and a female, and made you nations and tribes that you may identify with one another. Indeed the noblest of you in the sight of Allah is the most Godwary among you. Indeed Allah is all knowing, all-aware.” (Holy Qur’an, 49:13) “While Indonesia’s Constitution protects freedom of religion, regulations against blasphemy and proselytizing are routinely used to prosecute atheists, Bahais, Christians, Shiites, Sufis and members of the Ahmadiyya faith.” This is an extract taken from a New York Times article written on 21 May 2012 by Andreas Harsono - a researcher for the Asia division at Human Rights Watch. The rights of religious and ethnic minorities are consistently being trampled on in Indonesia and once again the world is witnessing another wave of aggression – this time on Indonesia’s Shiite minorities. Indonesian authorities have cut off food and water supplies to at least 190 displaced Shia Muslims in East Java - including 69 women and 61 children. In August 2012, the Shia community, from Karang Gayam village in the Sampang district on Madura island, were displaced when an anti-Shia mob of around 500 people attacked the community with sharp weapons and stones. One person was killed and dozens were injured. The mob also set fire to thirty-five houses belonging to the Shia community. Four people have since been charged for the attack. Following the attack, the community was moved to temporary shelter at a sports complex in Sampang - with minimal facilities - where they have been living for the last three months. No medicine or facilities specifically for children or women have been provided. On 18 November, the local authorities cut off water supply to the complex and on 22 November they halted food supplies. The displaced community has been forced to use their limited funds to purchase food and water. According to credible sources, some of the Shia followers at the complex have been intimidated and harassed by local government officials who have urged them to convert to Sunni Islam if they want to return to their homes. The Holy Qur’an warns against aggression: “But when He delivers them, behold, they commit violations on the earth unduly! O mankind! Your violations are only to your own detriment. (These are) the wares of the life of this world; then to Us will be your return, whereat We will inform you concerning what you used to do.” (10:23) “…and He forbids indecency, wrong, and aggression. He advises you so that you may take admonition.”(16:90) INDONESIA RELIEF FUND ‘Islam’ means peace. The World Federation condemns any violence perpetrated against any individual or group of people for any motive. The World Federation is calling on the Indonesian authorities to respect and enforce the religious freedom of all minorities in speech and in action, and implement the constitutional protection of freedom of worship. Food and water is a basic human right and we urge the Indonesian authorities to do the right thing and deliver urgently needed aid to its displaced Shiite citizens.
  7. Muharram 1434 Azadari at Al-Mawaddat Centre - Kuala Lumpur Updated 5 December 2012 When the new crescent is sighted in the beginning of the Islamic Calender, the wave of mourning begins from East to West commemorating the Martyrdom of Imam Husayn (‘a), his family and companions on the plains of Karbala and the captivity of his ahlul bayt (‘a) from Karbala to Kufa and then to Shaam. In Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the Khoja Shia Ithna Asheri Students and the Indo-Pakistani residents’ community commemorated the Azadari at Al-Mawaddat Centre which hosted all twelve nights for the first time. Since its founding in 2007, the Azadari gatherings was only organised from the sixth night onwards. It was also the first time that Al-Mawaddat Centre invited a Zakir from overseas to deliver the Majalis-e-Azaa over the 12 nights. Mawlana Munawar Abbas Kumaili, from India delivered his lectures on the Ideal Life under the Light Imam Husayn (‘a). He examined the entire journey of the caravan from Madinah and the events that unfolded in Karbala and explained how every incident and step taken by Imam Husayn (‘a) in the Karbala set an example for us to apply in our lives today. For instance, standing up against oppressive regimes and policies, ensuring justice and rights in accordance to Islam, employing patience during atrocities, performing deeds that fulfill the pleasure of Allah (s.w.t.) only, sacrifice of material world, sacrifice of oneself and family for the pleasure of Allah (s.w.t.). The Majalis videos are available at Al-Mawaddat Video Channel (http://www.youtube.com/almawaddat). The presence of a Zakir prompted a large crowd reaching a peak of 180 including gents, ladies and children. Children and Youth Marsia/Nauha khwans illuminated the azadari with their poetry and eulogies. All events with the exception of Yawm-e-Ashura began with Salaatul Maghribain at 7.00pm followed by Hadeeth al-Kisa and Marsia. Mawlana Munawar thereafter delivered his majalis from the pulpit of Rasulallah (s.a.w.) enlightening the azadar on the fadhail and masaib of Imam Husayn (‘a) and his Ahlul Bayt (‘a). Mataam, Ziyarat and Niyaz-e-Husayn (‘a) thereafter followed suit concluding at approximately 10.00pm. On Yawm-e-Ashura, the programme began with A’maal-e-Ashura concluding just in time for Salaatul Zohrain which was followed by Ashura Majlis and Mataam. In the late afternoon, ladies convened a separate majlis in which resident Zakira Mulyani Syeda Fatima Abbas delivered the majlis. Alhamdulillah, it is indeed with the Grace of Almighty Allah (s.w.t.) that the Majalis-e-Azaa were successfully commemorated. Al-Mawaddat Centre is grateful to Mawlana Munawar Abbas for travelling from a far, sacrificing the time with his family to deliver the message of Ahlul Bayt (‘a). It is indeed the Ulema and the Zakirin who help us answer the call of Imam Husayn (‘a) - ‘Halmin Nasirin Yansurna’. Al-Mawaddat Centre is also grateful to the various marsia and nauha khwan, the volunteers and all those who supported in one way or another to contribute towards the Azadari programmes. With the success this time, Al-Mawaddat Centre is now looking forward to arrange and invite a Zakir from overseas to visit and deliver the Majalis over the ten days leading to Arbaeen of Imam Husayn (‘a) next month, Inshallah. Meanwhile, we pray to Allah (s.w.t.) accept our Azadari, the A’maal and Ibadat performed during these auspicious 12 days, and grant us the tawfiq to take the message we have learnt into our lives throughout the year. For more information about Al-Mawaddat Centre and its programmes, please visit www.almawaddat.org.
  8. 1 Muharram 1434 | 16 November 2012 Salaamun Alaikum Sisters and Brothers The most tragic event ever in the history of mankind Kullu Yamin Ashura wa Kullu Arzin Karbala Every day is the Ashura and every Land is Karbala & Every Mimbar and every Mehrab is a battleground of Imam Hussein (as) The Majalis of Imam Hussein ('a) and the tears that roll down our cheeks are for the oppressed and each droplet being a challenge to the tyrant. We are not the "Nation of Weepers", but these weeping and wailing have protected the school of Sayyid ash-Shuhada ('a) and these recounting of the tragedy has kept his message alive. Muharram is the month of epic heroism and self-sacrifice, the month in which truth condemned falsehood and branded the mark of disgrace upon the forehead of all oppressors and oppressed governments. Insaan ko baidaar to ho lainay do, Har Qaum pukaaray gi hamaray hain Hussein (When humanity wakes up from its slumber, every nation will cry out: Husain is ours!) The real tragedy of the Muslims is not that we are oppressed and our lands and harts are occupied, but there are too many Yazids in the world and no Imam Hussein among us. Year after year the sacrifices of the great Imam will be commemorated all over the world; even the rulers of some Muslim countries & communities will participate in ceremonies of "Ashura" to pay tribute to Imam Hussein's principle stand against injustice and oppression. Yet these same rulers & leaders perpetrate corruption, oppression and injustice in their own societies daily. It is this hypocrisy that is at the root of much of the suffering of Muslims today. The Muslim world is dominated by Yazids who have pledged themselves to the modern-day Pharaohs and before drawing parallels between contemporary problems of Muslims and the tragedy of Karbala, let us be clear about Imam Hussein's sacrifice. He did not struggle for worldly gain or power, but only to reform the community (Ummah) of his grandfather and not to pledge allegiance to Yazid. He preferred to die rather than compromise with injustice and oppression. Such clarity of vision, purpose and commitment is lacking in Muslims today. There is a long list of tragedies that have befallen upon us that can be cited as our present-day Karbala: Bahrain, Palestine, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Kashmir, Bosnia, Somalia, Pakistan and Gujarat are but a few. Everywhere Muslims are under attack, they are vilified, tortured, humiliated and killed, yet they are the ones accused of almost every kind of wrongdoing. We Muslims are in such bad shape today because we have allowed too many compromises and have forgotten the lesson of Karbala. Imam Hussein ('a) had correctly diagnosed the problem confronting Muslims in his time, it was the question of illegitimacy and usurpation of power and authority by people who were totally unfit to lead and rule. He raised his voice against it. Today, the whole of the Muslim world and even some of the Islamic centers are governed by the likes of Yazid with corruption, nepotism, oppression and injustice. Yet these very rulers and leaders dare to extol the virtues of Imam Hussein ('a) while themselves indulging in Yazidi behavior. Muharram this year must be an occasion for doing more than shedding tears for the Holy Prophet's grandson Hussein ('a). It is in this month, with the example of 'Ashura before us, which the Islamic world must unite in lifting the standard of truth and justice. This remembrance of tragedy of Karbala in theory has two components. One is mourning, in the belief that tears shed for Imam Hussein ('a) have spiritual power to purify the soul. And the second component certainly is, as keeping the memory of the revolution of Imam Hussein ('a) alive involves recognition of the nature of corruption in governments/communities and the need to oppose it. May our participation in the Azadari of Karbala this year be our source of Salvation!

  14. Chinese Muslims No. increases This year 13,800 Embark on Hajj Rate This JNN 19 Oct 2012 Shanghai : “There has been a gradual increase in the number of Chinese pilgrims over the past years,” Ma, the deputy director of the China Islamic Association, said. Charging their spiritual batteries, a record number of Chinese Muslim pilgrims are embarking on hajj this year, seeking forgiveness in the soul-searching journey. “Going to Makkah is something every Muslim dreams to accomplish in their lifetime,” Zhao Wenqi, an imam from Xi’an, told The Global Times. Making his pilgrimage in 2010, he described the experience as “dreamlike” and “deeply spiritual.” “We met Muslims from around the world and talked about what it’s like to be a Muslim in China,” Zhao said. Wenqi was among Muslims who gathered to bid farewell to thousands of Chinese pilgrims who were granted the chance to fulfill their life-time journey of hajj. The trip, including lodging and flight tickets, could cost 30,000 yuan ($4,786). “More people are now able to afford the trip,” Ma Zhongping, deputy director of the China Islamic Association, said. Muslims from around the world pour into Makkah every year to perform hajj, one of the five pillars of Islam. Hajj consists of several rituals, which are meant to symbolize the essential concepts of the Islamic faith, and to commemorate the trials of Prophet Abraham and his family. Every able-bodied adult Muslim who can financially afford the trip must perform hajj at least once in a lifetime. Hajj starts on the eighth day of the lunar month of Dhul Hijjah, which falls this year on October 24. Most pilgrims come earlier to visit the holy mosques in Makkah and nearby Madinah, where Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessing be upon him) was buried over 1,400 years ago. Record Numbers Marking the largest convoy from China, the numbers of pilgrims this year show a gradual increase in hajj figures. “There has been a gradual increase in the number of Chinese pilgrims over the past years,” Ma, the deputy director of the China Islamic Association, said. The number of Chinese Muslims making the pilgrimage first exceeded 10,000 in 2007. In 2010, it climbed to 13,300. This year 13,800 Muslims will make the pilgrimage. “China currently forbids its citizens to travel to Makkah on their own, following the request by the Saudi Arabian government,” said Ma, adding that 3 million Muslims are expected to visit Makkah this year. “We had around 1,000 people in Shaanxi Province applying for the trip, but only 279 people ended up going,” Wenqi, the imam from Xi’an, added. According to official data, China has 20 million Muslims, most of them are concentrated in Xinjiang, Ningxia, Gansu, and Qinghai regions and provinces. More than 2.25 million Hui live in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, accounting for more than one-third of the total population of the region. Smaller Muslim communities can also be found throughout interior China. Unofficially, Muslim groups say the number is even higher, stating that there are from 65-100 million Muslims in China — up to 7.5 percent of the population. Egyptian Shias to join Friday’s planned Tahrir Protest against Wahabi Dominance 1 Vote JNN 18 Oct 2012 Cairo : Spokesman for Egypt’s Shia minority says his coreligionists will participate in planned Friday rally to press for religious freedom. Egyptian Shias will take part in Friday’s planned ‘Egypt for all Egyptians’ demonstration, Bahaa Anwar Mohamed, senior member of the liberal Ghad Al-Thawra Party and a spokesman for Egyptian Shias, announced Wednesday. Separate marches will set out from the Mohandiseen, Shubra and Sayyeda Zeinab districts of Cairo. Bahaa said that Egyptian Shias planned to join the Sayyeda Zeinab rally, slated to begin following Friday prayers.
