  8. I also found the book extremely insightful. So much so that when I hear people speaking rubbish, the word "prole" comes to my mind immediately lol. Also, I've just begun reading Animal Farm by Orwell. Will let you know my take on it insha'Allah.

Bro Muhammad Ali, In no way am I saying my opinion is set in stone or anything.. After all this is a 'thoughts' thread. The context behind it was the pursuit of Happiness in the material sense.. If we use the word happiness as part of contentment then of course it's a noble pursuit. Happiness isn't to be avoided or not sought after. I didn't mean that at all. I'm merely making the point; if we look at happiness and sadness in the purist emotional sense - they are equal emotions. They will come and go throughout life.
  10. Thoughts (2010-2016) [ARCHIVE]

No. Peace is peace. It is a different feeling in my opinion. Contentment is far different from happiness. Happiness is an emotion. Peace and contentment seem to provide more than a simple, fragile, emotional feeling.
  11. Thoughts (2010-2016) [ARCHIVE]

It would definitely provide more peace. The system promotes this 'mad dash' for happiness through the products it offers. It's all futile, in the end - a temporary moment of bliss or happiness. Oh yeah, what I'm talking here is the pursuit of happiness that the world promotes. Total farce.
  12. Thoughts (2010-2016) [ARCHIVE]

I think the 'happiness' you are ascribing to justice is actually contentment. Though, I could be wrong of course. Well, sadness will always come over us David. We cannot help this. When we lose someone, a natural disaster strikes, we see pictures of unfathomable distress etc.. Equally happiness will always come over us. A baby is born, to feel loved by someone, to be placed with trust, to gain some comfort with wealth, purchasing a new material good etc. I disagree. They are equal in my opinion. (anyway this is thoughts, not sure we should be spamming it lol (?))
  13. Thoughts (2010-2016) [ARCHIVE]

Yeah, that's what I was alluding to but I'd like to add to it, if I may? Happiness is a transient emotion. Just like sadness. They are equal. One should not be valued over the other. They are, after all, natural reactive responses. Why did God put emotions like happiness and sadness in us, if not to equally find Him through them? We have the ability to do so through every single emotion we come across through the active channeling of these emotions in the right direction. Contentment is what must be. It's a perspective; a mindset. Insha'Allah we can all sustain it some day.

The pursuit of happiness is a complete farce.

  16. Dialogue With Homosexuals

(salam) I don't think it's as simple these days. I mean for some Muslims who happen to be homosexual, in the attraction sense, they may feel like they didn't bring it upon themselves; from their perspective it is 'natural' so it isn't an easy test for them. Saying "you are going to be punished if you act on it" is not really enough in this day and age, since like I said from their perspective they'll feel it as natural. A lot of them face the dilemma of 'why' they feel the way they do, and I sometimes think it's reductive simply say "the cause is environmental" because, though that may be, how will that help them from their perspective? More needs to be done from our communities to tackle this growing issue, in my honest opinion. Well, a lot needs to be done by our communities on a range of growing issues... (these are just thoughts btw)

  19. Did Adam Really Start Life In Heaven?

(salam) Just to add, isn't heaven/paradise (in the sense of our residing place after death) only for those who have been judged? So, it seems illogical to assume that Prophet Adam (as) was in that paradise.
  20. Question To Both Shias And Sunni Bros/sisters

(wasalam) I don't care enough about who I randomly see on the street tbh, I've got bigger things to worry about lol.
  21. How Do I Ask For Forgiveness?

(salam) The simple rule of thumb is to be sincere. You cannot waver when it comes to repenting or looking for redemption. You must believe and make a promise that you will try your best to avoid the sins from now on. That you will be better. Remember though, you must constantly seek this repentance (heart and mouth) because God wants to know you're persistant. So please do read du'a/Qur'an and supplicate. Try to lengthen your sajdah and just focus on the feeling/motivation that you have when trying to be better. There will come a time when you feel redeemed and refreshed, so till then keep at it and don't ask questions like "how do I know I've been forgiven" etc because that is a senseless question that it asked for the sake of it. You will know if you've been forgiven if you keep persisting.
  22. Homosexual, Kafir, Polytheist... Which Is Worse?

(salam) Are you asking 'which is worse' to know the point of view in the eyes of Allah (swt) or just because you're not sure who to keep friends with and/or stay in contact with? Anyway, this seems to me like a social issue - more than anything else. It all depends on what they want with the contact or relation.

Does anyone know any ahadith articles/books pertaining to Prophet 'Isa (as)? I did once read an article that spoke of Imam Ali (as) and Prophet 'Isa (as) that drew comparisons between the two. I guess the question should be: do we have many ahadith relating to Prophet 'Isa (as)?
