  8. I also found the book extremely insightful. So much so that when I hear people speaking rubbish, the word "prole" comes to my mind immediately lol. Also, I've just begun reading Animal Farm by Orwell. Will let you know my take on it insha'Allah.

Bro Muhammad Ali, In no way am I saying my opinion is set in stone or anything.. After all this is a 'thoughts' thread. The context behind it was the pursuit of Happiness in the material sense.. If we use the word happiness as part of contentment then of course it's a noble pursuit. Happiness isn't to be avoided or not sought after. I didn't mean that at all. I'm merely making the point; if we look at happiness and sadness in the purist emotional sense - they are equal emotions. They will come and go throughout life.

No. Peace is peace. It is a different feeling in my opinion. Contentment is far different from happiness. Happiness is an emotion. Peace and contentment seem to provide more than a simple, fragile, emotional feeling.

It would definitely provide more peace. The system promotes this 'mad dash' for happiness through the products it offers. It's all futile, in the end - a temporary moment of bliss or happiness. Oh yeah, what I'm talking here is the pursuit of happiness that the world promotes. Total farce.

I think the 'happiness' you are ascribing to justice is actually contentment. Though, I could be wrong of course. Well, sadness will always come over us David. We cannot help this. When we lose someone, a natural disaster strikes, we see pictures of unfathomable distress etc.. Equally happiness will always come over us. A baby is born, to feel loved by someone, to be placed with trust, to gain some comfort with wealth, purchasing a new material good etc. I disagree. They are equal in my opinion. (anyway this is thoughts, not sure we should be spamming it lol (?))

Yeah, that's what I was alluding to but I'd like to add to it, if I may? Happiness is a transient emotion. Just like sadness. They are equal. One should not be valued over the other. They are, after all, natural reactive responses. Why did God put emotions like happiness and sadness in us, if not to equally find Him through them? We have the ability to do so through every single emotion we come across through the active channeling of these emotions in the right direction. Contentment is what must be. It's a perspective; a mindset. Insha'Allah we can all sustain it some day.
