  1. World Cup 2018!

I think his real prime was 2-3 years before the World Cup. His goal against Korea is still a great memory, but I can't remember him having an impact on the Finals themselves (did he score the one goal?). Might just be the 4 long years doing this to me. True, Taremi and Pouraliganji are playing in Qatar, but both are more than capable of playing elsewhere. Taremi especially is at least playing somewhere before the WC, after sitting out a 6 month FIFA ban for walking out of a transfer with a Turkish club. But Ansarifard, Ghoddos, Jahanbaksh, and Rezaei are all at or near the top of the leading scorer charts in their European leagues (Greece, Sweden, the Netherlands, and Belgium respectively). Might not be the best leagues in the world, but others like Azmoun and maybe Dejagah could've legitimately been starting for Everton right now had they transferred (which Azmoun didn't out of a desire to stay in Russia before the World Cup). Mohammadi and Ezatolahi are in the same way, if nothing else, acclimatized to playing in Russia because they play in the first division over there.
  2. World Cup 2018!

Isn't it interesting how 9 of these 11 players play in foreign leagues? The team is even more stacked with legionnaires than in the last World Cup.
  3. World Cup 2018!

Too old and slow. Might have an impact as a sub, but I'd consider bringing on both Kaveh Rezaei and Ansarifard before I turned to Gucci (based on recent form). Can't really see him starting over either of Taremi or Azmoun. He was past his prime even before the '14 World Cup.
  4. World Cup 2018!

Thoughts on this Starting 11 for Iran?
  5. World Cup 2018!

Iraq sucks at football. Their quarterfinal win in the last Asian Cup was a disgrace to the sport.
  6. SuperBowl 2018

Lol a 50% split in the poll. I can tell ShiaChat doesn't watch much NFL.
  7. World Cup 2018!

Well, that isn't very patriotic. You have a rather gloomy outlook on life.
  8. World Cup 2018!

Any thoughts on Azmoun's dismal season in the run-up to the World Cup, and Taremi's lack of one? Iran's most in-form strikers have to be Kaveh Rezaei and Karim Ansarifard. Which seems rather bizarre to me, given where they were at 2-3 years ago.
  9. What do think about demonstrations in Iran

    http://www.cbc.ca/news/opinion/iran-protests-1.4499175 Finally some logic.
  10. World Cup 2018!

    Carlos Queiroz, is that you?
  11. Becoming Freemason change status as Shi'i?

The way I understand it from the hadith, there are differences between a thing created by Allah, a thing said to be "Allah's" because of its esteemed status, and a thing "of Allah" in that it constitutes a part of him (I hesitate to even type a phrase like 'part of Allah'). Obviously, the Imams objected very strongly to something finite and limited (like a soul) belonging to category 2 being identified as something in category 3.
  12. Becoming Freemason change status as Shi'i?

@wmehar2 It was not "Allah's soul" which was breathed into Adam (a.s.). "Imam Muhammd al-Baqir [a] was asked about the verse, “So when I have made him (Adam) and have breathed into him of My spirit…” (15:29) He [a] said, "The spirit moves like the wind. We call it 'ruh' (spirit) because its name is derived from 'reeh' (wind). This derivative is selected because the spirits are of the same genus of the wind. He has attached it to Himself (that is, called it "My spirit") because He selected it from among the other spirits, just as He has selected a house from among the houses, and said: 'My house' (2:125), and said about a messenger from among the messengers: 'My friend', and so on. [All such things] are created, invented, caused, nurtured and arranged." [Ma`ani al-Akhbar] I'm trying to find a second hadith (of Imam as-Sadiq) in which I recall the Imam actually became visibly angry that someone would suggest that the soul blown into the prophet was Allah's own spirit—saying instead that Allah created an angel who blew the spirit into Adam.
  13. I made a browsable/searchable Shia Hadith website

Not sure if you frequent this forum anymore, brother, but what was your online source for the later books of al-Kafi (especially rawdat)?
  14. Thoughts 2018

Pah, that's barely plug-in-the-car weather. I think it might've dropped to a nighttime low of -50 degrees with the windchill here last week.
