I have two things to contribute: one for happy occassions one for sad ones.
Firstly:
During majlises I often hear people shouting things like "naare haideree" etc...
Can anyone complete this chant that I have heard but cant remember fully.
Dam Dam
Ali Ali
Har Dam
Ali Ali
Batool Ka Shohar
Ali Ali
Fateh-e-Khaybar
Ali Ali
Thats all I remember!
And now for the sad one. If anybody has an objection to this please let me know: because even though its a poem about Karbalah I have written it through the eyes of Imam Hussain
Here goes nothing:
Standing near the grounds,
Ali Akbar, dear son, I saw you,
Three days of thirst,
Is surely the worst
state, in which to use your sword,
Yet you fought-and died- in the name of the Lord.
Standing by the tents,
Qassim, sweet nephew, I heard you,
Your life was running out,
Yet you still gave a shout,
And your last salutations-until the Day (of judgement)
You gave you life in a most courageous way.
Standing in front of the enemy,
Sweet Ali Asghar, my six month old son, I felt you,
Your body limp, my hands full of blood,
Too pure to be thrown into the sky and down on the mud,
Laanat on the zaalim who made that touch
to fire the arrow. Killing the child we loved so much!
Kneeling down in prayer,
Allah, Almighty God, I thought of you,
Not too far away,
From this tragic day,
I hereby assure you that I will always know,
That it is from you that we come and to you that we go.
