I found this basic map very interesting. I've been reading the history of the Palestine/Israel conflict today (as well as the history of Zionism), and found this map online (one of many), so I thought I'd post it here. Have a look.

Posted Image

Originally, from what I've read, Palestinians accounted for roughly 73% of the entire population of the country, with Jews, Christians, and others combined making up the other 27%.

why was the partition idea in 1947 rejected? there has to be a justified reason...or is it that hindsight is always 20/20?

i mean, i understand fully why Arafat rejected Clinton's proposal in 1998 (?), but I don't know why 1947's was.. unless there is something missing from the story that i just don't know about...

Imam Ali (as) to his general Malik Al-Ashtar
QUOTE
Remember, Malik, that amongst your subjects there are two kinds of people: those who have the same religion as you have; they are brothers to you, and those who have religions other than that of yours, they are human beings like you. Men of either category suffer from the same weaknesses and disabilities that human beings are inclined to, they commit sins, indulge in vices either intentionally or foolishly and unintentionally without realizing the enormity of their deeds. Let your mercy and compassion come to their rescue and help in the same way and to the same extent that you expect Allah to show mercy and forgiveness to you.

Because Palestinians were confident enough thinking they had enough military support from the rest of arab nations to defeat the Jews and get all the land back....it backfired on them.

Palestinians had it made in 1947, if you compare it to what is the proposal of their own state today. They thought they could get more with 3, count them, 3 wars, but lost. This is how land is concured by througout history - by war.

The Land belongs to Israel.

Israel has defeated the Arabs in the battles. Let's see them and I'm going to be brief:

1. 1948 : the armies of Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, and Iraq declared war on Israel.
Israel defeated them.
2. 1967: Syria, Jordan, and Egypt attacked again. Israel defeated them.
3. 1973: Egypt and Syria made a suprise attack. Israel defeated them.

Common sense tells us that the Arab lost, so the land belongs to the Jew. Case Closed.
Learn to get along and make peace.

Using your assanine logic, all the lands conquered by the Muslim armies originating from Arabia should be REAPPROPRIATED to their rightful owners. Agree?

These words of the Holy Quran ring so true:

7:137 And We made the people who were deemed weak to inherit the eastern lands and the western ones which We had blessed. And the good word of thy Lord was fulfilled in the Children of Israel — because of their patience. And We destroyed what Pharaoh and his people had wrought and what they had built.

Last time I checked there are about 1.5 to 2 Million Arabs who are citizens of Israel and they are happy there:

http://www.arabsfori...l.com/home.html

I believe Jordan is the intended home of the "Palestinians", more then 60% of Jordan's population consists of Palestinians.

I am against violence on both sides but I do believe in the right of Israel to exist and for it to defend itself.

That is just made up crap. And even if it was true
What about the palestinians who can't live there? What about the palestinians who were killed because they tried to live there?
Israel is the cause of all poverty and war in the middle east.
And Israel is defending itself? Hahaha it's a good thing I know your joking.
Edit: After reading more into that website it is obvious that it was not made by palestinians. Probably not even Arabs or even muslis for that matter....
Edit #2: After reading even more it is obvious it was written by Israelis.

Yeah, yeah, and the intended home of all the people I don't want in the country I want to steal is somewhere else - yeah, yeah, yeah.
When ... a whole country is unjustly overrun and conquered by a foreign army, and subjected to military law, I think that it is not too soon for honest men to rebel and revolutionize. You should be more worried about getting land back to the American Indians and Mexicans which your people took from them.

There are no American Indians, who are currently forced to live as refugees. If there were any, I would be the first to call for their "right of return".

As for Mexicans, there were none who were ethnically cleansed.  When the US took over the territories of Texas and other parts of the southwest, full citizenship was granted to all those who were resident in those territores. They didn't have to worry about some low life buffoonish racists saying that they "believe Mexico is the intended home of the Hispanic Americans", or any such nonsense.

I suppose that I can understand how nit-wits who have been bamboozled into supporting the racist Zionist entity would have to grasp at straws. The goofy claims about how past trasngressions in other countries somehow "justify" Zionist crimes, are the only arguments that they can make.

O Allah, we ardently desire that in (his) (Imam Mahdi a.s) kind, just and fair era. You should reactivate Islam and stimulate its followers and humble and humiliate the impostors and their double dealing, and include us among those who invite people unto Your obedience, and lead them to Your approved path and give us the good of this world and the hereafter.

It's statements like that which make Muslims look anti-semitic.

Not all Jews are "bad".
Corinthians Part 1 New Testament Chapter 11 Verse 6-7

11:6. For if a woman be not covered, let her be shorn. But if it be a shame to a woman to be shorn or made bald, let her cover her head.
Nam si non velatur mulier et tondeatur si vero turpe est mulieri tonderi aut decalvari velet caput suum

11:7. The man indeed ought not to cover his head: because he is the image and glory of God. But the woman is the glory of the man.
Vir quidem non debet velare caput quoniam imago et gloria est Dei mulier autem gloria viri est

Originally, from what I've read, Palestinians accounted for roughly 73% of the entire population of the country, with Jews, Christians, and others combined making up the other 27%.

Too bad it's bogus.

1) Did Arab Palestinians inhabit 100% of the Negev desert ?

That would be a world first - a fruitful, evenly distributed desert population of consistent ethnicity.

2)  Did Arab Palestinians actually have that land as any sort of state?

3) Many demographic statistics of Palestine in the 1940s actually include parts of what is now Jordan, an Arab state. All was previously British.

4) When you include Jordan, Iraq, Pakistan, etc, Britain has made far more muslim and/or arab states than jewish ones. They dwarf Israel in size, even though they lost a handful of wars.

5) Germany lost 2 wars, and lost a lot of land to Poland, France, and what is now the Czech Republic. Are those countries obligated to give it back? Is Germany crying about it?

6) If you slice a map up into any old polygon like you have, does 73% of the population deserve 73% of the land?

By this logic, looking at America : http://en.wikipedia....ion-density.gif

If the cities from New York to Washington DC were of one ethnicity, and the United States was to be split up between this ethnicity and "the others", then New York would be given an absurd slice of land.

7) If you look at the original plan, Jerusalem was supposed to be under UN control, Jaffa was supposed to have an Arab area, and the Jews hardly had any interesting land (desert + Tel Aviv is not interesting)

If you look at history, the Jews said "fine", the arabs effectively said "screw the jews".
