Theek Che !

I am not khoja but have had much to do with them socially and religiously. Among the Shias of the world, the Khojas are the most productive and useful people, contributing to the community like no other Shias. God bless the late Mulla Asghar.

No Swahili - but I can understand some words in Gujrati.  I sometimes get lost if someone tries to undertake a full-blown conversation in Gujrati.

But yes, there are other Gujratis in this site. Hope they will respond to your thread.

I  :wub: kukupaka, it's yummy. I've always thought the name strange,  :) 'cat & chicken' curry. :)  I did read an intresting article on how the name came about. Will see if I can hunt it up.

Lol, its not that bad coz it doesnt really contain cat soup  :squeez: That was just a joke coz the term "pakaa" means cat in swahili. However, that word in the dish refers to "thick/gravy-ish/well-done" curry  :huh: We also have something called macchi (fish) paaka, which is made of fish instead of chicken  :wub: ..It tastes great..

Macchi = fish (in gujrati)
samaki = fish (in swahili)

What the brother forgot to add :) is that these are coconut based curries, containing either chicken or fish. Pretty tame!

This is a fun site

“Each of you, for himself, by himself and on his own responsibility, must speak. And it is a solemn and weighty responsibility, and not lightly to be flung aside at the bullying of pulpit, press, government, or the empty catchphrases of politicians. Each must for himself alone decide what is right and what is wrong, and which course is patriotic and which isn't. You cannot shirk this and be a man. To decide against your convictions is to be an unqualified and inexcusable traitor, both to yourself and to your country, let man label you as they may. If you alone of all the nation shall decide one way, and that way be the right way according to your convictions of the right, you have done your duty by yourself and by your country- hold up your head! You have nothing to be ashamed of.”  ~ Mark Twain

I believe that the people, instead of pretty lies, should be told the truth, no matter how ugly it may be. What can we do, destiny hasn't been kind to us; but, with the help of God, we will prevail. ~ Alija Izetbegović

Well gujrati & swahili are not related at all.. swahili's just a mixture of bantu (an african language) and arabic..
Many khojas knw swahili cuz after living in east africa..its one of the widely spoken languages around.. as for gujrati.. thats their mother tongue.. or katchi for others(like me!).. lol
