Salam alaikum,
I found something and I want to know if it is true or false. I would really like to know if it is something the sunnis made up or does it have any validity. I have been trying to trace back the lineage of Imam Jafar Sadiq and keep coming up to the same thing. Which I will post "Jafar Sadiq or Jafar Al Saddiq (pronounced Jafar As Saddiq) was born as Jafar Ibn Muhammad in Medina on April 20, 702. He was the son of Muhammad ibn Ali, also known as Muhammad al-Baqir and the grandson of Ali ibn Husayn, also known as Zainul Abideen. This made him a direct decendant of the Prophet of Islam - Muhammad SAWS (through Ali Ibn Abi Talib and Fatima Zahra and their son Husayn ibn Ali. His mother Umm e Farwah was the great grandaughter of Abu Bakr the first Caliph of the early Islamic State." Now is that true can he be related to Abu Bakr that doesnt make much sense to me. If you know his real ancestry please send me the correction or if not and this is valid can you send me the authentic shia sources? Thank you in advance,
Baker

Salaam baker2000. Here is a link to the book alIrshad by sheikh al Mufid. http://al-islam.org/...os/6thimam.html . It will give you a good history about our imam. But in response to what you ask, that Imam Sadiq can be related to Abu Bakr, sure, this is a fact and there is nothing wrong with that. First, we are all related by our father Adam, we are either brothers in Faith or in Creation (as Imam Ali used to say, as). Many of the Imams had relations with wicked people, the prophet's sawas uncle was abu lahab and an ardent enemy of Islam. Fadl alAbbas' mother was related to someone from Yazid's army and Ali al Aghbar's mother was the grand daughter of Muawayi. A person is judged by his actions and not his lineage, and if you look at Muhammad ibn Abu Baker, he was the friend of Imam Ali, while Aisha, his sister, was vehemently against Ali. Hope this helps.

Banu Hashim:
Abd Manaf--Hashim--Abd al Muttalib--Abd Allah--Muhammed
Abd Manaf--Hashim--Abd al Muttalib--Abu Talib--Ali
Abd Manaf--Hashim--Abd al Muttalib--Abu Lahab(surah 111 Let the hands of Abu Lahab perish, and let himself perish his wealth and his gains shall avail him not. Burned shall he be at the fiery flame,And his wife laden with fire wood,On her neck a rope of palm fibre).

Rasulullah
[COLOR=blue]"Call on me; I will answer your prayer! (Surah Al Ghaafir 40:60)"
"How plenty in numbers are the lessons to be taken and how less in numbers are those who learn lessons."
Nahj Al-Balaagha
O ye who believe! Let not a folk deride a folk who may be better than they (are), not let women (deride) women who may be better than they are; neither defame one another, nor insult one another by nicknames. Bad is the name of lewdness after faith. And whoso turneth not in repentance, such are evil-doers.
O ye who believe! Shun much suspicion; for lo! some suspicion is a crime. And spy not, neither backbite one another. Would one of you love to eat the flesh of his dead brother? Ye abhor that (so abhor the other)! And keep your duty (to Allah). Lo! Allah is Relenting, Merciful.
[49:11-12]
