These are some sayings by Imam Ali(as) on friendship.

:) Keep good relations with Allah and Allah will attend to your relations with people.

:) Be moderate in your love for a friend or hatred for an enemy. The former may turn into an enemy and the latter may turn into a friend.

:) Maintain a fair balance between yourself and others. Wish them what you wish for yourself and hate for them what you hate for yourself. Do not cause injustice; you do not like to be treated unjustly. Behave towards them with the same magnanimity you would like to see in them.

:) Live with the people in such a manner that they will grieve if you die and will miss you in your absence.

:) The most impotent person is one who fails to have friends, still less potent is one who fails to retain the friends he has.

:) Evil persons trace the shortcomings of people and forget their good qualities, like flies that frequent dirty places.

:) A thing, which is done habitually, will be taken as a trait of the person who does it.

:) A person known for wisdom commands respect.

:) Men's hearts are wild, they will be forthcoming when tamed.

:) Maintain communication and exchange of opinion among yourselves.

   Beware of disunity and enmity.

[color=#000000:post_uid0]Salam alaikum wa rahmatullah wa barakatuh

Jazak Allah Taala khayran for the nice reminder. Masha Allah, i always loved these quotes from our beloved imam (alayhi as-salaam) and seems to me, they are becoming more and more important nowadays (or maybe we, the members of the ummah start to forget it? :(  )
Subhan Allah, a lot of muslims are keeping bad company what is not benefitting them, but harms them.

[i:post_uid0]“Say: Allah; then leave them sporting in their vain discourse.” [/i:post_uid0] (The Quranic Chapter, Anam, verse 91)

A good friend is like a pearl, hard to find and very expensive. A good friend is good mu'min or he strives to be one and u can make dhikr with him:

[i:post_uid0]“O you who believe! Remember Allah, remembering frequently and glorify Him morning and evening.”  [/i:post_uid0](The Quranic Chapter, Ahzab, verse 41-42)

Hussein Ibne Zeid has reported on the authority of Imam Sadeq (as):
[i:post_uid0]“The Holy Prophet has said: No people gathered in an assembly in which they neither remembered God nor sent greetings to their prophet unless they regretted it on the Day of Judgment.”
[/i:post_uid0]

I think we always should stick to such people and avoid those who are not benefitting us. For example yesterday i was with a sister of mine, masha Allah. She had gone through very hard times and she was about to loose her iman because she cutted every contact with the religionist groups due to some personal problems. So i invited her and we had some erally vain discourses, astaghfirullah, laffed, hehe a lot, but alhamdulillah at the end she felt comfortable and finally she asked me to advice her about her deen and at the end we decided to go for the shia masjed's meeting together, alhamdulillah.
So i dont say to cut all contact with those who have iman-problems, i just say to try to show good example to them and try to encourage them for 'amr bil ma'roog wa nahy al-munkar insha Allah Taala.
Wa Allahu alem.
May Allah Taala give all of us a lot of good friends who are friends in this dunya and in the Aakehra as well.

Salam alaikum wa rahmatullah wa barakatuh
