actually you sound stupid. Barbers don't do corn rows. Second you don't use false hair to get that style either.

(salam)

I never get to see a close-up look of the hairstyle so if I see one beside me, I might just stare at it

Salam Alaikoum...

Ehem, last time i checked, this was an Ahlylbait Discussion board, not a beauty consultation forum.

If you require any advice on this matter, please contact the nearest hair dresser.

Thank you,

I think the original PURPOSE of the thread was asking if that hairstyle was ISLAMICALLY correct...but it got hijacked :P

I personally think that type of hairstyle is unislamic, it's not modest, it's flashy and calling for attention...especially if you brothers have beards. I mean how funny would that look? @) <---with cornrows

^_^ I always thought that a muslim man should have a modest hairstyles.

I guess modest could mean - conservative styles, not colorful(blue, pink or something), not aggresive(punk). This is just an opinion. Pls correct me if i am wrong

What times have arrived. Our Marjaes are even supposed to consult us regarding hairistyles

However I thought that it's pretty obvious which hairstlyes are modest and which are not...    isn't it...

well since no one here is a scholar and a marji3 is, who better to ask what is allowed and isn't allowed islamically. Should we just start making up laws based on our own opinions now?

It's pretty clear that a person who is not sure what is right ought to ask a Marjae. But I was just stating that many times it occurs that certain issues are (for many people) obvious and a 'seeking of the solution' is therefore not necessary.
And in this case 'hairstyles' I just felt this way.

Just my view brother, so don't take it too seriously. I had no intention to offend anyone. Apologizes if I did so :)

(bismillah)

(salam) Allahu a3lam but i think that this hair style doesn't apply for muslim guys
(even though i like it  B) ) but cornrows and hair brades are usually for women, and thats why you will be able to get it done by in a hair salon or beautician. Therefore, I think it has to do with (tashabuoh bil nissa2--> copying women) in some way. I'm not quite sure about this, but to me its like saying I'm gonna shave my head bald and soon I'll look like a man.

(salam)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sayyid Lankarani:

In the name of God, the Beneficent the Merciful

Salamun Alaikum

If a clothing covers the private parts and is not a garment of Shohrat or corruptive and it is not considered disgrace and degradation for a Muslim and covers the body in the regular manner, it is sufficient.
Hijab is obligatory on women and the entire body of a woman is considered privy. That is, it must be covered except for the circle of the face and the hands to the wrists. If a dress looks as such  that it is considered ornament, or it attracts the attention of the strangers, it is again necessary to cover it.

Wassalam

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

and Sayyid Seestani:

"...; it is not desirable for men to put on whatever bring about humiliation and insult..."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(btw, i know these are rulings on clothes, but i think that it follows the same general suit ^_^ Allah Knows Best)

in my opinion, the picture of "corn rows" would be humiliating and insulting and degrading and disgraceful for me. i would not even think about something like that, and unless you live in the Savanha or Siberia or Outer Mongolia, i would imagine that it would be at least a litte degrading, so i would recommend to stay away from it. but thats only my own opinion.

Allah Knows Best

ws
Oh you who believe! Be maintainers of justice, bearers of witness of God's sake, though it may be against your own selves or (your) parents or near relatives; if he be rich or poor, God is nearer to them both in compassion; therefore do not follow (your) low desires, lest you deviate (from truth); and if you swerve or turn aside, then surely God is aware of what you do. [4:135]

There is no compulsion in religion; truly the right way has become clearly distinct from error; therefore, whoever disbelieves in the Shaitan (Satan) and believes in God, he indeed has laid hold on the firmest handle, which shall not break off, and God is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.[2:256]

s unit like Ayatollah Sistani, Ayatollah Khameini etc these are marji. When you have doubt you refer to them for questions on Islamic principles. I emailed Ayatollah Khameini your question so you can get a authentic answer. I asked specifically about cornrow and dredlocs. We shall see what the reply is soon in sh'a Allah.

As if you would want to look like that anyway.
I think we should follow the Prophets (pbuh).  I dont think he (pbuh) had such a Ludicrous hairstyle.

Sajjad

Who are you to say what is ludicris and what isn't? Second it is stupid to say because the prophet didn't ahve it we shouldn't

If that is the case throw your ocmputer out of the window, and if you have a goatee then shave it off and grow full beard, and if you have any hair dyes take that out and make it natural or put henna or if you use toothbrush throw it away and use mishwak etc etc. get real man
  (bismillah)
(salam)

In my opinion its ludicrous... I am a person and i have the right to state my opinion.  When it comes to following the sunnah you have to use your intellect.  That doesnt mean that I should go throw my computer out the window because obviously thats not using intellect.  I think you should calm down.  :)
