I want my Shia Brothers to post here word of ur first IMAM hazrat ALI ra declaring him self as the IMAM of Muslims and declaring that there would be 11 imams after him.

this is not an unfair question. If he ra really was the imam he would have declared it and also would have declared the what imam is and what are his qualities etc etc. Since hazrat Muhammad pbuh and Quran does not explain the imamat system ( the whole 12 imam system not the word imam) so its a must that first Imam would have enligten us about it if its true ....

In 'Ikmal-ud-Din' a tradition, through 'Jabir-il-Ju'fi', is narrated from 'Jabir-ibn-'Abdillah' thus: "I said: 'O Messenger of Allah we have known Allah and His Apostle; then who is 'Ulul-Amr', those that Allah has made their obedience the same as your obedience?' Then, the Prophet (p.h.u.h.) said: 'O' Jabir! They are, after me, my successors and the guides of Muslims; the first of them is Ali ibn Abi Talib; then (Imam) Hassan, and (Imam) Husayn; then Ali ibn Husayn; then Mohammad ibn Ali; known in the Turah as Baqir, whom you will see, O' Jabir! When you visit him, give my regards to him. After him, there is Sadiq, Ja'far ibn Muhammad; and after him Musa ibn Ja'far; then Ali ibn Musa; then Muhammad ibn Ali; then Ali ibn Muhammad, then Hassan ibn Ali; and after him (there comes) Al-Qaim, whose name and epithet is the same as mine. He is Allah's Authority on the Earth and His Remainder amongst His servants. He is the son of (Imam) Hassan-ibn-Ali (al-'Askari). This is the very personality by whose hands Allah will open the Easts and Wests of the worlds and this is the very personality who will be absent from his followers and those who love him, in which his mastership cannot be proved by a statement of anyone except for the one whose heart Allah tests for Faith."

Jabir said: "I asked him: 'O' Messenger of Allah will his followers avail of him during his occultation?' He answered: 'Yes. By the One Who appointed me to prophethood, they will seek brightness from his light and will avail by devotion in his absence the same as the availing of people from the (glow of) sun when clouds cover it...'

(Ikmal-ud-Din, vol. 1, p. 253, with nearly similar meaning in Yanabir-ul-Mawaddah, p. 117)

Al-Juwayni also narrates that the Messenger of Allah (s) informed: "I and Ali and Hasan and Husayn and nine of the descendants of Husayn are the purified ones and the inerrant."
[Al-Juwayni, Fara'id al-Simtayn, Mu'assassat al-Mahmudi li-Taba'ah, Beirut 1978, p. 160.]

To be clear: It was Prophet Muhammad (as) who decalred Imam Ali (as) to be Imam of Muslims, and declared that there would be 11 imams after Imam Ali. It was declared multiple multiple times in a variety of sitautions.

I'm sure another Brother or Sister can provide you with a specific quote from teh Quran as well.

The Quran does not explain the Prophethood either, yet you believe in it. Why should the Imammat be unique?
Imam Muhammad Baqir (AS) said:
You are the Shia of Allah, you are the supporters of Allah, and you are the foremost forerunners, the last forerunners, the foremost to the love for us in this world, and the foremost to win Paradise on the Last Day.

More than once, Amir ul-Mu'minin Imam Ali (AS) said to Qanbar 'Be happy and announce this good news. When the Prophet (s) died, he was discontent with all of the individuals of his umma except the Shia.

Why should Ali (as) even HAVE to declare that he's the leader of the muslims if the prophet muhammed (pbuh) did it instead?

Imam Ali (as) has made many declarations in Khutbul Bayan, Nahjul Balaga, etc, but would that be any use to a sunni?

I guess not.

OK Half of u like always have answered to a wrong question, i am not asking what Hazoor pbuh said i am asking why didnt he declared him self the SPEECH ............

I do not believe in what Hazoor said to Jabir and to Kamal and to nasir and to bubbly. they can very well be lying . Due to the condradictions lets put all those ahadits said to a single person in a bag. they can very well be lying or some other person be lying i mean common havent we already cought 1000s of fabricated ahaditss ?????????????

Why would Hazoor pbuh explain all the imamat system to jabir only ?????????????????? were the imams only for jabir.

We are blessed with some words of Hazoor which no shia or sunni can deny and those are usually his speeches at the mosques and at a gathering of muslims which were said in vitness of hundreds of muslim. those are the only ahadits no one can deny.

Imamat speech is not a kind of speech that can be said to one person like jabir lol. if u know hazoor pbuh style to use adress the muslim ummah and teach them new laws and forbade things in a congression after the prayer , in jummah prayer etc etc.. now u think such a big thing as IMAMAT can only be said to jabir. ??????????????????????????

and yea back to the orignal question which no one answered

where is ali ra saying am i am your imam follow me and 12 after me ?????

it is a must for him to say and to declare. Can a imam be an imam who did not even invited any one toward him ????????????? what kind of passenger of imam would not even invite any one towards him and away from kufr ????? ??????

SO LONG FOR 15 years olDs hahahhah :!!!: :!!!: :!!!:

Yes you are right.

Narrative of Ghadir Khom said:

The Farewell Pilgrimage
Ten years after the migration (hijrah), the Messenger of Allah [peace and blessings be upon him and his Progeny] ordered to his close followers to call all the people in different places to join him in his last pilgrimage. On this pilgrimage he taught them how to perform the pilgrimage in a correct and unified form.

This was first time that the Muslims with this magnitude gathered in one place in the presence of their leader, the Messenger of Allah [s]. On his way to Makkah, more than seventy thousand people followed Prophet [s]. On the fourth day of Dhu'l-Hijjah more than one hundred thousand Muslims had entered Makkah.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  Date
The date of this event was the 18th of Dhu'l-Hijjah of the year 10 AH (10 March 632 CE).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  Location
After completing his last pilgrimage (Hajjatul-Wada'), Prophet [s] was leaving Makkah toward Madinah, where he and the crowd of people reached a place called Ghadir Khumm (which is close to today's al-Juhfah).  It was a place where people from different provinces used to greet each other before taking different routes for their homes.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Revelation of Qur'anic Verse 5:67
In this place, the following verse of the Qur'an was revealed:

"O Apostle! Deliver what has been sent down to you from your Lord; and if you don't do it, you have not delivered His message (at all); and Allah will protect you from the people ..." (Qur'an 5:67)
The last sentence in the above verse indicates that the Prophet [s] was mindful of the reaction of his people in delivering that message but Allah informs him not to worry, for He will protect His Messenger from people.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Sermon
Upon receiving the verse, the Prophet [s] stopped on that place (the pond of Khumm) which was extremely hot. Then he sent for all people who have been ahead in the way, to come back and waited until all pilgrims who fell behind, arrived and gathered. He ordered Salman [r] to use rocks and camel toolings to make a pulpit (minbar) so he could make his announcement. It was around noon time in the first of the Fall, and due to the extreme heat in that valley, people were wrapping their robes around their feet and legs, and were sitting around the pulpit, on the hot rocks.

On this day the Messenger of Allah [s] spent approximately five hours in this place; three hours of which he was on the pulpit. He recited nearly one hundred verses from The Glorious Quran, and for seventy three times reminded and warned people of their deeds and future. Then he gave them a long speech.

The following is a part of his speech which has been widely narrated by the Sunni traditionists:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tradition of the Two Weighty Things (thaqalayn)

The Messenger of Allah [s] declared:

"It seems the time approached when I shall be called away (by Allah) and I shall answer that call. I am leaving for you two precious things and if you adhere to them both,  you will never go astray after me. They are the Book of Allah and my Progeny, that is my Ahlul Bayt. The two shall never separate from each other until they come to me by the Pool (of Paradise)."

[See also: Hadith al-Thaqalayn: A Study of its tawatur]

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Acknowledgement of Authority
Then the Messenger of Allah continued:

"Do I not have more right over the believers than what they have over themselves?"
People cried and answered:

"Yes, O' Messenger of God."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Text (nass) of the Designation
Then followed the key sentence denoting the clear designation of 'Ali as the leader of the Muslim ummah.  The Prophet [s] held up the hand of 'Ali and said:

"For whoever I am his Leader (mawla), 'Ali is his Leader (mawla)."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[In some narrations the word used was wali rather than mawla - with the same implication]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Prophet [s] continued:

"O' God, love those who love him, and be hostile to those who are hostile to him."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

These were the key parts of the speech of the Prophet [s]. There are also more detailed versions of this sermon which are recorded by many Sunni authorities.
'Coronation' of Imam 'Ali [a]
[under development]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Revelation of Qur'anic Verse 5:3
Immediately after the Prophet [s] finished his speech, the following verse of the Qur'an was revealed:

"Today I have perfected your religion and completed my favour upon you, and I was satisfied that Islam be your religion." (Qur'an 5:3)

The above verse clearly indicates that Islam without clearing up matter of leadership after Prophet [s] was not complete, and completion of religion was due to announcement of the Prophet's immediate successor.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hassan b. Thabit's poetry
Immediately after the Prophet's speech, Hassan b. Thabit, the Companion and poet of the Messenger of Allah [s], asked for his permission to compose a few verses of poetry about Imam 'Ali [a] for the audience. The Prophet [s] said: "Say with the blessings of Allah". Hassan stood up and said: "O' people of Quraysh. I follow with my words what preceded and witnessed by the Messenger of Allah [s]. He then composed the following verses at the scene:

He calls them, (on) the day of Ghadir, their Prophet
In Khumm so hear (and heed) the Messenger's call,
He said: "Who is your guide and leader? (mawlakum wa waliyyukum)"
They said, and there was no apparent blindness (clearly):
"Your God, our guide, and you are our leader
And you won't find from among us, in this, any disobedient,"
He said to him: "Stand up O' Ali, for I am
pleased to announce you Imam and guide after me (min ba'di imam(an) wa hadiy(an)),
So whomever I was his leader (mawla), then this is his leader (mawla)
So be to him supporters in truth and followers,"
There he prayed: "Allah! Be a friend and guide to his follower
And be, to the one who is Ali's enemy, an enemy"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oath of Allegiance
After his speech, the Messenger of Allah [s] asked everybody to give the oath of allegiance to 'Ali [a] and congratulate him. Among those who did so was 'Umar b. al-Khattab, who said:
"Well done Ibn Abi Talib! Today you became the Leader (mawla) of all believing men and women."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Number of Companions in Ghadir Khumm
Allah ordered His Prophet [s] to inform the people of this designation at a time of crowded populous so that all could become the narrators of the tradition, while they exceeded a hundred thousand.
Narrated by Zayd b. Arqam: Abu al-Tufayl said: "I heard it from the Messenger of Allah [s], and there was no one (there) except that he saw him with his eyes and heard him with his ears."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Revelation of Qur'anic Verse 70:1-3
Some Sunni commentators further report that the first three verses of the chapter of al-Ma'arij (70:1-3) were revealed when a dispute arose after the Prophet [s] reached Madinah. It is recorded that:
On the day of Ghadir the Messenger of Allah summoned the people toward 'Ali and said: "Ali is the mawla of whom I am mawla." The news spread quickly all over urban and rural areas. When Harith Ibn Nu'man al-Fahri (or Nadhr Ibn Harith according to another tradition) came to know of it, he rode his camel and came to Madinah and went to the Messenger of Allah [s] and said to him: "You commanded us to testify that there is no deity but Allah and that you are the Messenger of Allah. We obeyed you. You ordered us to perform the prayers five times a day and we obeyed. You ordered us to observe fasts during the month of Ramadhan and we obeyed. Then you commanded us to offer pilgrimage to Makkah and we obeyed. But you are not satisfied with all this and you raised your cousin by your hand and imposed him upon us as our master by saying `Ali is the mawla of whom I am mawla.' Is this imposition from Allah or from you?"

The Prophet [s] said : "By Allah who is the only deity! This is from Allah, the Mighty and the Glorious."

On hearing this Harith turned back and proceeded towards his she-camel saying: "O Allah! If what Muhammad said is correct then fling on us a stone from the sky and subject us to severe pain and torture." He had not reached his she-camel when Allah, who is above all defects, flung at him a stone which struck him on his head, penetrated his body and passed out through his lower body and left him dead. It was on this occasion that Allah, the exalted, caused to descend the following verses:

"A questioner questioned about the punishment to fall. For the disbelievers there is nothing to avert it, from Allah the Lord of the Ascent." (70:1-3)

Brother Youth of Ali, now see you ruined it for Chi by bringing ABUNDANT proof :D you really expect someone of such limited time (though enough time to hang around here posting on topics that have been discussed many times) to go through all that.... he'll just make up something like he KNOWS it's wrong, but doesn't have time to bring proof. :!!!:

(bismillah)

Brother chirpince007 you can find Imam Ali's saying on calipahte by clicking the below link, enjoy ^_^

http://www.al-islam.org/nahj/3.htm

/.../

Beware! By Alláh the son of Abú Qu<áfah (Abú Bakr)(2) dressed himself with it (the caliphate) and he certainly knew that my position in relation to it was the same as the position of the axis in relation to the hand-mill. The flood water flows down from me and the bird cannot fly upto me. I put a curtain against the caliphate and kept myself detached from it.

But then again, there is no avail in quoting Imam Ali (as) from Nahjul Balaga, that is why we have been quoting from sunni sources, and you still reject them?

i know, I have to keep reminding myself, when I get frustrated with certain people here, that the ones who post are not the ONLY ones reading the threads. Makes it worthwhile to remember that. Thanks for your public service, brother!

Brother YOUTH OF ALI

ok lets say we accept his pbuh last surmon the way u said in ur post, but the problem is we are still stuck at the same place without any progress.

u kno wat a PERFECTION is ?????. any addition or subtraction can only make it worse or less perfect. well this perfect ended without any introduction to shiaism. here is how. even though Hazrat Ali ra was really praised for his deeds by Muhammad pbuh WHERE IS THE PART THERE ARE SOME PEOPLE CALLED IMAMS TO WHOM ALLAHS WORDS ARE REVEALED AND DAT THEY ARE EXACT 12 Etc Etc u kno the usuall shia stuff. SO it was perfected without it ....

secondly Ahl e Bait does not be means the genrations after genration comming from Hazrat Ali ra and Hazrat Fatima ra Dat would be Ahl e Ali . The word used every where is Ahl e Bait. The family of Muhammad pbuh in which lots of people are included including the first 3

here is how

Abu Bakr Father in law to Prophet
Omer Father in law to Prophet
Usman Cousin and 2 times Son in law to prophet
Aisha WIFE of the Prophet

so what makes u think they are not also ahle bait. family includes wife first and son in law later. and what about Usman he is the cousin like Ali and son in law twice while ali is once.

THIRDLY the biggest problem is [Edited Out]E DOUBLE STANDARDSSS

If muhammad praises Ali then its ya ali ya ali ya ali
if muhammad praises some one else and its also backed by quran ( I CAN PROVE IT ) then it dont make any difference its still LA LA LA

DO U EVEN CARE ABOUT WHAT MUHAMMAD THINKS i dont think sooo

If ali is son in law to muhammad then his 11 generation after him are also called ahl e bait
while the closest relatives muhammads WIFE about whom muhammad also said is your mother is not not considered ahle bait

why why why why da double standardsssss. ever think about dat.

For now i will let u answer these and then begin my actuall attack ...

Sorry to butt in, but I'd like to repeat what brother Ultra-Muslim said regarding the "appointment" of the "12 Imams" a while ago:

If they were appointed to rule....and they didn't...what does that tell you? Can anybody change Allah's will?

And yes, wives are part of Ahlul-Bayt according to 33:31-33

LoL, I already discussed that with him in another thread:

Inna nahnu nuhyeealmawta wanaktubu ma qaddamoo waatharahumwakulla shay-in ahsaynahu fee imamin mubeenin (36:12)

No Youth, this verse is NOT referring to your "Imam."

I will give you 6 different translation of that verse to prove my point:

Khalifa
We will certainly revive the dead, and we have recorded everything they have done in this life, as well as the consequences that continue after their death. Everything we have counted in a profound record.

Yusuf Ali
Verily We shall give life to the dead, and We record that which they send before and that which they leave behind, and of all things have We taken account in a clear Book (of evidence).

Pickthal
Lo! We it is Who bring the dead to life. We record that which they send before (them, and their footprints. And all things We have kept in a clear Register.

Shakir
Surely We give life to the dead, and We write down what they have sent before and their footprints, and We have recorded everything in a clear writing.

Sher Ali
Surely, WE alone give life to the dead, and WE write down that which they send forward and that which they leave behind; and all things WE have recorded in a clear Book.

"Progressive Muslims"
It is indeed Us who resurrect the dead, and We record what they have done and left behind. And everything We have counted in a clear ledger.

I think I've discussed this before with someone. By saying that that verse refers to your Imams, you are giving them RELIGIOUS duties, something which they did NOT have. The role of a caliph/duty comes into play AFTER the demise of the Prophet (saw).

Face it. You CANNOT go to Al-Quran, open it up, and justify any of your beliefs.

Brother ya muhammad if Allah choose some one nabi imam etc he takes responsibility and protection of them also, after facing hardship and strugle there comes a time when they win. look upon any massenger of Allah every body struggled but no one got killed no one. their protection was in allahs hands

so either they failed or its just not true.. ifact the history showsss the first 3 imams were themselves not aware of the fact that they were actually imams of dat status and one of the 12.

It's sister ^_^

No, I meant that if the 12 Imams were actually appointed to rule politically, they would have ruled, but they didn't, hence they were not appointed.

I think that you should speak for yourself. I cannot believe how you justify not praying or going to Hajj. just out of curiosity, do you fast or is it not mentioned in your interpretation of the quran?
