thanks 4 da link bro its a very interesting read.  masturbation is a terrible sin and i would hope that all muslims stay away from it.  it can be a hard addiction to break, but alhamdulillah the rewards are immense.

it is simple. You're doing it yourself and it is Haraam to do this, but if you're married. so your wife can do it for you. Haraam is Haraam, but many things becomes Halaal between wife and husband. So I suggest, if you've some sexual desires, better get married.

Thinking more about it, it removes sexual tension from a person wrongfully and misdirects the energy which ought to be directed to your halal partner instead.

Professionals (psychiatrists, meds., pickup artists) highly recommend to QUIT Porn and Masturbation because both of these individually and combined makes you a wuss and make a man incapable of talking let alone picking a halal partner. In other words the more a man watches porn or does masturbation, the more he becomes a loser who would never be able to find a girl or keep his 'arranged' girl happy.

There are reasons why Allah swt declared as haraam.

Not only does it effect your spirituality but it causes physical harm also..........

• The bladder becomes weak and this leads to problems in respect to taharah – Wudhu/ salaah and other Ibaadah. There are many that are suffering with involuntary urinary and seminal discharges due to the indulgence in this sin, and they write mentioning the difficulties that are thereafter encountered.

• Creates weakness in the brain and weakness of memory.

• It causes an excessive loss of sperm by way of nocturnal emission (wet dreams).

Many more effects but this should be sufficient to stay away from this evil sin, also many psychological harms.

Or you could be further stimulated by watching the footage of yourself performing the act. Maybe it worked for the brother in the other thread but I don't see how one can cure oneself from engaging in a haraam activity by simultaneously performing an additional haraam act (in this case, the filming). If someone has a problem with zina', should they remedy the situation by filming themselves "doing the deed" in the hope that it will engender a feeling of revulsion?

Here is what I don't get, but firstly, let me say that I am not trying to say masturbation should be allowed but just confused about this matter. You stated all of these things are the side effects of masturbation on your health but how does that differ from sex?

I mean it's still the same process, not like your reproductive system will react differently during ejaculation if you have a partner or not. Can't those side effects be also applied to real sex with a halal partner because the same process is still taking place?

These substances are very important since they control happiness and such, and it is important that the blood contains a good amount of those substances. However, too much sexual stimulation (and stimulation from other addictive activities such as drugs or even coffee) causes the brain to deplete these substances. Lack of serotonin may lead to depression and unusual behavior, while lack of dopamine may lead to diseases such as parkinson's.

And also, masturbation may lead to back problems, impotency, thoughts corrupted by sexual actions, and asexuality. Serotonin and dopamine are also important factors of alertness.

Porn and masturbation let out a massive amount of those substances, specially dopamine, hence why people get addicted to it. This is the thing, you state all these things but the same chemical reactions are occurring when it's done with a spouse. People can still get corrupted thoughts from real sex.

The only problem I can think of the masturbation causes it premature ejaculation, but everything else doesn't make sense because if they can happen in masturbation then surely it can happen during sex? I think I might make a thread on this.

Much of reasoning behind rules and regulation is not only a physical but also spiritual. I don't know why such things aren't thought these days any more!

In Islam, everyday we pray, we say "gorbatan illalah" which means "for sake of nearness to Allah". And Allah (swt) says in Quran only through self restraint, fasting, consistence prayers and zirk of him,  charity, self purification of oneself we can get closer to him.

Now if you think a little, when you masturbate, you see the spiritual distance from Allah (swt) and that is mainly why it is haram. Nearness to Allah (swt) is the ultimate goal. This is why we Shias follow our Imams. We put them as our role models because they were perfect human beings. By learning from them, being like them, and following them, that is how we near to Allah (swt).

I really don't think we should look for "scientific" reasons  for everything because "scientific reasons" could be fawled or corrupt. I have heard from "scientific community" both arguments for or against masturbation but at the end of the day putting trust in Allah (swt) is what a Muslims does;
