I would like to introduce myself. My name is Latif, I'm a revert for 9 years, Shia for 4. I'm currently a student at the Imam Ali Howza in Florida. I'm new to Florida and new to these forums.
I know many people don't know that there is a Howza in America, I would love to answer any questions anyone might have about the school, classes or anything.

The brother can confirm this..
As far as I've heard, they are working on dorms for the sisters. They have female applicants (I'm not sure if they've started or are still waiting)
They teach arabic and, again the bother can confirm this, they have the beginners courses that you would be taught in Najaf or Qom.
I know a shiachatter who was there for bit...

I would totally do it if I was a few years back. Younger brothers and sisters should try it if they can and support the community.

As to financial assistance, they do not charge anything for the classes. Room and board is covered by the Howza. We get one big mean a day. Your only expenses are your own personal expenses. The Howza provides all the necessities. So no cost.
As to the women, yes there are two female students here right now, one of them being my wife. The classes are coed but their dorms are located in a different building while the classes are in the men's Howza. They are picked up every morning and brought to the main Howza and then taken home after.

This is the second revision of the website, we are actually currently working on completely redesigning it to support class materials for online. So yes some of the links do not work, but all the main information is there. If you have any questions just call and leave a message or send us an email at imamaliseminary at gmail dot com

We are still functioning. The school is closed during the summer break from june until the end of August. And we switched phone numbers. The new phone number is listed on the website. or you can email me or the school at me brilanasdada at gmail dot com or imamaliseminary at gmail dot com. If you call, chances are no one will pick up, but if you leave a message some one will return your phone call. I am the one who monitors the voicemail and every time there is a message I take it to the Sheik or Maulana and have them return the call. 408-475-2642
We have moved to a new location, the address listed on the site is now accurate, we are no longer located on the lake, we are in a gated community on the outskirts of Sanford.
