Meteorite hits Russia with damage. People are debating whether it is a piece of the asteroid and if other meteorites will fall.

According to unconfirmed reports, the meteorite was intercepted by an air defense unit at the Urzhumka settlement near Chelyabinsk. A missile salvo blew the meteorite to pieces at an altitude of 20 kilometers, local newspaper Znak reports quoting a source in the military
Over 400 people sought medical attention as a result of the incident, according to the Russian Interior Ministry. No serious injuries have been reported, with most of the injuries caused by broken glass and minor concussions.

Utter nonsense. Unfortunatety the Russian army's weaponry is subject to the laws of physics. No missile on earth could intercept something like this.

Yup, it's all just a conspiracy, right? What reason do they have to lie again?

If Israel can't shoot down a bunch of Kassam rockets, then its highly unlikely that the Russians were able to intercept the meteorite...perhaps the Russian missile defense system did automatically detect something and that's where these claims are coming from

The Russian military didn't claim to have shot at it. "Unconfirmed reports." The meteor was travelling at a reported 50 000 km/h or so. That's about 14 km/sec, or roughly Mach 40. As a comparison, missile defense systems are designed to hit MIRVs coming in at maybe a couple of km/sec, Mach 4 or roundabout, and success rates in testing are pretty dismal.Yup, it's all just a conspiracy, right? What reason do they have to lie again?

"I wanted a high position in life, I found it in modesty. I wanted leadership, I found it in giving advice. I wanted dignity, I found it in honesty. I wanted greatness, I found it in poverty. I wanted lineage, I found it in virtue. I wanted majesty, I found it in contentment. I looked for peace and found it in asceticism." - Uwais al Qarni

They should place missiles in space to be prepared for this kind of stuff... Didn't they think of something like this in North America a few years back? Something like Star Wars Defence program?
It was called: Project Icarus (`1967)

One major factor in missile intercept is detection of the "boost phase"
