Thanks for the responses, it was from a dua:

...اللهم ادفعهم عنا بحولك وقوتك وبطشك وسطوتك مفرقين ممزقين مبهورين مكهورين مقهورين
Du`a al-Sabasab

It means the object of contempt, one who is reviled, oppressed.

ألا بذكر الله تطمئن القلوب

The ways of the Lord are mysterious

Arrogance - the counter-productive acquisition of those blessed with "knowledge"

I'm having trouble understanding this sentence, specifically that parts talking about tahara.

Could anyone explain it please, thanks.
خُذِ الْعَفْوَ وَأْمُرْ‌ بِالْعُرْ‌فِ وَأَعْرِ‌ضْ عَنِ الْجَاهِلِي

Take to forgiveness and enjoin good and turn aside from the ignorant (7:199)

I have a question about the Arabic word 'aw'.

I know it usually mean 'or', but can mean other things also. Does anyone know other ways it can be interpreted and give examples of sentences please?

Thanks in advance for any help with this.

Click on this link: http://ejtaal.net/m/...110,BR=86,PR=21

You can scroll down and see what the various english-arabic dictionaries say about it, the second one 'Lane's Lexicon' has quite a bit.

Or this: http://corpus.quran....ch.jsp?t=1&q=أو

How it is used in the Qur'an
خُذِ الْعَفْوَ وَأْمُرْ‌ بِالْعُرْ‌فِ وَأَعْرِ‌ضْ عَنِ الْجَاهِلِي

Take to forgiveness and enjoin good and turn aside from the ignorant (7:199)

An urdu oriented introductory lesson is needed for the urdu speakers with girdans to distinguish the grammars of arabic from farsi since urdu takes in chunks from both the languages and fits in the sentence in a consistent manner.

There is a greater majority of people who can only learn this language by self-study and then only if it is an oriented course which builds on the pre-existing knowledge and patterns in urdu for the learning to take-off.
