That guy made my day, haha.

This junk is probably worse for you health wise than one of those "regular burgers" made by Ahlul Kitab.

Ya know, presuming Mickey D's is even Halal.

The Worst Restaurant Of The Year Award Goes To Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC)

Surprisingly, KFC releases their ingredients list online for all to see, because they really have no shame about what they put inside their foods.  Do you think the top executives of KFC actually eat the foods that they produce? I am sure that the number is comparable to the number of doctors willing to take chemotherapy for their own cancer treatments. Here is the ingredients list for chicken bought at KFC:
Seasoning (Salt, Monosodium Glutamate, Garlic Powder, Spice Extractives, Onion Powder), Soy Protein Concentrate, Rice Starch and Sodium Phosphates. Battered with: Water, Wheat Flour, Leavening (Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate, Sodium Bicarbonate, Monocalcium Phosphate), Salt, Dextrose, Monosodium Glutamate, Spice and Onion Powder. Predusted with: Wheat Flour, Wheat Gluten, Salt, Dried Egg Whites, Leavening (Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate, Sodium Bicarbonate), Monosodium Glutamate, Spice and Onion Powder. Breaded with: Wheat Flour, Salt, Soy Flour, Leavening (Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate, Sodium Bicarbonate), Monosodium Glutamate, Spice, Nonfat Dry Milk, Onion Powder, Dextrose, Extractives of Turmeric and Extractives of Annatto. Breading Set in Vegetable oil.
While it is tempting to end this article here, and let this list speak for itself, it is nevertheless prudent for me to explain at least some of these ingredients. From what I can see, the only completely non-toxic ingredients are the onion powder, sodium bicarbonate, and the garlic powder. These are only 3 ingredients out of 29, which means KFC ingredients are only 10% natural, and about 90% chemically "enhanced". This does not take into consideration the chicken itself, which is full of antibiotics, steroids, and growth hormones, in the very least. Please inform us if you see any other remotely healthy ingredients in the list.  Would you like cancer, mental disorders, or cardiac arrest with that, Sir?

The problems with KFC go beyond the fact that their food should be considered unfit for human consumption. Kentucky Fried Chicken is inherently a bad company. According to Kentucky Fried Cruelty, a consumer awareness group, one billion chickens are killed each year for the company. All are crammed into "excrement-filled sheds" where they never see daylight. Many suffer from broken legs and wings due to being too top-heavy, and videos have also shown the routine abuse of animals in which the workers will stomp on chickens, or place them into boiling water to remove the feathers whilst they are still conscious.

Lets not pretend its just American food that is full of rubbish. Most cheaply produced, fast food had stuff in it youre better off not having. But its not just fast food, alot of people use way too much oil when cooking, too much salt and too much refined sugar. Our palates have gotten used to such unnatural stimulation.

This year i made a concerted effort to cut out refined sugar from my diet. I tradtionally have a sweet tooth and was craving like mad at first. I cut out everything i could identify as having refined sugar in it and went to fruit for my daily sugar wants. After about a week i started to notice my taste buds changing, its was like i was tasting the true sweetness of fruit for the first time. Now a ripe mango tastes incredibly sweet to me and a ripe banana very sweet. Some things with refined sugar are much too sweet for me now to have more than a little taste. I had a little bit of topping from an apple crumble on sunday and the sugar was lingering for ages in an unpleasant kind of way. Something i noticed from refined sugar is that it leaves an coating in the mouth and back of the tongue that natural sugars doesnt. I hadnt noticed this before.

That's soooo true!!!! Especially the highlighted bits!

It's well known that all refined foods cause premature aging, so the biggest motivation to cut them out of our diet ought to be - vanity. :P

Oh yes, it's been more than a year, since I last ate anything containing refined sugar. I prefer jaggery as a substitute and I don't even drink the usual tea or coffee - I prefer making my own herbal tea concoctions.Thankfully my mum is a great ally in all my dietary experimentations. :P

Earlier like everyone else we used to consume a lot of polished rice, but now I've replaced even that with the brown one, and it's only whole wheat flour for making bread and tortillas.

I have to admit it isn't easy as I first thought it would be, I get teased by my friends for being on what they call a 'posh diet' :donno: and sometimes it gets a bit lonely when I cannot share in what all my other friends are having, although I am trying my best to lure them into liking what I make - so far not much luck! :(

This is now common knowledge yet we do not stop eating these things... No need to bother... It's like telling smokers repeatedly that cigarettes are bad health-wise, you just get a "so what" look or a "Yeah I'm planning to quit"...

What do you mean only 3 out of 29 are non-toxic?
Salt, wheat flour, egg whites, spices, soy flour, milk, turmeric, wheat gluten, vegetable oil, garlic powder, soy protein, rice starch - these are "toxic," "non-natural" ingredients?

A person shouldn't be making breaded fried chicken a large part of his diet, but there is nothing wrong with it as an occasional item in an otherwise sensible diet.

I could have written that Ruqaya. I did this to both sugar and salt. Now old quantities of both in my food is unbearable to my palate, for better.

Same with oil.

Now, all three must be bare minimum in my food for me to eat and enjoy and I am going to keep it that way. I think it's rather easy to slip and revert to old eating habits.
