Allah, for the Messenger, for the near relative, and the orphans
and the needy and they way farer ..... (Quran 8:41)
I heard that my khums go to ayatullahs ?
Why is this ?
on top of 2.5% sadaqa, 40% british tax, i have a 25% khums tax ?
WHO does my khums go to?
ahsant!
i have already read this http://www.al-islam....hapter6b/4.html
i just want to know who right now it goes to. ahsant.

For example, in your country :
www.ladyfatemahtrust.org/
(proof of the permission is shown in the 'donate' section)
Once you're on the mailing list of this organization you get regular detailed emails about the various projects they're doing around the world. Excellent work, may Allah ÓÈÍÇäå æÊÚÇáì reward them eternally.

can i give my khums directly to the poor and needy?
That's exactly what these organizations (such as the one I mentioned in the previous post) do.
Once you've paid the obligatory khums (one fifth of your annual gain), you can certainly feel free to contribute further with the remaining money.

say i make 10,000
i can't be expected to pay 2,500
i need the 10,000 because i am a student. i need to save money to one day have a family...
what if i make a business and INVEST the money back in?
or if i invest most of it back in, have around 1000 spare, and pay £250 on khums
and do i need to pay a different 2.5% for sadaqah ?
in our country, 40% of our salaries is taxed.

Might be worth going through this for the finer details (what is deductible/ what isn't, etc..) :
http://www.al-islam....es/khums.html#2
Chapter 2 should answer most of your questions, but it's worth reading the whole thing (doesn't take too long)
and do i need to pay a different 2.5% for sadaqah ?
Sadaqah isn't wajib, and the 2.5% is for zakat which is only on certain items (gold coins, silver coins, cattle, crops)

Thank you for the links; just one question for now ---does it mean that jewels are exempt from both Khumus and Zakat ?Generally speaking, it's one fifth of your 'profit' (so the amount of money that you have gained once you deduct all legitimate expenses).

Jewels are exempt from Khums, but to a certain extent; if a lady wears a moderate amount of jewellery, then no khums needs to be paid over that.
However, if she has a considerable amount of gold (more than one requires or needs to wear), or gold which she hasn't worn when the Khums day comes, then Khums needs to be paid over that.
Unfortunately many of our fellow brothers and sister think they can get away with paying Khums by buying gold with their money........
Allah SWT is the best of judges.
