(salam)

This Winter I am planning on visiting my grandmother who lives in Tulsa Oklahoma.  I live near Seattle.  Last year, I flew there and back, but the price on air tickets has gone up nearly $100.  I can't afford this.  Also, I get off school on December 21.  I must arrive on or before December 24th (Christmas is very important to her).  Taking Amtrak wouldn't work as they don't go to Tulsa (and they don't have anything that goes from Seattle to anywhere near Tulsa).  I was thinking about Greyhound which would be less than half the price of air travel for round trip, but I am worried for a few reasons.  One, it's a bus!  I mean, America isn't really that safe, despite what you may have heard.  Secondly, the transfers are relatively close together (i.e. one bus arrives and my next one leaves 20 minutes later).  What if one is late, as is often the case?!  :o

Does anyone know of an alternative way to get from Seattle to Tulsa relatively quick and cheap?

Flights are very expensive the week of Christmas and before. They are at least double than what you would normally pay.

Train and the buses are also not cheap. And they take forever to arrive at the destination.

Why don't you rent a car for a week and drive there by yourself? If you plan ahead, you may get good rates on rental car.
