Ramadan Karim Fellow Members :)

I thought this would be a wholesome topic for us to share...
Dates with plain yogurt is my favourite food to open my fast with... followed by a soup or light meal.

Iltimaase Dua.

Dates and then a quite warm glass of water, and any kind of soup as the meal :)

I have started having a glass of milk first after seeing a programme on BBC where they looked into what the best thing to drink is if youre dehydrated. Apparently its semi-skimmed milk. So i have that and date and greek yoghurt and then a little later a meal.

My secret ingredient is a little known herb, know as allium sativum, it is actually a species from the onion genus, 'allium'. Its close relatives include the onion, shallot, leek, chive and rakkyo. - anyway, stick a load of that in.

You may need to go to a specialist shop to get it.

(I'm talking about the red daal you eat with rice btw)

Pumpkin soup for the world!

I learned there are troubles of more than one kind. Some come from ahead, others come from behind. But I've bought a big bat. I'm all ready, you see. Now my troubles are going to have trouble with me.

Most of the people open their fast with dates.

I make sweet drinks. I don't like dates that much. I also enjoyed soups but I don't feel like having them in the month of Ramadhan.

بسم الله الرّحمن الرّحیم

Assalaamu alaykum,

The Holy Prophet (saww) used to break his fast with dates, and Imam Ali (as) used to break his fast with salt. Personally, I like breaking the fast with the dates as well. The sweetness of the dates and that comforting feeling of following the sunnah of the Prophet (saww) make the perfect beginning to iftar. :D

Wassalam

My grandmother used to make date biscuits and other confectionary from dates before Ramadham started and throughout the holy month we enjoyed them after iftar with tea, for suhuwr etc. i dont know why but dates have some importance in Ramadan.
