I am 21 years old but am growing out a "long beard". My mom told me I should trim it because I'm starting to look like a sunni lol...
Do any of you have long beards but are young?

Goku has no beard.
I learned there are troubles of more than one kind. Some come from ahead, others come from behind. But I've bought a big bat. I'm all ready, you see. Now my troubles are going to have trouble with me.

That is a story spread by many members of our community, there is no basis for it.

YUM.
The Prophet (saws) said “The most pious of people is he who abandons
disputation, even if he is right”
"The calamity of a person is from his own tongue" -Prophet muhammad (saws)
"the believers are brothers, their blood is coequal, and they are one hand against others, the most inferior among them is empowered by them to give [to the enemy] protection"-Prophet Muhammad (saws)
"He who does not accept an apology from someone, be it from an honest or a liar, will not be with me at the heavenly pool (in paradise)"-Prophet muhammad (saws)

I would not worry about what others think. To me, it does not matter if other humans call you a wahhabi, a terrorist, a sunni, or whatever else. Maintaining a long beard is a Sunnah, and your reward is with Allah سبحانه وتعالى. We should live to please our Lord, not men.

This is one of the problems with these pictures of the Imams that are based on nothing more than the imagination of the artist. They give people a completely distorted picture. As far as I know, all the written descriptions of Imam Ali (a) mention that he had a long beard. It certainly wouldn't have been a short trimmed one like you see in those ridiculous pictures.
Now, surely, sincere obedience is due to Allah (alone) and (as for) those who take guardians besides Him, (saying), We do not serve them save that they may make us nearer to Allah, surely Allah will judge between them in that in which they differ; surely Allah does not guide him aright who is a liar, ungrateful. [Qur'an 39:3, Shakir translation]

It is not whether or not he had a long beard. BUt, my point was that it was well kept, no doubt. the kinds of beards scholars (especially sunni scholars) have are long and unkept. If you look at the beards of ayatollahs, their beards may be long, but not obscenely long. and their beards are well kept. and i don't think beards should be about who can grow the longer beard. if it is being kept for sunnah, then people also need to remain hygenic and maintain themselves in appearance.
