that if you die, they weep over you
and if you are alive, they crave for your company."

but if it is about a guy who wants to spend time with me ( however he may claim that it would lead to permanent marriage) , I consider his mutah marriage proposal as a mean to please his sexual desire and in most of Islamic countries , a girl who is virgin, doesn't take such a risk to start a relationship which she already knows that it is not permanent.

by the way, why this topic ? proposing someone for mutaah ?

I don't mind .. but the brother has to speak to my dad.. Mutah is a sunnah and it's highly recommended
by the way, why this topic ? proposing someone for mutaah ?
Really? I think my Dad would have probably beat the living daylights out of a guy that would have proposed muta to me or my sister
I was just discussing this with some single friends earlier and received a mixed response, curious what the opinion is on the ladies here

Mutaa is looked down in the cultures these days .
It shouldn't be .. it's a sunnah .. an act that our imam's did .

YES I will find it highly offensive. If we knew each other and he knows that I've never been married b4 and despite this asked such a question I will be offended.Would you be offended if a guy proposed mutah marriage to you?
Am sick and tired of this narrative that says 'the prophet and our imams did mutah'. NO they did not do mutah. there's no solid evidence for this except assumptions. those who say this say it based on their assumptions, they should fear Allah. its a great sin to lie or accuse the prophet and the imams of something when there's no proof they did or said it. its enough of a sin to reserve one a place in the hell fire, you have been warned sis.Mutaa is looked down in the cultures these days .

I totally agree with you, I love being a Shia but I just dont like this idea or at least the way its portrayed today of muta. When I talk to sunni girls this is the bit I struggle to defend.
I mean what would the girl possibly get out of being in muta? I understand the benefits to men but not women.

imam ali advised his companions to do it during the battle ..as far as I know..
plus, our scholars are encouraging mutaa ..
mutaa can be a solution for many of today's youth problems (if it wasn't looked down in our culture)

But how many of our men are engaged in battle?
Perhaps it looked down on because of the seedy ways that brothers go about doing it

Just because mutah is abused, doesn't make it haram or makrooh.
I agree with Mona. I would treat it very similarly to a permanent marriage proposal.
i love how you mentioned my real name
yeah , plus doing mutaa is way better than making zina.. right ?! i mean if mutaa wasn't abused in our culture, 80% of the youth would have a halal relationship instead of doing zina behind their parents back

But the point is that it is abused in our culture, hence the hostility towards it

no it's fine
But the point is that it is abused in our culture, hence the hostility towards it
well , you're the one making it look bad when you hate upon it ..hence, abusing it .. I mean there are different types of abusing .

No I dont hate muta - I dont like the way it is abused by men today. I imagine that you have read the stories on how guys on here have used muta to exploit women, using it as an excuse to be promicious
