first that smile on your face looked stupid...now it looks evil!!!!
it doesnt matters hehe
Rabbit's meat is haram and therefore selling it is haram, too. Moreover, Its meat is 100% unhealthy.
Rabbit is a small animal and does not have much fur. Keeping them is very difficult, too. You can keep and raise sheep instead (according to traditional medicine, mutton is the best and the most healthy meat).
sheep farming hhmmmm may be thats an add up.....
ISLAM doesnt says rabbit meat is haram.
It's NOT haram. There's a very famous food in Egypt known as "Mulukhiya Bil Aranib" which is Spinach & Rabbit Meat
The Prophet [saas] ate rabbit according to Bukhari and Muslim.

Wasalam
"Knowledge is the comrade of the faithful believer, clemency is his supporter, patience is the commander of his army, lenience is his brother, and charity is his father"- IMAM ALI (a.s)
57: 4. He it is who created the heavens and the earth in six periods, and He is firm in power; He knows that which goes deep down into the earth and that which comes forth out of it, and that which comes down from the heaven and that which goes up into it, and He is with you wherever you are; and Allah sees what you do.

If you are Sunni then it may be ok for you. Shias generally stay away from rabbit, Bukhari and Muslim.

Emu farming could be a good idea, their eggs and meat could be seen as 'trendy' (maybe) - but either way, you would need a lot of land for them
but watch your back, I mean would you trust this face?

The price of sheep is quite high right now, even in india (I think) so starting up a sheep farm would cost quite a bit of money.

I will stick with sheeps and will seek permission for rabbit farming from my leader.

"I wanted a high position in life, I found it in modesty. I wanted leadership, I found it in giving advice. I wanted dignity, I found it in honesty. I wanted greatness, I found it in poverty. I wanted lineage, I found it in virtue. I wanted majesty, I found it in contentment. I looked for peace and found it in asceticism." - Uwais al Qarni

He's an Isma`ili (Bohra). From what I gather they consider rabbit meat to be allowed.

Good luck with Emu farming. They take quite long to mature and need a lot of space, food, care and investment. They also need a market, i.e., people willing to buy their meat. Goat and sheep farming is a much safer bet. I'm told that goat farming is a business recommended by Imam Ali
. He said something like that a goat gives two kids on average so if you keep 200 goats you will be able to sell 1 goat every day. I know I can easily live like a king if I could manage that. One goat of the medium-smaller breed (Nubian) is roughly for 150$ depending on its weight. There are guide books available on goat farming. Fish and prawn farming is also a good idea. It comes down to the market and eating habit of the locals imho.
can u please again explain how 200 sheeps or goat breed and I can sell 1 every day?

yes true our fiqah allows it.
but I will again seek permission from our leader his holiness Dr syedna muhammed burhanuddin(tus)

I hope that he wont allow you to raise rabbits.
As to that hadeeth, I said in another topic that it can not be true. Rabbit's meat is full of microbes.
Raising goats is a good choice. They are more smart and strong than rabbits. They also become easily frendly.
raising rabbit was one of my childhood dreams
look how cute they are? and imagine whole of ur farm is full of these cute creatures

I hope that he wont allow you to raise rabbits.

i dont know on what basis u are saying rabbit meat is harmful, coz what ever i have read on internet it says its healthy, even my government gives subsidy on raising raabbits.

Yes, they are too cute and funny and at the same time, very defenseless and miserable. I love them too much and I think that the best thing we can do for them is to let them have their natural life.
I have had rabbits. I know them and I am sure that their meat is very unhealthy.
Where are you from? I am going to send a letter to your government. How do they kill rabbits?
I am from India

& lizards too.
OP: How about lizard (Dabb) farming and selling it on to Saudi Arabia.
Do barter, 10 lizards for a barrel of crude.

It has not been stated anywhere that rabbit's meat is not allowed. The Sunni brethren hunt and eat rabbit meat. Maybe this fatwa by Agha Sistani is based on one of Imam Ali's sermon where he prescribed that the animals ear's are disproportionate to his feet or something on these lines which I can't remember accurately and does not necessarily deem that this information is accurate.

Rabbit meat has been haram in Islam since the time of Prophet Musa
So is the fish which has no scales such as cat fish and lobster etc.
Sunnis eat all the above three haram things besides eating reptiles such as Dabb lizard. So don't ever go by Sunni "brothers" fatwa.

Nice plan you have though (just change your animals choices).....my husband and I wish to have enough land near a good water source to farm animals and have a huge garden....inshallah one day we can get away from all of the hustle and bustle.
