In Letter 31, Nahjul Balagha:
The greatest achievement of your character is that the hostility of your brother against you does not overcome the consideration and friendship you feel towards him, and his ill-treatment of you does not overbalance your kind treatment to him.
Something people on this forum should consider - with all the hostility to one another, the better person is whom maintains love and friendship even when others are hostile towards him.

So if a friend is someone who could be a bad influence upon you, it is better to stay friends and risk sinning or leaving the friendship?
