whats baffling is that you can legally buy VPN's in Iran, r other proxie software. Not sure why they dont just open it up if they have lifted the ban on VPN's.

Not to try to be the center of attention or anything, but how about instead of continuing the "you're a hypocrite / no I'm not" bickering, we comment on some of the points I raised in post #87? What do people think of my suggestions as a better way for Iran to try to pursue legitimate aims?
Unless someone has another line they'd like to explore.

To add, here is an example of a free market private solution to this sort of problem undertaken within the Orthodox Jewish community in the NYC area of the US:
http://www.wired.com...internet-rally/
http://www.thejnet.com/

The second link is a company mentioned in the first article. It's a private ISP (Internet Service Provider) company targeted to Orthodox Jewish clients. Imagine! Believing people want help to be able to use the internet as a tool, while keeping a clean experience. They FREELY choose the private ISP solution that caters to the needs of their particular market niche instead of trying to force a level of control on everybody.

YouTube, Facebook, or Twitter are political instruments of the Western system that push forth the interests of the very same system. Any country that could do without them would be better off in the long run. China, for example, has its own version of those sites and hence they are immune from their propagation.

I agree with you concerning Twitter and the like being used as western propaganda tools.  Although, restricting these sites will make many people unhappy, letting these site operate freely will cause even more problems.  The have been speaking with  a fork tongue for a very long time.  Zionist jews own each of the aforementioned websites and each has been awarded with various honors from various friends of Israel organizations.  No good can come from giving these vipers free rein inside Iran.

Down with all the munafiqoon and the enemies of Islamic system. Let them rot in the perpetual slavery of ibless, here and in hereafter.

I'm just plain sick of bunch of retards constantly attacking the only Islamic system existing in the globe.

Go dip yourself in the filth of ibleesi system and eat out from the secretions of ibleesi slaves.

If you don't like the leadership of the ulema, then tough luck, because this is here to stay till the last day of the planet earth inshAllah.

Once upon a time I once used to think, naively, that internet censorship was wrong.

Then one day I visited a site, whose address I'm not going to give out, in any way. But it starts with an "r".

That was one of the most memorable (not in a good way) experiences of my life.

Thereafter, I immediately became 100% pro-censorship.

I still feel nauseous when thinking back to that day.

Internet experts will understand what I'm talking about.

People are assuming the western world is free, sorry but that is simply not true. Yes there is plenty of freedom to gamble, listen to and watch haram things, everything that goes against the ethos of islam, but politically and religion wise, there is no freedom per se.

There is a huge online censorship programme in west, you are spied on by intelligence agencies planted in your communities, your calls and emails are monitered, more plans are on the way to increase surveilance, and not just for muslims or specific groups, but for all citizens.  Infact google reported just last year that disturbingly the biggest demands to hand over personal info, or close down websites, came from the western democratic countries!  So much for freedom!

Whats more, your comments on certain issues could cost you your jobs, you can be arrested and detained indefinately on mere suspicion, without knowing the charges against you, the media usually toes the official line, secret renditions and torture abroad are all just coming to light, the list is looong, but People who think western countries are a bastion of freedom and human rights are living in a utopian world and need a dose of reality check. It is anything but!
