In the past, i've tried waking up for morning prayers and I did so with good frequency. But, say, half (if not more) of the times I wake up, I cannot fall back asleep.
This is not so bad on weekends. But i'm a student and having to study when you are half asleep is absolutely impossible. I stopped waking up because it was interfering with my health, my studying, and it just generally made me tired all day on such days.
Opinions, please. Both parents have told me that I have to perform the prayers, and i'm not sure what to do.
thanks.

Try to sleep early so that you don't need to fall back asleep after namaz. Use this time to study instead.

thanks for the suggestion, but i don't see this as practical. after all, salah ends around 5:50. i really don't want to be sleeping at 10 pm everyday for obvious reasons.

plus, since i live with family, it's impossible as everyone is loud and awake at this time.

For some people, if they are tired enough they will sleep. I wasn't aware namaz time ended so early. Why can you not fall asleep, is it a natural thing for you or is something keeping you up? You cannot make up your namaz every day, this is a difficult situation.

natural thing for me. i've experimented a lot with my sleeping. a few weeks ago i tried it again. kept lights off, wudhu, straight to bed afterwards hoping for some good news.

stayed up for nearly 2 and a half hours!

Siesta.... All you need is a power nap in the middle of your waking time, say right after asr salat or right after isha. Sleep just for 30-45 min. This will keep you going for till late night and also will wake up for Fajr fresh. Then do not go back to sleep after Fajr, pick some workout or net surfing.

Hope this helps.

this i have to admit, though i have tried, i have not tried very often. i'll definitely try this again, though i'm not very optimistic.

by the way salah begins around 4:40.

Thanks for the suggestion. Still taking advice.

It is extremely difficult for me to nap during the day. I can do it on occasion, but most of the time it doesn't really help just because I cannot fall asleep.

Sorry to be negative about most suggestions, but i'm a sensitive sleeper and i've played around with my sleeping habits quite a bit.

u need to try it for a while becaus eur body needs to adapt to a new sleeping pattern. dont keep switching until uve tried something for at least 2 weeks to determine if it works for u. we're on british summer time at the moment so thats why salah is around 3.30 for us.

It is indeed a habit you need to develop.
A protection and help for falling asleep (evening, after fajr,... or when you cannot get into sleep.) 7 x Al-Fatiha, 7 x Ayat al-Kursi and 7 x Qul Huwa. Works miracously.

Sister AR is correct. You need to give yourself time to adjust. You may not fall asleep the first or second day but after some time your body will be too tired to resist. Most people will be finishing up school, if you are concerned about your performance in class, try it during the break. InshaAllah, it will work out for you.
