Aslamalaykum,

From authentic narrations from the books of Ahle sunna,  all titles are used for Imam Ali a.s more than anyone. The Holy Prophet s.a.w.w covered the position from every angle, that Imam Ali a.s is the caliph after him.

He has used the following:

Mawla
Wali
Khalifa
Akhi
Wasi
Wazier
Sayyed
etc

Here are some of the narrations which cover those titles, please contribute by only using authentic narrations from their books.

Here is a narration with the word Khilfa:

ثنا محمد بن المثنى حدثنا يحيى بن حماد عن أبي عوانة عن يحيى ابن سليم أبي بلج عن عمرو بن ميمون عن ابن عباس قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم لعلي أنت مني بمنزلة هارون من موسى إلا أنك لست نبيا إنه لا ينبغي أن أذهب إلا وأنت خليفتي في كل مؤمن من بعدي

"The Prophet Muhammad (SAWAS) said to Ali, you are in the same position to me as Haroon was to Musa, except that you are not Prophet, and you are my khalifah on every believer after me"

Kitaab as-Sunnah, by Ibn Abi 'AaSim as-Shaybaani, Hadith #1188, page 565

Grading: Shaykh Al-Abaani in his Tahqeeq (Authentication) of Kitaab as-Sunnah has graded the following Sanad as Hasan

Here is a narration with the word Sayyed in it:

We have a narration in Imam Hakim where all the narrators are Thiqaat......

Narrated abul hasan ahmed ibn al-khidhr al-shafi'i narrated ibnrahim ibn abi taleb and muhammed ibn ishaq narrated abu abdilleh muhammed ibn abdilleh ibn umayyah al-qurashi in "saqa" narrated ahmed ibn yahya ibn ishaq al-halwani narrated abu al-azhar and it was narrated by abu ali al-mazki from abi al-azhar he said narrated abdurrazzaq narrated ma'mar narrated zuhri from ubaid ibn abdilleh from ibn abbas r.a he said: The prophet looked at ali and said : Oh ali you are a master in this life and the hereafter , your lover is my lover and my lover is the lover of Allah and your enemy is my enemy and my enemy is the enmy of Allah , woe to whoever hated you after me.

Now Imam Dhahbi also said narrators are thiqat & admitted that the hadith is upon the condition of the 2 sheikhs, while he said this he said this hadith is munkar & fabricated.

Ajeeb without giving any reasons for his justification he decided to just reject the hadith (what kind of justice is this, without a valid reason they reject the words of the Holy Prophet s.a.w.w

Here is a narration with the word wali in it

Verily, 'Alee is from me and I am from 'Alee, AND HE IS THE WALI OF ALL BELIEVERS AFTER ME.

This has been graded Sahih by Sheikh Al-albaani.

What your eyes see and ears hear, makes your mind believe but it's not the reality always.

Imam Ali a.s said: Silence will create respect and dignity; justice and fairplay will bring more friends; benevolence and charity will enhance prestige and position; courtesy will draw benevolence; service of mankind will secure leadership and good words will overcome powerful enemies.

Aslamalaykum,

Other tiltes used for Imam Ali a.s which I forgot to mention in my OP:

Imam al Mutaqeen
Amir ul Momineen

Please only post authentic narrations from their books, we wanna make this strong case as possible, leaving them no excuses on the day of judgement, that the Holy Prophet s.a.w.w covered the leadership of Imam Ali a.s from every angle.

Aslamalaykum,

Another title which was given by the Holy Prophet s.a.w.w to Imam Ali a.s, with hasan chain is Sadiqque ul Akbar

Imam al-Suyuti has recorded in his Jami al-Saghir, No. 5148:

الصديقون ثلاثة: حبيب النجار مؤمن آل يس الذي قال: "يا قوم اتبعوا المرسلين"، وحزقيل مؤمن آل فرعون الذي قال "أتقتلون رجلا أن يقول ربي الله"، وعلي بن أبي طالب، وهو أفضله

The Siddiques are three: Habib al-Najjar, the believer from the family of Yasin, who said: `O my people! Follow the Messengers (of God);' Izekiel, the believer from the family of Pharaoh, who said: `Do you intend to kill a man just for saying that his Lord is Allah?,' and `Ali ibn Abu Talib, who is superior to all of them.

Title of Maula

"Whomsoever I am his mawla, Ali is also his mawla. O Allah, love him who loves him, and hate him who hates him".

Al-Albani has declared this hadith, verbatim, to be sahih, in his Silsilah al-Ahadith al-Sahihah, Vol. 4, p. 331, No. 1750
What your eyes see and ears hear, makes your mind believe but it's not the reality always.

Where do you see dirty language?

Bukhari used (Aleyhi Salam') after Ali (as) name - Why do you use (ra)?

You guys use obscene language for the companions of the Prophet s.a.w and the mothers of believers.

We use 'alayhis salam' for Prophets of Allah only.

Normal Yahood and Mushrikeen are better than you guys. They don't insult the Wives of our Prophet s.a.w the way you do.

Perhaps Bukhari made a mistake there. He was not an infallible imam.

And then you guys complain that terrorist wahabis blow you up. If you insult their revered personalities, then not every person has patience to tolerate that.

By that logic, are normal yahood and mushrikeen better than some wives, of the Prophet (pbuh), who insulted and perhaps slandered other wives? What is the case for the wives that did this and insult the Prophet (pbuh)? Or does that not matter to you?

Not every person has the patience? Your beliefs do not teach patience! What more can you expect from a people who emulate large, varying groups equally; yet those groups prosecuted, waged wars and murdered each other, for the sake of religion? What kind of religion is that?

Sa'b (insulting) is wrong and Haraam, pointing out what they did, and La'nat is halal. And we don't dislike all the wives, just some that messed up royally. And the Qur'an also condemns them in 66:3-5. Also, a lot of them don't know what said wives did.

Quote

Perhaps Bukhari made a mistake there. He was not an infallible imam.

When the Qur'an says it wants to keep impurities away from Imam Ali (as) and the Ahlul Bayt in 33:33:

33:33:And stay in your houses and do not display your finery like the displaying of the ignorance of yore; and keep up prayer, and pay the poor-rate, and obey Allah and His Messenger. Allah only desires to keep away the uncleanness from you, O people of the House! and to purify you a (thorough) purifying.

Or when Allah declares Imam Ali (as) as the Nafs of Rasool (pbuh) in 3:61:

3:61:But whoever disputes with you in this matter after what has come to you of knowledge, then say: Come let us call our sons and your sons and our women and your women and our near people and your near people, then let us be earnest in prayer, and pray for the curse of Allah on the liars.

To add the word use is Anfusana, which comes from Nafs, which means "Self", Imam Ali (as) is declared the Self of the Prophet (pbuh) .

Or when the Prophet (pbuh) says:

Anas Ibn Malik narrated:
I was serving the Messenger of Allah and a roasted bird was presented to the Messenger of Allah. He said, “O Allah, bring me the most beloved of your creation to share with me this bird.” I said, “O Allah, make it a man from the Ansar.” Ali, May Allah be pleased with him, came and I said to him, “The Messenger of Allah is engaged in something.” He came again and I said, “The Messenger of Allah is engaged in something.” He came again and the Messenger of Allah said, “Open the door,” and so he entered and the Messenger of Allah said, “What is your business, O Ali?” He said, “This is the third time I came by and each time Anas sent me away. He claimed you were engaged in something.” He said, “Why did you do what you did?” I said, “O Messenger of Allah, I heard your supplication and I liked it to be someone from my people.” The Messenger of Allah said, “The man loves his people.” (This Hadith is authentic to the standards of the two Sheikhs Bukhari and Muslim but they do not report it. It was narrated from Anas by more than thirty companions and the Hadith has been authentically narrated through Ali, Abu Saeed al-Khudhri, Safeena and Thabit al-Banani)
(Mustadrak Al Sahihain Volume 3 Hadith Number 4650 page 119)

Or when the Prophet (pbuh) says that Imam Ali is to him like Harun was to Musa, except there is no Prophet after him. Which is recorded in:

Muruju'dh-Dhahab, Volume II, page 49, Halabi in Siratu'l-Halabiyya, Volume II, pages 26 and 120, Imam Abdu'r-Rahman Nisa'i in Khasa'isu'l-Alawiyya, page 19, Sibt Ibn Jauzi in his Tadhkira, pages 13-14, Sulayman Balkhi Hanafi in Yanabiu'l-Mawadda, chapter 9 and 17 and more.

Or the many other Fada'il there are, I think it's safe to say Alaihis Salaam.

And from Muhammad b. al-Hasan and `Ali b. Muhammad from Sahl b. Ziyad and from Muhammad b. Yahya from Ahmad b. Muhammad all from Ja`far b. Muhammad al-Ash`ari from `Abdullah b. Maymun al-Qaddah and from `Ali b. Ibrahim from his father from Hammad b. `Isa from al-Qaddah from Abu `Abdillah عليه السلام.  He said: The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وآله said: Whoever travels a path seeking knowledge in it, Allah تعالى will make him travel a road to the Garden.  And the angels set their wings for the seeker of knowledge, pleased with him.  And whoever is in the heavens and whoever is in the Earth seeks forgiveness for him, even the fish in the sea.  And the virtue of the learned over the worshiper is as the virtue of the moon over all of the stars on a full-moon night.
