One of the things I love about my family is that wherever in the world we are, whether we're Muslim, Jewish or Zoroastrian we're all damn proud of being from Yazd. ;)

So, any Yazdis on Shiachat? Or is that hoping for too much?

What does that have to do with anything? I'm talking about YAZD. As in the city. Not Yazid....

No worries, it's a city in Iran.

Cause you know, I would totally post threads about how much I love Yazid on a Shia forum. :P

EDIT: jannahismygoal is right, it's the name of a province and its capital.

Unfortunately not. I can do a really bad impression of one though; it randomly comes out whenever I visit. My mum says it embarrasses her to be around me when it does.

haha, I think it sounds interesting, along with the Esfahani accent. I don't speak farsi, but I have two friends who are Yazdi, and they have the accent. It's awesome, because its very distinct.

Sorry for derailing the thread.

You're not! I do love the accent, I wish I knew how to do it properly. My mum's side has a bit of Esfahani if you go back 5 or 6 generations but we don't like to talk about it.

Yeah I go back to Iran 3 times a year and always make a point of staying there for at least a week each time. I love the city, although the people annoy me sometimes.

Have you ever been to Iran?

I really like Yazdi and Isfahani accent , they almost sing instead of speaking. :shifty:

but I hate Mashhadi accent, over here most of people have that accent unfortunately.

Always felt that Yazd has been neglected. Probably the most underrated city in Iran.

It's a raw, original, ancient, and is historically and culturally rich. If anyone visits Iran, I'd recommend them to visit Yazd over any other city in Iran. Yeah, that includes overrated Isfahan!

Do you live in Mashhad? My sister studies there. (And yeah I agree the accent isn't particularly pleasant.)

LOL @ Malang, i read titiumir post in the technical support forum before i saw this thread, and i scratched my head wondering why it was amusing that Malang was sending lanat on Yazid. Now, having looked at this thread i realise its funny-ness'. haha

anyhus, i hate the esfahani accent, the Mashad one is cute, but i don't understand it, its almost like 'Dari'.
Also have a problem with turkish, lorr and rashti (gaylaki) accents, even when they are speaking farsi lol.

Tehrani all the way baby, forget these shahristani lehjas lol (i can't talk, i have a thick arab accent when i speak, though i can pull of Tehrani and Esfahani on good days).
