salaam alaikum brothers and sisters,

i was in a lecture today and the lecturer talked about an incident.
he said, during yazid(la)'s caliphate, abdullah ibn umar went to yazid(la) and told him that the way he was abusing ahlulbayt (as) because they didnt give bay'ah or allegiance to him was wrong and haraam. Yazid (la) then went and took out a letter and give it to Abdullah ibn umar and told him that this is the letter your father umar gave to my father muawiyah(la). In that letter, umar had described amongst other thing, what the plan was to force bay'ah from ahlulbayt (as) to Abu bakr and what happened that night.

Apparently in that letter, umar describes what the plan was on how to force ahlulbayt (as) to give allegiance to Abu bakr and also describes what happened when they carried out the plan, including the abuse he(umar) gave to lady Fatima(AS), as in how he burnt down the door and pushed it onto her.

IS this true? did umar right a letter to muawiyah (la) describing all this stuff. any references?

Your help will be appreciated jazkallah.

wa-salaam

Sounds like a load of bullox, especially if there is no source attached to this. And by source I mean a real source...not something Zakirs (especially the Desi variety) say or something written hundreds of hundreds of years after the events/Era of the Imams [as].

Also unlikely because, If I recall correctly, Ibn `Umar was the first companion still alive to give bay`ah to Yazeed (لعنه الله)

You should of approached the lecturer after his presentation? Or perhaps you didn't have time or the question slipped your mind?

I have never heard of this personally Brother. InshAllah more knowldebable people than I will respond and provide answers.

Yh i forgot to approach him, and i think he left anyways. yh i have never heard of this myself and i cant find any sources on the internet yet. there are some on the incident i mentioned above, of abdullah bin umar sending a letter to yazid (la) about him committing a grave sin by killing imam hussain (as) and yazid (la) replies telling him that his father did similar by abusing ahlulbayt (as). and from then on abdullah bin umar supported yazid (la). but theres no mention if the letter from umar to muawiyah (la)
