The national internet has been in the pipeline for over a year, but this is the first I am hearing of shutting down the standard internet.

Edit: and Ugly Jinn is an idiot.

Being a technology enthusiast, and making a 100% HALAL living off the Internet. I am glad I wasn't born to this scumbag country. I have been becoming even more sick of Iran recently. Because more particularly, I have become sick of their anti-Israel and anti-US rhetoric. Because I now only see it, as a way, to control their own Youth as well as other foolish Shia Youth living here in Pakistan and elsewhere.

Come on, Dude, If you are really serious to take on Israel, why the heck don't get into wars, than making stupid speeches, over and over and over again. Iran would never go into war with Israel, but then why the fuss.?

I was hoping, Iran would or at least has the potential to become a modern and ideal Muslim state in the world. But they have fallen trapped to their clergy. Which like wahabies Mullahs only want zombies around them, than any reasonable or rational person.

"scumbag country" ammate, nekbat. jaddo abadete

BTW nice logic. "Don't oppose something unless you're gonna go into war with it." Brilliant.

But then again, if Iran DID start a war, I am sure you would criticize such a reckless, brazen act, yes? No?

It's a timeless truth: haters gonna hate.

^ I loved those speeches, until I realized those are only words, without any action. I don't see it happening ever. I am not a war-mongering  person ;) but hey! can we just shut up, when actually we can't contribute to the world, other than religious fanaticism and even worse, suicide bombing. What has Iran given to the world. This very website is running on a software made by american company. This very website is running on server, hosted by american companies. You  and I are writing these message on computer made by American companies..... why the fuss... what make Iranian or 'us' feel proud about us. Except for we assume, we are the best people in the eyes of Alllah and Imam Hussain (as). Its your assumption the least to say.

How does shutting down information access to its own citizens translate into getting ready for war against foreign opponents? Seems more like a domestic control attempt.

The lies of the media deposed Ben Ali, Gaddafi, Mubbarak, and almost caused (and may still cause) the fall of Assad and Bahrains king? Really?

Are you sure it wasn't decades of injustice, marginilization, corruption, overwhelming poverty etc. etc., all reaching a tipping point amongst the frustrated people?

Iran denies has plan to cut Internet access

http://www.google.co...6578161eb03.3b1

The reports derived from a supposed interview with Communications Minister Reza Taghipour published on April 1 that was in fact a hoax, the ministry said in the statement on its own site www.ict.gov.ir -- which itself was not accessible outside of Iran.

"The report is in no way confirmed by the ministry" and is "completely baseless," the ministry statement said.

Ironic how they accuse us of trying to censor information and yet they block Irani government websites from being accessed overseas. Hyporites!

People like "geek" shame upon you and your family, I am glad you are becoming sick of Iran. These are dangerous times and Allah is filtering out all those fake Muslims and pretenders so that when the real events go down, only true and loyal supporters remain. I love how time and time again these media outlets come forward with FAKE news and everybody quickly jumps on the "lets bash Iran" bandwagon. How many times must you people be fooled? Shame upon all of you!

lol

So many of these reports turn out to be untrue. I remember the hype in the western media about Iran enforcing an 'Islamic hairstyle', but it turned out just to be a guidance for ppl serving in the civil sector or something. I guess the gullible fools here would fall for anything and start bashing the Islamic Republic.

I don't think you "loved" those speeches. In fact, I don't think you are a Muslim either, or someone who is anything else than an idiot. "When we can't contribute to the world" lol. Iran has contributed, and today contributes, more than the majority of countries to the world in scientific inventions, as well as enabling certain peoples to be free from foreign occupation. Iran has certainly contributed more than you and your stupid neocon heroes. Who have only "contributed" war, slavery, aggression, propaganda, genocide and such things to the world.

I take it you don't understand economics, or you wouldn't be bringing up the "computer made in the US" thing. If you go by your stupid logic, then China is the biggest "contributor" to the world, since everything we are doing is on China manufactured things. Iran is one of the very few countries which has manufactured its own chips. Something that you or your neocon heroes wouldn't be able to do in a million years.

Little further explanation for everyone involved in this thread.

If you really go thru my above messages, they weren't particulary targeted at Iran, in fact I was addressing the whole Muslim Ummah doesn't matter Shia or Sunni country. Of course I criticised Iran, because it is the country I have great hopes for. However, I believe, no one has the right to take the liberty away from any one. And any action in any country either in Paksitan or Iran or elsewhere, that undermines the liberty of their people should be condemned.

The way, Iran is using religion to Govern people is something I cant' settle with. I may be wrong, my opinions may be wrong. But I am still entitled to my opinions like everyone else. Despite, corrupt and feabile Govts here in Pakistan, I will still appreciate the fact, that we Pakistanies have a lot more liberty than usually is offered in other Muslim countries. We can literally abuse our political leaders from President to local MP the way we want both on TV and on the Internet. And I can't see, If the shia living here in Pakistan are any worse than living in Iran.

Hello Ugly Jinn,

Really? Wouldn't that hurt their economy though? Here in the USA, much buying and selling is done on the internet. That is not the case in Iran?

Peace and God bless you
