Sometimes I feel like I want to return back to the deen. It's not that I don't believe in God.. it's a bit deeper than that. I just couldn't follow him anymore. Should I bother trying to go back or should I just bank on

well obviously everyone here  would tell you to come back. its not much of a question.

If you really want to decide, think about why you left Islam, and determine weather it was a good reason or not, if not then look more into the issue. For example, was it because of the stupid actions  of Muslims?, that is not a good reason. Or did you genuinely find errors in the religion itself?  If you do think it was justified, then its your decision to make,
God help you

The difference between a True believer and a Disbeliever is defined by a fine margin, you lost faith because maybe you started to think about God too much, which we all know, we cant understand God the more we think about Him(his existence ect) the more we are Lost...I believe you crossed the border all you gotta do is stop and step back in side...Allahs doors of Mercy are always open.

Salams...
so first of all as you yourself admit, you're not an atheist. you believe in a being that created you and gave you your individuality etc... there are then times where you feel like practicing and acknowledging your creator and just how madly amazing such a being must be .... however for some reason there are times (most of the time) where you feel you dont want to practice or acknowledge this being that is the source of everything. moreover correct me if im wrong, you feel like you cant follow/acknowledge him even though as some may put it, nothing exists but Him.

I dont know you, I have no idea what your going through but what i do know is that following and acknowledging your Creator isn't as simple as i may have made out above. moreover depending on our own actions we may also be "distanced" as you alluded to in your above quote. but that distancing has a wisdom behind it. it mayb serving as a reminder to you that something you may be doing in your life is effecting your relationship with your creator. just the mere recognition of this "distancing" is a mercy from your creator, a lesson for you to take heed, that something your doing isnt quite right.

therefore ask yourself what is stopping you from recognising and being with your Creator. arguably the most fulfilling and natural state a human can ever be in.

A man came to the Prophet (pbuh) who was so old that his eyebrows covered his eyes, and he said that he committed every sin there was. He asked the Prophet (pbuh) if there was a chance that he may be saved from hellfire, and the Prophet said that if he believes, does good deeds, and abstains from evil, Allah will forgive him. God created us, carried us through the good and sorrow, maintained our blessings put a road for us ahead. He does not need your worship, He depends on nothing, but you need Him, and following His religion will only make your position better in this life and the next.

As long as a heart is not void and empty [of light]. Fill it with the Compassion and Wisdom of God. Least, you might understand and keep your roots firm in the ground this time. Why then would He sent a servant by the name of a Prophet in order to save mankind [from their own mischief]?

[39:53] Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah . Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful."
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

The heart of man earns whatever it strives for and its destination ends at its contentment. Those who seek God shall find God, those who seek an argument shall find an argument, and those who seek a reply shall find a reply, God says:

"So let anyone who wishes take the way toward his Lord. But you do not wish unless it is wished by Allah. Indeed Allah is all-knowing, all-wise." - Quran, al-Insan, 76:29-30.

Whosoever God has made his heart find rest at His remembrance has prospered into the heights of man, beyond the angelical kingdom towards salvation, and finally annihilation in the Beloved. But as for him whose deeds weigh light in the scales, his home will be the Abyss. They treaded upon a path without an end, an abyss, for beyond God -- there is nothing else -- and these hearts shall never see the light of their journey; thus they search for answer until the weariness of the journey overcomes them and stops at whatever is between their hands and seeks not what is beyond that, thus: "They know just an outward aspect of the life of the world, but they are oblivious of the Hereafter." - Quran, al-Rum, 30:7.

. . . . .Prophetic narration states that, "However many sins a person commits, then he/she repents, God will forgive him/her. God loves those who repent."
God not only forgives you, He also loves you and He is happy with your repentance. Imam Al-Sadiq (a) says: "God rejoices at the repentance of His slaves as one rejoices at finding something lost."
The Qur'anic verse says: "Surely Allah loves those who turn much to (Him), and He loves those who purify themselves."  (Surah Al-Baqarah: 222).
Then how can you doubt God's acceptance of your repentance when you obey His orders?"

Depends, Is it our of nostalgia and love for the rituals or something else?

Religion can make people happy, it can feel right but doesn't make it right. Sometimes you can have whats nice or you can have whats true.

Heres the thing, in philosophy of religion, arguments are very rarely against *God*. They're against *a* God(s). The God of christianity, Islam, Judaism, Thor, Zeus...Ukko...

It's very hard to argue about any sort of generalised God. The only property he would need to have is power. Cant really prove or disprove that.

We can argue against the God of christianity, he is meant to be all powerful, all loving, all just, all knowing, ect. These are things we can base an argument on and find out whats wrong, same with Islam. We can argue against these scriptures as well and use the scriptures to figure out of the religion is true or right. Whereas, if its just some very vague idea of a God, its very hard.

I dont think your problem is with God or a God, your problem is with the God of Islam. You say you *just* couldn't follow him anymore. There are obviously things you found philosophically unsatisfying.

I hope this is some kind of sarcasm. You're lambasting him for thinking about his relgion? I mean how dare he right! He should blindly accept it because obviously you know whats best for him, better than himself!

If you want to take everything on blind faith like an ignorant troglodyte be my guest but what you should not do is recommend not thinking to other people.... I hope you didn't mean this.. It just makes you and the religion you're trying to defend look a lot worse. If you're trying to convince him to come back by telling him not to think about the problems that caused him to leave in the first place...your method is very ineffective..in-fact it might even push him away more.

This could be possible without a God, let alone the god being Allah.

It's concievable many different Gods could make us and make us unique. We could think of hundreds of thousands of possible Gods that could fulfil this function. You haven't really gone that far..

View PostSpider, on 20 March 2012 - 03:15 PM, said:

Again...who says this has to be Allah, there are plenty of Gods we can even just imagine who are able to be our creator, our creator could be a totally evil God, a God that created us and stopped caring...it could be *anything*, Allah doesn't have an exclusive perrogative on this idea

View PostSpider, on 20 March 2012 - 03:15 PM, said:

What if my being is an evil God...or Satan...or an All powerful tea-cup? We can ascribe the properties of your above claims to any of these, you're no closer to proving your God. You're just assuming your God *must be right* and it has to be right for this guy too because he's just obviously mistaken and lost..

Oh, come on, you seem like a smart woman. Surely, you dont actually believe atheists believe in nothing at all? We believe in a lot of the same things you do...love...kindness..charity...

At least i'll have somewhere warm to toast my marshmellows and hey, i'll get to hang out with those polytheists who Allah simply refuses to forgive. He could forgive them if he wanted to but according to the Quran its the only unforgivable sin. I'd rather roast in hell and hang out with these guys than go to an unjust heaven.

Anyway, do you honestly believe only muslims will wind up in heaven? There are a lot of non-muslims who do much greater and noble works than you have done. Look through history, the martin luther kings, the bill gate's, the nelson mandela's and hell, the every day heros - The atheist firefighter, the jewish voulunteer doctor, the hindu man who works hard 14 hours a day just to give his family a better life... you think all these guys are going to hell? Just because they're not muslims...?

If they can go to heaven and not be muslims, why cant he?

Unless you're just simply trying to scare him into believing. He seems more strong, questioning and intelligent than that, this tactic won't work.

What in particular are your problems with the belief system of Islam?

I really don't think the fear mongering and "you're going to hell" statements are getting anywhere. So we should probably stop doing that and address the real problems here.

OP - have you reflected on why you stopped believing in Islam? I am also a convert and so I understand that you may have doubts sometimes. It's normal. But you must think through what these doubts actually are and why you are having them. Did something happen in you life to push you away from believing in a just and merciful God? Did you get wrapped up in the polemical issues of Islam and religion? Did you understand the rituals of Islam and why they are important to belief? Etc

did u have some questions that religion couldn't answer it?
share those questions with alims , do ur best to remove the doubts.

I would rather you to return to Islam when you found it the right path of your life. don't accept it while you have doubts in your heart and don't ignore those doubts as well.

Allah has promised to guide people to the right path, you just want to find the path, Allah will enlighten you and He will show you the way.

return and address your issues by seeking guidance of Allah, looking, and fighting bad thoughts. we are here to submit, believe, sometimes the mind may accept something but the hear takes a bit longer. do not let yourself or the evil ones stop you. and you will find god kind to the true repentants.

if you have a feeling like you want to return this is a blessing :)

Brother speaking as a convert we have many ideas and maybe some more than others about things that we need to tear down and rebuild. like i said we are here to submit to god and i will add not to what we were pre programmed with by living in in the atmosphere we were in before converting. feel free to message me if you woudl like.

First of all, there are a lot of people saying you are going to hell, and all. That is just fear mongering and to be quite frank it's not really solving anything. You obviously had a problem with Islam, maybe it was a misunderstand, or something didn't make sense. That's fine, just you shouldn't throw everything out then. Try contacting a Scholar, or someone of great knowledge, and they can help you, hopefully you can reach somewhere where you will be pleased. At the end of the day it's your decision what you want to do. And to all the people saying only Muslims go to Janat, that simply isn't true, you cannot honestly think someone like Mother Teresa is in the same place as Hitler...

If you want to address the problems you were having, here is the email address to a good Sheikh I know: academyofislam@gmail.com

Or here is a link to a group of Sheikhs on a website if you want: http://www.askthesheikh.com/

I hope you find what you are looking for, and reach a place where you are happy.
