Sallam Alykum,

I need help with controlling sexual desires. I am 21 years old and like many young adults living in the western world it is very hard controlling these sexual desires. I tried everything from praying on time and asking Allah swt to help me, reading dua, listening to Islamic lectures, exercising, fasting, stopped listening to music, but nothing is working...

I can control myself for like a week tops but the urge after that is uncontrollable. for example, last week I was doing homework and out of no where sex popped into my head. I wasn't thinking about it or girls or anything before it happened...

I constantly do ghusl and ask Allah swt for forgiveness but this seems like it's out of my hands... I try so hard to stop but it seems impossible...

help me please.

1. Married men can find it hard to lower their gaze when they see non-mehrum women (just like unmarried ones)

2. They may be so used to the act of masturbation before marriage that sexual intercourse after marriage gives them far less pleasure. So, when they feel unsatisfied, they resort to masturbation again.

3. When a man gets married, he understands what sexual intercourse is like. The shaitan then tries to turn his imagination wild and the man may start imagining that he is having the same act with some other woman. A lot married people fall into this trap. In fact, there is a hadith which is something on the lines that Allah's curse will be upon the person who, while having sex with his wife, imagines that he is with some other woman. This shows that it is a serious issue for married men to control their imagination.

4. Some people do not have successful married lives and they simply do not like their spouses. They never enjoy intimate relations with them because of their dislike for each other. Such people often commit sexual sins to satisfy their urges.

5. Some couples get to spend very little time together. Although they are married, they live in different cities, countries and hardly ever find it possible to be intimate. They can fall into sexual sins just like unmarried people.

6. Some people are very chaste in the beginning of their marriage. But as the time passes, they get so bored with the same person, that they desire new experiences. They often fall into haram.

The list goes on and on....

Marriage doesn't mean that you will automatically become sin-free because you have a partner. It takes a degree of self-control, patience and will-power to be chaste and to avoid the temptations of the satan. And this matter is more concerning for married people because of the fact that once you get married and still are unable to avoid sins, your punishment gets double.

This is why if you are married and are still able to remain fully chaste (with the help of Allah - not simply because you have an opportunity to satisfy the carnal desire), then you would be doing the greatest worship. But lifelong sexual patience is required to achieve this goal.

this is so true, may Allah help each and everyone of us to try to avoid  these sins.........by the way were is that hadith that says that one will be curse if they think of another woman while having intercorse with ones wife?....anyone

Masturbation is  the only way to get release from your problem. If you can't get married and release your sexual energy that way then masterbation is your salvation.  yes they say its haraam but rather do it to urself and only hurt ur own feelings then have a haraam girlfriend and hurt her!

Why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye?

Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.

Judge not, so that you may not be judged. For with the judgement you judge,  you will be judged also; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.

Brother what are you talking about? Masturbation is a sin, it is haraam. Someone should either abstain from it, or get married whether that be temporary marriage or permanent marriage. You can release your energy through exercising, or you can reduce your energy so it isn't there by fasting (fasting has been recommended/prescribed by the Prophet (pbuh) to help you to abstain from sinning)

I would advise you to please remove your comment, advocating sinning itself could be a sin itself (I'm not 100% sure if it is a sin to advocate sinning, but I know if someone acted on your advice you would both get the punishment because you advised people to sin)

(bismillah)

Ya Ali Madad

La'nat on the enemies of Ahlulbait (as)

Rahbar Faqat Khameneist

To everyone reading this:
In the society and backward culture we are living in, no matter where you are in the world (even Iran), there is always distraction. Unfortunately with the growing technology it is easier to sin nowadays. Although marriage is ultimately the best solution, it may not be practical for some of us. For those of you who cannot get married right now, here is my solution:

-Block all pornographic websites, and restrict 'safe search' to 'strict mode' on search engines. To do this simply download k9 web protection (google that up) and tweak around with the settings. After you have set the settings to what you want, change the password to something that you know you will not remember. What I did was that I copy/pasted a long random line with the combination of letters and words (eg. lkn32lk3nlk3n2323nl3).

-Once you make sure that you have no access to pornography, your mind will become hopeless and the idea of surfing on the web for porn will soon go away once you are sure that it is impossible to access it. At this point your mind begins to mature and develop. When you reach this stage you should take full advantage of it. You should immediately build up your will power and determine your goal of life.

-Never look at a na-mahram's face. It is said that Ayatollah Qazi Tabatabai NEVER looked at the face of a na-mahram! This might be hard in work or at school but when you CAN, then definitely DO it! Never allow your eyes to wonder off. Treat women as humans, not objects.

-Every time you have the urge to masturbate, know that either you are bored or you looked at a na-mahram and the effect is taking place. Immediately do tawba and get out of that situation. If you are laying down, then get up (and vise-versa). If you are in your bedroom get out. Simply saying Ya Ali! will get you pumped up and you will not want to commit the sin.

-Become physically active! One of the big reasons why I do weight lifting is to get rid of all my energy. Fortunately when I come back from the gym I become so darn tired that I cannot care any less about beautiful women. I just focus on my studies.

-Pray to god. He will help you

-Get involved in politics. All the political thoughts will drive you crazy and will pull you away from dirty thoughts. Listen to some hezbollah music on a boombox or tune the volume to max on your computer....

-When you are on the urge of masturbation, quickly imagine the ugliest girl you can think of... like Tony Blair. This will turn you off badly

Remember, every time you masturbate, you are thinking of women as objects and this can hurt your marriage. I repeat again that women hate being treated as objects, and they have every right to do so.

With that said, go out and shoot some hoops

mashallah nice thaughts .

Everybody goes through it. Personally i think this is lesson and we must learn that not everything that we desire can be done, because it's against logic and it will lead to bad consequences. Marriage in your situation risky thing because your body controling you and not you controling your body and your marriage can be horrible so best thing in your situation fight with yourself.

I'm non muslim so i wondering do muslims realy believe in 72 virgin girls?

the desire can be completely eliminated and all it takes is to fast for forty days,

whats is important is that during the fasting period to avoid all tasty food, and to avoid eating more then a few spoonfulls of simple untasty food such as plain rice, or bread(which then might seem boring, but the though of failure is far worse)

if you do this for forty days your control over your desires will become strong and you will be able to see clearly how to completely eliminate it

although it can be a very scary feeling to eliminate that nafs need for a female partner, the shaitan will fill your head up with all kinds of ridiculous propositions such as "am i become homosexual" or "why do i feel so indifferent to women even when i look at them" etc and then it might cause you to try to see if you have an inclination towards them, and that way might lead you into haram, however usually that doesnt happen and reality sinks in before you do anything stupid out of fear, and even better, your second eyes of the heart open and you become much much spiritual, of course living without any sexual desire can sometimes make you feel strange and even cause panic as to why you are so bleak towards this aspect off life, but once it becomes your permanent habit you will feel true freedom and beauty

also it can make life seem boring at times and that alone might pull you back into trying to reawaken this sexuality in your self, however if you find your true purpose and grasp onto it(which it to reach God) then this stage will not revert or recede to your previous station which you knew so well

inshallah good luck and pray to Allah for help always but i promise you that help is definitely there and if you pass the stages of 3, 7, and 14 and then eventually 40 you have mastered the self and completely eliminated this from your self into a portion of freedom
"You are the lofty Lord and I am the humble slave, and how great difference there is between us."

Imam Ali Naqi dua after fajr prayer
