Salaam wa alaykum

I'm quite a fan of Seyed Ammar Nakshawani and I really love listening to his lectures. But he recites something before each and every single of his lectures but I dont know what it is, as it is in Arabic :P

Is it a dua of some sort, in praise of Ale Muhammad (as)?

if anyone knows would you be able to tell me? I really want to know.

thank you in advanced :)

Lots of different speakers read lots of different things before reciting, there's no set thing to say.

It's usually praising Allah ÓÈÍÇäå æÊÚÇáì, then sending peace on the Ahlulbayt (as) and then maybe quoting a Quran verse or hadith that they will be discussing in the lecture.

its called a khutba, apparently.
Someone picked up the head of Hussain: "These lips that kissed The Prophet now kiss the dust."

"Sometimes you find requests are not immediately granted. Do not be disappointed. Fulfillment of desires rest in the true purpose or intention of the prayer. More often fulfillment is delayed because merciful Lord wants to bestow upon you suitable rewards. In the meantime bear patiently hardships, believing sincerely in His help. You will get better favours, because, unknowingly you may ask for things which are really harmful to you. Many of your requests, if granted, may bring eternal damnation. So at times, withholding fulfillment is a blessing in disguise."

In the Name of Allah (swt) the most beneficent the most merciful

then he says a verse/verses

I may have made some mistakes in my post since I hardly know any arabic, if so please forgive me.

(bismillah)
(salam)
It's usually something along these lines:
In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate.  All praise is due to Allah and salawat and salam on our master and our magnificent, and the dear of our hearts, and the intercessor of our souls, Abu Qasim, Muhammad (pbuh).  And (salawat and salam) on his (the Prophet's) Ahl al-Bayt, the good and pure and ma'soom and truthful.  All praise is due to Allah who made us firm adherents of (or cling strongly to) the wilayat of my master and guardian, Ali bin Abi Talib.  All praise is due to Allah who has guided us to this, and we could not have been guided were it not for Allah's guidance.  (And then he begins by quoting a hadith or ayah)

This is the general set-up with maybe some chages here and there in lectures here and there.  Sometimes there's a mention of the righteous Sahaba (ra)

was salam

bah brother Shia-Debator beat me do it lol jzk akhi

Unfortunately there's a lot of beauty and depth in this statement that doesn't really come out in the translation, without an explaniation.

Here, I wrote it down to read before my majlises to, this is it:

Bismillahir Rehman hir Raheem, Alhamdulillahir Rabil Alimeen, Was Salaatu Wasalaamu Ala Sayadina wa azeemina, wa habibe quloobina wa shafi e nafoosina Abal Qasim Mohammed

"allahuma Salay ala mohammadin wa alay mohammad"

Wa ala ahle bayt tayabeen wat tahireen wal masoomeen wal mazloomeen, alhamdulillahil ladhee ja'alana minal mutamas sakeena bee wilayat sayadee wa maulaya Ali Ibn Abi Talib

"allahuma Salay Ala Mohammadin wa alay mohammad"

Alhamdulillahil Ladhee hadana leehadha wa ma quna lina teh deeya laula an hadan Allah, amma ba'ad, faqala kitabihil kareem/ameeral momineen/khatimin nabee/etc "bismillahir rehman ar raheem....(the quote from quran, or hadith, or etc)"

that is it

And from Muhammad b. al-Hasan and `Ali b. Muhammad from Sahl b. Ziyad and from Muhammad b. Yahya from Ahmad b. Muhammad all from Ja`far b. Muhammad al-Ash`ari from `Abdullah b. Maymun al-Qaddah and from `Ali b. Ibrahim from his father from Hammad b. `Isa from al-Qaddah from Abu `Abdillah عليه السلام.  He said: The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وآله said: Whoever travels a path seeking knowledge in it, Allah تعالى will make him travel a road to the Garden.  And the angels set their wings for the seeker of knowledge, pleased with him.  And whoever is in the heavens and whoever is in the Earth seeks forgiveness for him, even the fish in the sea.  And the virtue of the learned over the worshiper is as the virtue of the moon over all of the stars on a full-moon night.

Salam Alaikum,

Thank you Shia_Debater for this wonderful transliteration and translation of Nakshawani's praise and salutations before a majlis begins. I never quite understood the full meaning of those.

But I hope you can put the Arabic texts in it too, because transliterations are quite inaccurate for the true pronunciations of arabic letters.

Thank you so much Shia_Debater.

Salam.

[The part I put a dot is meant to say adheeminaa but I can't make the arabic version for some reason - I'm using online transliteration and it's not showing the word properly]

[The part I put a dot is for the word "al-ghur" I couldn't transliterate it into arabic]

Please note that some of it may be wrong as Arabic isn't a language that I know - Also last time I did this transliteration I did a bit wrong and so I will correct those parts which were wrong

Yes, it is beautiful. JazakAllaah khayr to the individual who wrote it out.
Additionally, a du'a' that the A'imma (as) would start out their speeches with is present in the introduction to an article by Nader Zaveri. Link: http://www.fileden.c...ger Fatimah.pdf

(salam)

I've just noticed a couple of mistakes; I've corrected them below.

And prayers and peace be upon our master, our defender,  ("Athimina" should be "our defender" - if it was "the great" it would be "al-Athim" - note: I believe "Athim" in this context means "defender" rather than "great" but I could be wrong).

...

All praise is due to Allah, who made us the adherents of the Wilaya (Authority), Leadership and Mastership of Ali, the Son of Abu Talib. (I forgot to include "Moulaya" i.e. Mastership)
Alhamdulillah hilathī ja alana minal mutamasiqīna bi Wilyat Sayiddī o Moulaya Alī ibn Abī Tālib.
