Salaam,

Okay brothers and sisters, lets shake things up a bit.
I want you to post the lyrics (Just the lyrics) of Music that you found inspiring, thought provoking etc.
Let's leave out the youtube links and things, don't get me into trouble here, many shiachatters may not be ready for that.

So I'll start...

I though this song was very azadari-malanngi-like when I first heard it so here goes:

Johnny Cash - Man In Black:

Well, you wonder why I always dress in black,
Why you never see bright colors on my back,
And why does my appearance seem to have a somber tone.
Well, there's a reason for the things that I have on.

I wear the black for the poor and the beaten down,
Livin' in the hopeless, hungry side of town,
I wear it for the prisoner who has long paid for his crime,
But is there because he's a victim of the times.

I wear the black for those who never read,
Or listened to the words that Jesus said,
About the road to happiness through love and charity,
Why, you'd think He's talking straight to you and me.

Well, we're doin' mighty fine, I do suppose,
In our streak of lightnin' cars and fancy clothes,
But just so we're reminded of the ones who are held back,
Up front there ought 'a be a Man In Black.

I wear it for the sick and lonely old,
For the reckless ones whose bad trip left them cold,
I wear the black in mournin' for the lives that could have been,
Each week we lose a hundred fine young men.

And, I wear it for the thousands who have died,
Believen' that the Lord was on their side,
I wear it for another hundred thousand who have died,
Believen' that we all were on their side.

Well, there's things that never will be right I know,
And things need changin' everywhere you go,
But 'til we start to make a move to make a few things right,
You'll never see me wear a suit of white.

Ah, I'd love to wear a rainbow every day,
And tell the world that everything's OK,
But I'll try to carry off a little darkness on my back,
'Till things are brighter, I'm the Man In Black.

Okay, Mushu.

While those were some very intelligent lyrics here and there, can you please try to find cleaner lyrics, so I don't have to do so much editting. :(
Youz' gonna get me into problems before we get going here lol.

--

Also, can we have just one rule:
Nothing Rude, lewd or in poor taste, omit those lyrics that may be offensive to shiachat board rules.

--

Okay, I realise this can be a bit vague for some, so many songs have great messages, so if you don't know what to post try looking for lyrics you think are anthems of shias. Note to Mods/ Admins: I said lyrics that are anthems (Not songs)

Where I come from and around the time I reverted to Shi'i Islam I felt very alienated as my sunni brethren around me were a bit antagonistic. Now years have passed and they seem to be very tolerant and respectful, I can't complain. Allah bless them.
These lyrics at the time of feeling alienated resonated with me... ...people were calling me a "Rafidhi" (A Rebel)

Bad Company - Bad Company:

Company, always on the run
Destiny is the rising sun
Oh, I was born 6-gun in my hand
Behind a gun I'll make my final stand
That's why they call me

Bad company
And I can't deny
Bad company
Till the day I die
Oh, till the day I die
Till the day I die

Rebel souls, deserters we are called
Chose a gun and threw away the sword
Now these towns, they all know our name
6-gun sound is our claim to fame
I can hear them say

Bad company
And I won't deny
Bad, bad company
Till the day I die, oo yeah
Till the day I die, oo

Hey
Bad company
And I can't deny
Bad company
Till the day I die

And I say it's
Bad company, oh yeah yeah
Bad company
Till the day I die, oh yeah

Tell me that you are not a thief
Oh but I am bad company
It's the way I play dirty for dirty
Oh, somebody double-crossed me
Double-cross, double-cross

Yeah, we're bad company

--

I used to read the line: "Destiny is the rising sun" as "Destiny is the rising son"

IraqiShia, thanks for that. Your frustrations are understandable, they are heartfelt, I salute you.
Yes we are "waiting" but we must be "waiting" (Actively) by preparing for the arrival as the lyrics suggest.

Salam,

Lowkey - Terrorist

[Intro]

So, We must ask ourselves, What is the dictionary definition of "Terrorism"?

The systematic use of terror especially as a means of coercion

But what is terror?

According to the dictionary I hold in my hand, Terror, is violent or destructive acts

Such as bombing committed by groups in order to intimidate a population,

Or government into granting their demands

So whats a terrorist?

[Hook]

They're calling me a terrorist

Like they don't know who the terror is

When they put it on me, I tell them this

I'm all about peace and love

They calling me a terrorist

Like they don't know who the terror is

Insulting my intelligence

Oh how these people judge..

[Verse 1]

It seems like the Rag-heads and Paki's are worrying your Dad

But your dad's favorite food is curry and kebab

It's funny, but it's sad how they make your mummy hurry with her bags

Rather read The Sun than study all the facts

Tell me, what's the bigger threat to human society

BAE Systems or home made IED's

Remote controlled drones, killing off human lives

Or man with home made bomb committing suicide

I know you were terrified when you saw the towers fall

It's all terror but some forms are more powerful

It seems nuts, how could there be such agony

When more Israeli's die from peanut allergies

It's like the definition didn't ever exist

I guess it's all just depending who your nemesis is

Irrelevant how eloquent the rhetoric peddler is

They're telling fibs, now tell us who the real terrorist is

[Hook]

They're calling me a terrorist

Like they don't know who the terror is

When they put it on me, I tell them this

I'm all about peace and love

They calling me a terrorist

Like they don't know who the terror is

Insulting my intelligence

Oh how these people judge..

[Verse 2]

Lumumba was democracy - Mossadegh was democracy

[ From: http://www.metrolyri...ics-lowkey.html ]

Allende was democracy - Hypocrisy it bothers me

Call you terrorists if you don't wanna be a colony

We used to bow down to a policy of robbery

Is terrorism my lyrics?

When more Vietnam vets kill themselves after the war than died in it?

This is very basic..

One nation in the world has over a thousand military bases

They say it's religion, when clearly it isn't

It's not just Muslims that oppose your imperialism

Is Hugo Chavez a Muslim? Nah.. I didn't think so

Is Castro a Muslim? Nah.. I didn't think so

It's like the definition didn't ever exist

I guess it's all just depending who your nemesis is

Irrelevant how eloquent the rhetoric peddler is

They're telling fibs, now tell us who the terrorist is

[Hook]

They're calling me a terrorist

Like they don't know who the terror is

When they put it on me, I tell them this

I'm all about peace and love

They calling me a terrorist

Like they don't know who the terror is

Insulting my intelligence

Oh how these people judge..

[Outro x2]

You think that I don't know,

But I know, I know, I know

You think that we don't know

But we know

You think that I don't know,

But I know, I know, I know

You think that we don't know

But we DO

**

Was Building 7 terrorism?

Was nanothermite terrorism?

Diego Garcia was terrorism,

I am conscious the Contras was terrorism,

Phosphorous that burns hands - that is terrorism,

Irgun and Stern Gang that was terrorism,

What they did in Hiroshima was terrorism,

What they did in Fallujah was terrorism,

Mandela ANC - that was terrorism,

Jerry Adams IRA - that was terrorism,

Eric Prince black water - it was terrorism,

Oklahoma, McVeigh - that was terrorism,

Everyday USA - that is terrorism,

Everyday UK - that is terrorism,

Everyday...

Look Into My Eyes - Outlandish

Look into my eyes Tell me what ya see U don't see a damn thing Cuz u can't relate to me

U blinded by our differences My life makes no sense to u I'm the persecuted one U the red, white and blue

Each day u wake in tranquility No fears to cross your eyes Each day I wake in gratitude Thankin' God He let me rise

Ya worry 'bout your education And the bills u have to pay I worry 'bout my vulnerable life And if I'll survive another day

Ya biggest fear is getting a ticket As ya cruise your Cadillac My fear is that the tank that's just left Will turn around and come back

Yet do u know the truth of where ya money goes Do u let the media deceive your mind Is this a truth that nobody nobody nobody knows Some one tell me

Oh let's not cry tonight I promise you one day it's through Ohohoh my brothers Ohohoh my sisters

Oh shine a light for every soul That ain't with us no more Ohohoh my brothers Ohohoh my sisters

See I've known terror for quite some times 57 years so cruel Terror breathes the air I breathe It's the check point on my way to school

Terror is the robbery of my land And the torture of my mother The imprisonment of my innocent father The bullet in my baby brother

The bulldozers and the tanks The gasses and the guns The bombs that fall outside my door All due to your funds

You blame me for defending myself Against the ways of my enemies I'm terrorized in my own land And I'm the terrorist

American do ya realize That the taxes that u pay Feed the forces that traumatize My every living day

So if I won't be here tomorrow It's written in my fate May the future bring a brighter day The end of our wait

Oh let's not cry tonight I promise you one day it's through Ohohoh my brothers Ohohoh my sisters

Oh shine a light for every soul That ain't with us no more Ohohoh my brothers Ohohoh my sisters

This is from the 60s:
Barry McGuire (Written By PF Sloan) - Eve Of Destruction

The eastern world it is explodin',
Violence flarin', bullets loadin',
You're old enough to kill but not for votin',
You don't believe in war, what's that gun you're totin',
And even the Jordan river has bodies floatin',
But you tell me over and over and over again my friend,
Ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction.

Don't you understand, what I'm trying to say?
Can't you see the fear that I'm feeling today?
If the button is pushed, there's no running away,
There'll be no one to save with the world in a grave,
Take a look around you, boy, it's bound to scare you, boy,
But you tell me over and over and over again my friend,
Ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction.

Yeah, my blood's so mad, feels like coagulatin',
I'm sittin' here, just contemplatin',
I can't twist the truth, it knows no regulation,
Handful of Senators don't pass legislation,
And marches alone can't bring integration,
When human respect is disintegratin',
This whole crazy world is just too frustratin',
And you tell me over and over and over again my friend,
Ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction.

Think of all the hate there is in Red China!
Tehn take a look around to Selma, Alabama!
Ah, you may leave here, for four days in space,
But when your return, it's the same old place,
The poundin' of the drums, th pride and disgrace,
You can bury your dead, but don't leave a trace,
Hate your next-door-neighbour, but don't forget to say grace,
And you tell me over and over and over and over again my friend,
Ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction.

Salam
Here's a frencg song from Corneille, I think orginally from Rwanda or Congo, where he witnessed his family's death by a home invasion during a civil war.
On Vient De Loins"
Nous sommes nos propre pères
Si jeunes et Pourtant si vieux
Ca me fait penser Tu sais
A rien

refrain

Mes chers

refrain x2 [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmod...cs/c/corneille/

...,also, a bit off topic, but would anyone know a link with ENGLISH nasheeds (like sami yusuf, for example)
Thanks :) wasalam

I'm glad things are going in the right direction here...

Okay here's another:

Neil Young - Rockin' In The Free World

There's colors on the street
Red, white and blue
People shufflin' their feet
People sleepin' in their shoes
But there's a warnin' sign
on the road ahead
There's a lot of people sayin'
we'd be better off dead
Don't feel like Satan,
but I am to them
So I try to forget it,
any way I can.

Keep on rockin' in the free world, (x4)

I see a woman in the night
With a baby in her hand
Under an old street light
Near a garbage can
Now she puts the kid away,
and she's gone to get a hit
She hates her life,
and what she's done to it
There's one more kid
that will never go to school
Never get to fall in love,
never get to be cool.

Keep on rockin' in the free world, (x4).

We got a thousand points of light
For the homeless man
We got a kinder, gentler,
Machine gun hand
We got department stores
and toilet paper
Got styrofoam boxes
for the ozone layer
Got a man of the people,
says keep hope alive
Got fuel to burn,
got roads to drive.

Keep on rockin' in the free world, (x4)

King Crimson- Epitaph

The wall on which the prophets wrote
Is cracking at the seams.
Upon the instruments of death
The sunlight brightly gleams.
When every man is torn apart
With nightmares and with dreams,
Will no one lay the laurel wreath
When silence drowns the screams.

Confusion will be my epitaph.
As I crawl a cracked and broken path
If we make it we can all sit back
and laugh.
But I fear tomorrow I'll be crying,
Yes I fear tomorrow I'll be crying.

Between the iron gates of fate,
The seeds of time were sown,
And watered by the deeds of those
Who know and who are known;
Knowledge is a deadly friend
When no one sets the rules.
The fate of all mankind I see
Is in the hands of fools.

Confusion will be my epitaph.
As I crawl a cracked and broken path
If we make it we can all sit back
and laugh.
But I fear tomorrow I'll be crying,
Yes I fear tomorrow I'll be crying.
I heart Fig.

Bob Marley - Redemption Song

Old pirates, yes, they rob I;
Sold I to the merchant ships,
Minutes after they took I
From the bottomless pit.
But my hand was made strong
By the hand of the Almighty.
We forward in this generation
Triumphantly.
Won't you help to sing
These songs of freedom?
'Cause all I ever have:
Redemption songs,
Redemption songs.

Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery;
None but ourselves can free our minds.
Have no fear for atomic energy,
'Cause none of them can stop the time.
How long shall they kill our prophets,
While we stand aside and look? Ooh!
Some say it's just a part of it:
We've got to fulfill the Book.

Won't you help to sing
These songs of freedom?
'Cause all I ever have:
Redemption songs,
Redemption songs,
Redemption songs.
---

---
Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery;
None but ourselves can free our mind.
Wo! Have no fear for atomic energy,
'Cause none of them-a can-a stop-a the time.
How long shall they kill our prophets,
While we stand aside and look?
Yes, some say it's just a part of it:
We've got to fulfill the book.
Won't you have to sing
These songs of freedom? -
'Cause all I ever had:
Redemption songs -
All I ever had:
Redemption songs:
These songs of freedom,
Songs of freedom.

Here's another...

Castles Made of Sand - Jimi Hendrix

Down the street you can hear her scream you're a disgrace
As she slams the door in his drunken face
And now he stands outside
And all the neighbors start to gossip and drool
He cries oh, girl you must be mad,
What happened to the sweet love you and me had?
Against the door he leans and starts a scene,
And his tears fall and burn the garden green

And so castles made of sand fall in the sea, eventually

A little Indian brave who before he was ten,
Played war games in the woods with his Indian friends
And he built up a dream that when he grew up
He would be a fearless warrior Indian Chief
Many moons past and more the dream grew strong until
Tomorrow he would sing his first war song and fight his first battle
But something went wrong, surprise attack killed him in his sleep that night

And so castles made of sand melt into the sea, eventually

There was a young girl, who's heart was a frown
cause she was crippled for life,
And she couldn't speak a sound
And she wished and prayed she could stop living,
So she decided to die
She drew her wheelchair to the edge of the shore
And to her legs she smiled you wont hurt me no more
But then a sight she'd never seen made her jump and say
Look a golden winged ship is passing my way

And it really didn't have to stop, it just kept on going...

And so castles made of sand slips into the sea, eventually

"If you find yourself alone, riding in the green fields with the sun on your face, do not be troubled.

For you are in Elysium, and you're already dead!"

Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.

Panther Power - Tupac Shakur

[Tupac]
As real as it seems the American Dream
Ain't nothing but another calculated schemes
To get us locked up shot up back in chains
To deny us of the future rob our names
Kept my history of mystery but now I see
The American Dream wasn't meant for me
Cause lady liberty is a hypocrite she lied to me
Promised me freedom, education, equality
Never gave me nothing but slavery
And now look at how dangerous you made me
Calling me a mad man cause I'm strong and bold
With this dump full of knowledge of the lies you told
Promise me emancipation indispute nation
All you gave my people was our patience
Fathers of our country never cared for me
They kept my answer shackled up in slavery
And Uncle Sam never did a dam thing for me
Except lie about the facts in my history
So now I'm sitting hear mad cause I'm unemployed
But the government's glad cause they enjoyed
When my people are down so they can screw us around
Time to change the government now panther power

[Chorus]
Panther power
Panther power
Panther power

[Tyson]
Coming straight that resides within
Go toe to toe with a panther and you just can't win
Suffered fame bats suppressed the rest
The rich get richer and the poor can't last
The American Dream was an American nightmare
You kept my people down and refuse to fight fair
The Klu Klux Klan tried to keep us out
Besides drew they know no blacks allowed
With intimidation and segregation was a way for our freedom
But now were impatient
Blacks the other skin: dead or sell outs
Freedom, equality, then I'll yell out
"Don't you ever be ashamed of what you are
It's ya panther power that makes you a star"
Panther power

[Chorus]
Panther power
Panther power
Panther power

[Tupac]
My Mother never let me forget my history
Hoping I was set free chains never put on me
Wanted to be more than just free
Had to know the true facts about my history
I couldn't settle for being a statistic
Couldn't survive in this capitalistic
Government cause it was meant to hold us back
Using ignorant, drugs, to sneak attack
In my community think of unity
But when I charged them, tried to claim immunity
I strike America like a case of hard disease
Panther power is running through my arteries
Try to stop oh boy you'll be clawed to death
Cause I'll be fighting for my freedom with my dying breath
Do you remember that is what I'm asking you?
You think you living free don't let me laugh at you
Open your eyes realize that you have been locked in chains
Said you wasn't civilized and stole your name
Cause some time has passed seem you all forget
There ain't no liberty to you and me we all ain't free yet
Panter power

[Chorus]
Panther power
Panther power
Panther power

[Tupac]

Sinead O'Connor - Fire On Babylon

She took my father from my life oh
Took my sister and brothers oh
I watched her torturing my child
Feeble I was then but now I'm grown

Fire on Babylon
Oh yes a change has come
Fire on Babylon
Fire
Fire
Fire

She's taken everything I liked
She's taken every lover oh
And all along she gave me lies
Just to make me think I loved her
Fire on Babylon
Oh yes a change has come
Look what she did to her son
Fire
Fire
Fire on
Life's backwards
Life's backwards
People turn around
The house is burned
The house is burned
The children are gone

Fire
Fire
Fire on Babylon
Oh yes a change has come
Fire on Babylon
Fire
Fire, oh
Fire, oh
Fire on Babylon

Oh yes a change has come
Look what she did to her son
Look what she did to her son
Fire, haha
Fire, haha
Fire
Fire
Fire, aha
Fire on Babylon
Fire on Babylon

"Allah is one...." (Surah 112:1)

"There's no one that can match me. My style is impetuous, my defense is impregnable, and I'm just ferocious. I want your heart! I want to eat his children! Praise be to Allah!" - Mike Tyson

Gaza tonight

A blinding flash of white light
Lit up the sky over Gaza tonight
People running for cover
Not knowing whether they're dead or alive

They came with their tanks and their planes
With ravaging fiery flames
And nothing remains
Just a voice rising up in the smoky haze

We will not go down
In the night, without a fight
You can burn up our mosques and our homes and our schools
But our spirit will never die
We will not go down
In Gaza tonight

Women and children alike
Murdered and massacred night after night
While the so-called leaders of countries afar
Debated on who's wrong or right

But their powerless words were in vain
And the bombs fell down like acid rain
But through the tears and the blood and the pain
You can still hear that voice through the smoky haze

We will not go down
In the night, without a fight
You can burn up our mosques and our homes and our schools
But our spirit will never die
We will not go down
In Gaza tonight

Causing the beauty to whither, making the ugly into slaves.
Corrupting and destroying all (good and evil) in it's path.
The progeny of Kufah and their legacy.

NEVER AGAIN!

If you're talking about the Immortal Technique one you posted the other day, then yes, it was a bit too vulgar for me to approve due to the theme of the song (I've heard it before).
Sorry.

Can i ask a question:

Dont some of the lyrics belong to haram songs, i mean like with haram music (ie suitable for lahb wa la3eb)?

Because i really like to listen to english songs but everything i got was either too sad or about love etc or with haram music, so i just gave up listening! Does anyone know halal ones?

Thankyou.

Well yes but I believe the songs that are here should have a meaning. But with the music put yes it will be haram, but reading them may have meanings to some people.
