You may wear anything that fully covers your body without being tight.  I usually wear a long dress with a sweater over, and then a headscarf.

Salaam aleykom
you can google pictures of muslim girls and get inspired, that helps us all, I do that to see the latest in islamic fashion..then it costs to have islamic clothes that are stylish..but try to buy basic pieces then add on with time..

cheers

Salam,,

the best thing in my opinion is to wear abayas or things similar to that,, we also have to remember that Hijab is spiritual as well as physical,,
science without religion is lame,, religion without science is blind,, thats pretty obvious,, but wen so many things in the Quran say things about the natural world before science can prove it,, how isnt that enough proof in Islam,,

DON'T you google for beautiful hijab styles! Keep it halal and modest with a simple full-covering abaya.

dont wear shirts/dresses with huge necks. also, dont wear camel hump style hijab. :D
Someone picked up the head of Hussain: "These lips that kissed The Prophet now kiss the dust."

"Sometimes you find requests are not immediately granted. Do not be disappointed. Fulfillment of desires rest in the true purpose or intention of the prayer. More often fulfillment is delayed because merciful Lord wants to bestow upon you suitable rewards. In the meantime bear patiently hardships, believing sincerely in His help. You will get better favours, because, unknowingly you may ask for things which are really harmful to you. Many of your requests, if granted, may bring eternal damnation. So at times, withholding fulfillment is a blessing in disguise."

why not googling?? how can she find online stores then?? there are several online stores in uk and us, delivering to her home..how can she find them then??

With Google I found most beautiful abayas, and most practical everyday's wear, easier than going to an islamic shop, you will find limited styles and limited sizes as well...it's really worth checking online..you decide what your style is, nobody else!

depends on your personal taste, style, profession, etc.

Wearing a full on abaya is often impractical and not wearing it doesn't compromise your modesty.

She can google for online shops but not for hijab styles. I don't think todays hijab style is so fitting as a muslim woman. A colorful skirt with a belt marking the waist, and a cute short blouse? That's what I meant when I said not to google ..

Well, even if you are wearing `abayaat, jalabeeb or long overcoats, kindly make sure that undergarments are not the only clothing you are wearing inside.

(Those who are aware of the police excesses on a certain Egyptian female protestor will understand my above statement).

Oh, I see now..and by the way, the colors themselves are not the problem, maybe you have a plain pink shirt on black skirt or vice versa...or something..that would not draw attention...but sometimes it is sooo colorful that , even if you were non-muslim, it will still draw so much attention...I think, that would never be stylish in my eyes...

and about abaya...yessssss, wear like good trousers and so, because although it's black you can see lines, or it can get some windy, or getting on/off buses and so on...no pyjamas!! I forbed my cousin to wear the usual pyjamas, you can still see lines..

what happened for the woman in egypt?? but I can guess!!

and yes, like sister zahratul-islam said..you have to take in consideration your work or life style...I think that is the challenge, islamic but practical..and honestly, so many girls go around with abayas here in london, it doesnt draw attention...but never saw one working in a lab with abaya (I'm biomed scientist)! probably not practical..

by the way, (i'm just going on and on, hehe sorry) have you seen female police men in iran?? never thought they would find a solution for practicality there, but they did, coool!

Google 'Egyptian female protestor' and you are most likely to find the brutality as the top result. I would never post the link, let alone the picture or the video, because after all, she was/is a MuHajjabah and I was very disillusioned to find a lot of Muslims openly posting pictures of that scene or the video, without giving so much as a thought to this aspect of the situation.

Salaam aleykom

I really cried for this video...what happened with the world..these soldiers haven't lived in an arabic/muslim country, only one of them covered her at the end..
don't they have sisters or mothers??

and they way they were kicking the girl and also the guy??? one soldier was jumping with both feet on hte guy...I really don't understand, it doesnt need islam or religion for this..it's basic humanity..why this hate and rage, he's probably your neighbor, at least he's egyptian like you?? he's muslim like you?? he's human like you??..

and not only in egypt, recently in kuwait we saw the same, soldiers were kicking an old mother protecting her son..with her abaya and everything...why?? beacuse she is not kuwaiti like you??

it wasn't long time ago, the arab men protected the women, any women, like they were holy or something...
now nothing is holy, nothing deserves respect..
no common sense...

I think and hope we will hear about these specific soldiers who did this to that woman..what Allah (swt) made of them..it will never pass by unnoticed..believe me..

La ilaha illa Allah

and sister foenix...yes, its not nice to show the photoes of this girl like this..but believe me, this is so much stronger than only descriptions...It really carves something in your soul, that shouldn't heal..

alhamdlillah we can't see her face..

Best advice on this forum. Do this, and you won't go wrong.

Also, don't treat hijab as a burden. You can be modest and cover up, while still making your hijab your own and fun. What I like to do is buy pin buttons with cool designs and use that to pin my hijab rather than a normal pin. You can buy patterned hijabs. Dress it up for parties. etc. The point is to wear the hijab with the intention that you don't want to attract the attention of the opposite sex. Be modest, cover up, but don't treat the hijab as a burden. it is a priviledge and doesn't have to take away from the fact that we are women.
