All American Muslim

With my continuous chain of transmission reaching up to Muhammad ibn Ya'qub al-Kulaynl, from al-Husayn ibn Muhammad, from al-Mu'alla ibn Muhammad, from al-Hasan ibn 'All al-Washsha', from 'Abd Allah ibn Sinan, from Abu 'Abd Allah, may Peace be upon him, which he said:
"Among the things pertaining to the soundness of a Muslim's certitude [in faith] is that he would not please people while displeasing God, nor blame them for something that God has not given him. For, verily, [God's] rizq (provision, sustenance) is not brought about by anybody's greed, nor is it withheld by anyone's disapproval, and were anyone of you to flee from his rizq like he flees death, his rizq would overtake him in the way he is overtaken by death." Then he added, "Indeed Allah with His justice and fairness, has put joy and comfort in certainty (yaqin) and satisfaction (al- rida) and He has put sorrow and grief in doubt and dissatisfaction."

Haha we should hang out sometime! Lol and you should walk into fordson! Or walk into gas stations in detriot where you see Muslim youth buying beer and a pack of smokes... It's very interesting... Lol

I will tell you that there is something behind this that we should all be aware of. It is obvious to me but may not seem so obvious at first.
1) There is a great interest in Islam in General and Shiism in particular in America. People in the U.S. are becoming muslim everyday. It was not so common more than a decade ago when I reverted, but it is becoming more and more common with each passing year. When I went to the masjid, I could go for months without seeing another revert there. Now I see them every single week on Friday. For a proof of this, just type in something like 'Revert Muslim' or 'Convert to Islam' in Youtube and see how many videos come up. Some are quite interesting and inspiring and most were made with just someone on a web cam with no budget and no script. Most reverts want to be in a Muslim community, for reasons of safety and ready availibility of masjids, halal food, etc. I guess born muslims want this type of community for the same reasons.
2) Dearborn is the center of Shia Islam in the United States, for better or worse. There are a lot of Shia here from different backgrounds and there are more Iraqis now in the City of Dearborn than there are Lebanese for the first time. So Dearborn has the potential to be another center of learning and activism for the Shia in the United States and guidance for the United States in general. That is why I came here ten years ago with high hopes (most of which haven't been realized yet).
3) The U.S. government is aware of these facts and they see Shiism and particularly the office of the Marjaaeiat as the greatest threat to their power in the world today. It is no accident that the two centers of Shia Learning for the world (Najaf and Qum) are either under U.S. occupation or threat of military attack. They want to nip the potential of Dearborn and this area in the bud by some means. They know that they cannot attack it militarily, because it is part of the United States and most people in Dearborn are U.S. citizens (either naturalized or born). So thus they have some rights. So the new strategy is to steer interest in Dearborn away from true Islam and toward fake, superficial cultural based Islam (Reema Faqih and now this...). So it seems that this show is part of the plan. The plan is the same old plan of divide and conquer by making a group of 'good muslims' (the ones who go to the masjid on Friday and belly dancing on Saturday) and the 'bad muslims' (the ones who go to the masjid on Friday and then do some other fun but halal activity on Saturday).
Extremely true, especially the third point. I see these kids acting less and less religious everyday because of shows like All American Muslims. Another thing, I used to live in another city where population contained only about 10% Muslims. I don't remember seeing many regular clubs and the first 'adult entertainment club' (wa ithulbiAllah) was about 16 minutes away from the city. It literally was out in the middle of nowhere. In dearbon though, there is an area where theres a club on every corner. There are disgusting clubs down the street from a mosque! I astonishes me how this area could have so many Muslims and those places in the same area.

haha!! Wallahi we were laughing at that a couple of days ago!!! Or when they have halal food at a club that sells nothing but alcohol. Pretty sure BT's serves halal lol
Astghfur'Allah I can keep laughing at this but wallah it's stuff like this that completely shocked me and made me question Islam. Alhamdulillah though, because of that I'm closer to Islam now than I have ever been.
Oh how about that adult store down the street from the mosque of imam Ali

Bismehe Ta3ala,
Assalam Alikum.
Alhamd'Allah I heard from my sister that they are not going to renew the show for next year. I finished watching this show and I share the same sentiments you have. I thought I would never live the day to see a "hijabi" going inside a bar/club and dance. That is the lowest form and disgrace I have ever seen a hijabi put herself in a situation like that.
I want to so bad put out an open letter for Billal Amen of what was his purpose of going to an ex-IDF sniper now tattoo artist and hugging him. At one point James asked him what does his tattoo say on his back, he replied it is an arabic saying. Billy, go and talk to Sayyid 3mmar Nakashawane and ask him what does "In kana deen mohamaden lam yastakim 2illa be katlee fa ya soufou khoudhnee." Or if he is too far away, I'm sure Hajj Hassan S.(3n al teene) will give you an earfull! But you are too busy watching football games or Bab al Harra!
Billy Joe Bob, you had an opportunity of a life time to tell the American audience and James who is Imam al Hussain and what he meant by that quote. But you failed miserably. You got your 15 minutes of fame telling America you prayed in the Kaaba for the Steelers to win the super bowl. Go back to your precious argeela and whatever remaining brain cells you have left, let it fry, bro.

No offense but you're talking nonsense
they don't have an agenda about arabs and non-arabs
the agenda is to make these liberal, americanised 'muslims' the 'good, normal' muslims
the ones who actually pray, don't dance in public while wearing hijab, don't listen to music etc etc are the ones they want to make extinct

Well, putting myself in the shoes of the majority Americans whose image of a Muslim is a wife beating bearded polygamous terrorists, this show puts things a bit in perspective for them by showing Americans something they have long lost- sense of family, love, and togetherness. And for that I am all for this show to be aired & continued.
oh and the chubby guy with tatoos who thinks he is big is in fact a wuss. he was so scared meeting the israeli guy

Some examples ( I watched part of a few episodes until I got to annoyed and turned it off)
1) That girl who wanted to open the club ( I forgot her name). She was the main focus of the episode (for some reasons which most here can imagine). At the same time, she is an extreme statistical anomoly when it comes to muslim girls in Dearborn. First, 99.9% of muslim girls in Dearborn would never think of opening up a club, they would be too afraid of the wrath of Allah(s.w.a) to do that. Second, even if they did think about it, they would never do it, and even if they were to do it, they would never publicize the fact that they were the one(s) behind it, they would think of the reputation of their family even if the didn't belive in Allah(s.w.a).
Third, if they were to publicize it, they wouldn't go on national t.v. to do it so that the story is sure to get back to Lebanon and ruin the reputation of their family on both sides of the Atlantic. She is an extreme of an extreme and in no way represents the girls of her age group in Dearborn who are Lebanese or whose parents are Lebanese or Arab or Muslim.
2) The revert, convert to Islam was a joke. It was very obvious that the guy only became muslim to satisfy this girls parents. The second day of Ramadan he broke his fast in the daytime with some very lame excuse and his wife was o.k. with it and let this be known to a national t.v. audience. Not fasting during Ramadan is still considered a big shame here in Dearborn (for the Muslims) and even those who are quasi religious would consider this a big shame. Also, I am a revert to Islam myself and have known many reverts over the years. I have never met one yet who would publically break their fast during Ramadan. He went beyond that by doing it publically in front of the whole world. Again, an extreme of an extreme and not representative of the community of Dearborn or the community of reverts.
